I heard that 42% of people in exit polls said that Obama’s actions during Sandy impacted their decision. Everything is under God’s hand and control, including nature.

I also heard CNN claimed exit polls reflect 50% of Catholics voted for Obama.

Is the time of Mercy slowly shifting to the time of justice?

Saint Faustina’s Diary:

*
You will prepare the world for My final coming. (Diary 429)

Speak to the world about My mercy … It is a sign for the end times. After it will come the Day of Justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fountain of My mercy. (Diary 848)

Tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near. (Diary 965).

I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of sinners. But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation. (Diary 1160)

Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)

He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146).

So, is the likely continuing pain this nation (and world) will receive a sign of continuing mercy, or have we seen a Divine shift toward justice.

You know what…the right needs to get a few new slogans. The MSM, political correctness, socualist, etc., are tired and need to be put away.

Face it…your man lost all on his own, because the bulk of the people did not trust his lack of specifics on his economic plan. Bill Clinton nailed him over and over for that. He also failed to reach out to minorities because the radical elements in his party would have turned on him.

The Republicans had better change course, or they could become irrelevant on the national level in the near future.
You know what? The national had better change course or we will be irrelevant in the 21st Century.

We are being led by a man who does not believe that the United States is an exceptional country, founded and peopled by those who are the best that every country in the world has to offer. He believes that we are just another country.

The Republicans have no need to change. The people that voted for Obama have the problem. I normally do not make such bold and inflammatory statements, but this is a dark time for our country.

Slogans? Like the fantasy of “Hope of Change” :rotfl:

Fact is the forum members presented the situation clearly here and before the Bishops spoke up I might add.

We’ll see how we fair with another 4-years under the fine financial leadership we have but again entrusted our future with.

Romney was perhaps 1-percent from winning the election. I would hardly say that means the GOP is off the track. There was a true October surprise this time, and its name was Sandy.

The USA, in very large, along with most of the west, has lost its faith. That is a major reason for this.

As the Lord said…Forgive them Father, they do not know what they are doing!

Regarding the health care law, Betsey McCaughtey, former LT governor of NY who has read the entire health care law said so much of the election was focused on contraception but there is nothing in the health care law that guarantees contraception, what is covered in your health care plan depends on the president’s appointees and what is covered can change with a new president

American Exceptionalism is a dangerous and false idea. This nation has been extraordinary because it was founded in a relative vacuum, far enough away from the rest world to have little interference. The people who populated our country were/are a broad cross-section of other nations…some good, some bad.

The other notion…that we were somehow divinely ordained is perhaps the most dangerous and blasphemous element of this belief system. We are no more divinely ordained than any other nation.

The US is a great nation because we learned early on that cooperation and compromise are essential. The absolutists lost last night and will continue to lose in the future.

And the problem will only get worse. Texas is on its way to becoming a swing state…so is Arizona.

Regarding Sandy…the President was leading in the polls before the storm and, guess what, the polls were right.

Catholics who attend Mass weekly seem to have favored Romney

‘We get the public officials we deserve. Their virtue, or lack thereof, is a judgment not only on them, but on us’ US Bishops, LGL, 1998

Fact is the forum members presented the situation clearly here and before the Bishops spoke up I might add.
The bishops’ response was the wrong one. They were negative; instead of saying, “Don’t vote for Obama,” they should have said, “Vote for Romney!” Imprudent, you say? Not appropriate for a bishop to give an endorsement? I say no.

We entered this race with a lacking show of candidates, and almost won in spite of it. Many souls opened their eyes in this past year. The final chapter hasn’t been inked yet.

A bit late to the party, I’m sure, but my state (Minnesota) shot down the marriage amendment. By next election, the Republican’s traditional base (white, older, tend to be Christian) will have lost a lot to the younger, more liberal, more ethicnically diverse base of the Democrats. The Republicans will need to find new friends.

Progressive secular atheism, here we come. Catholics will look back 20 years from now and see this for what it truly was.

Wrong. The act of getting off of their butts and coming to this country makes those immigrants exceptional. The 20th century would have turned out a lot differently if not for those exceptional Americans.
The other notion…that we were somehow divinely ordained is perhaps the most dangerous and blasphemous element of this belief system. We are no more divinely ordained than any other nation.
I never said this. I don’t believe that we are divinely ordained.
The US is a great nation because we learned early on that cooperation and compromise are essential. The absolutists lost last night and will continue to lose in the future.
Uhm, I hate to burst your bubble, but your guy is the most absolutist in a long time. At first I thought it was because he had no experience and didn’t know how to lead. Turns out, he doesn’t know how to compromise and doesn’t what to compromise. It’s easier to blame Boehner than to admit that he will get his way no matter how illegal, unconstitutional, or unAmerican it is.

Could it be that God’s will is actually done through, with and in his people, his creation…and this is it, the majority has spoken? Dare to believe in something beyond our finite understanding. Dare to believe that this is the best result for our day…forward.

Wrong. The act of getting off of their butts and coming to this country makes those immigrants exceptional. The 20th century would have turned out a lot differently if not for those exceptional Americans.

While you may not believe in divine ordination, a great many who espouse exceotionalism do. The immigrants who came here did so seeking a better life and to escape oppression, poverty and famine. The key to their success was a willingness to put aside old world social divisions when it made sense.

President Obama will have to compromise…as will Mr. Boehner. The President will now be looking to his legacy and will hopefully follow the Bill Clinton model.

Nationally, Obama earned 69.5 million votes in 2008, to McCain’s 60 million.
By the current count for 2012, Obama has 59.5 million votes, to Romney’s 57 million.
I do not see approx 2 million as a death knell for the republican party. What it does mean is that republicans have to make more of an effort, like George Bush and Karl Rove did to reach out to Hispanics. Bush got 44%, learned Spanish, made a direct effort to reach out to the Hispanic community. Obama won because he managed to characterise Romney as ruthful, and while republicans were fighting for the nomination in the primaries Obama was spending hundreds of millions on negative ads particularly in Ohio attacking Romney on the auto bail out

The GOP needs modernization, not moderation

For sure, they left a hole to be punched, and the hole punchers, punched it.

No doubt a clear direct message was replaced with read between the lines. And they certainly read what they wanted between those lines.

I think Obama is an ideologue and will be more concerned that his far left ideology is foisted on the American people than he is with a legacy.

A leader would have found a way to compromise with Boehner instead of blaming him for the logjam in Congress. But, here’s hoping that the Democrats can submit a budget! We haven’t had one for years.
