They didn’t. Panhandle just closed. Remember the state has two time zones. Still likely too close to call.
The Panhandle is essentially a Southern State. 51-49 before those votes are counted looks good.

I’m not sure where Dick Morris got those numbers but the vote count shows Obama ahead 51.4% to Romney’s 47.9%.
 
Light colors in Google just mean that the current count is for that candidate. Dark colors are when they’ve been called for them.

Carl M. Cannon:
One-sixth of the vote now counted in Virginia, and Romney is leading in rural Virginia. He needs to do better than John McCain did in Richmond suburbs and Northern Virginia. Too early to tell yet. Arlington and Alexandria not reporting yet. Not sure why, although in Arlington they offered a choice of paper ballots or computer, so it may take a while to tally them all.
