Obama did not pursue immigration reform in the 2 years he had a majority democrat house and senate and then some months before the election he signed an executive order for a temporary DREAM act. That was done to entice the Hispanic voting bloc with a concession
True, but he was already one step ahead regardless of legislation. This president is very effective at communicating to people that he respects and identifies with them. Dismissive attitudes towards the sectors of the population necessary to win, is the exact wrong orientation for people who want to win elections.

People remember - and I for one had already been 100% turned off after the Republican primaries and the attitudes/comments on display re: the underprivileged. I don’t think it really mattered too much who which of them ran against Obama. The Catholic non-negotiables do deserve serious consideration but how can anyone convince me they respect the unborn if they don’t respect their parents? You don’t just have to say the right stuff - you have to at least try to sound like you mean it…

I think Obama is an ideologue and will be more concerned that his far left ideology is foisted on the American people than he is with a legacy.
I agree, though the far left ideology will nevertheless become his legacy.

at least now people can see you for what you are.
Personal attacks don’t win arguments.

My post election opinion? People with superiority complexes should form their own third party and give the general population a real choice.

Well said

Two good ones in a row

A bit late to the party, I’m sure, but my state (Minnesota) shot down the marriage amendment. By next election, the Republican’s traditional base (white, older, tend to be Christian) will have lost a lot to the younger, more liberal, more ethicnically diverse base of the Democrats. The Republicans will need to find new friends.
This is fear mongering. Romney got about half of the popular vote. Nationwide Official Figures
OBAMA 59,584,661* ROMNEY 56,959,312
When was the last time a Republican got 47% of the vote in Minnesota?? So in fact, since you mentioned Minnesota, these were the biggest inroads by a Republican candidate in probably 40 years. In fact, you are saying this from a state that has been harsh on Republicans and a state that may well have fraudulently elected Democrat Al Franken to the Senate.

And our country may well find an abyss due to the smart diverse younger liberal base of the Democrats. The vote was almost an even split nation wide.

The Democrats demographics are based more on a constituency that doesn’t pay taxes and watch when healthcare kicks in. Again, we will thank the Obama supporters.

Those who voted for Obama stole jobs from the rest of Americans and now we have to live with left wing extremist policies. Yeah, and these are the same people who claim they vote out of charity. And watch our country when we run into problems like Greece and Spain and thank the Obama supporters.

Thanks. I don’t have to ask how you’re feeling this morning. :extrahappy:
Actually, I’m not one to get overly excited. Governing is tough and the problems are many. I will take great joy in watching Sean Hannity this evening, however.

I might even listen to Rush, just in case his head explodes on air

Yeah, that’s what we did

Good luck with that! I suspect there will be ‘wailing and gnashing of teeth’ once those who elected Obama realize what they have done, to themselves.
I doubt it. It’ll still be “The GOPs fault”

I think you would be turned off republicans regardless

One thing is for sure, Obama won overwhelmingly from people who don’t pay taxes,

Obama doesn’t win unless he wins cities like Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, MIami.

These are other demographics to remember as well.

How did the Euthanasia vote go in Massachusetts?
It is still too close to call

Thank you to everyone that shared their concerns about assisted suicide & the flaws on Question 2. Your efforts have made a huge impact!

I love Cardinal Seán O’Malley - and not just because he looks like Santa Claus!

Your false statement is one of the major reasons that Gov. Romney lost. Demonizing a large segment of the population is no way to win a national election.

A nation where one half pays for the other half can only last so long.

The thing is is that the rest of the nation has to pay for the Obama supporters!

Good luck if you think this will be long term success.

Voting rights are fine but sometimes, perhaps those who pay the taxes should be the only voters but that is not fair but the other way around is not fair either.

Watch the debt that will be rung up.
