Wow…just got around to actually looking at the results of the elections. Nothing changed. Four more years of nothing being accomplished…yay 😦

On the brighter side, my record of voting for a loser is intact. 😛

Let them do what they want…their competitors will benefit and they’ll blame Obama. 🤷
Chances are their competitors will go out of business because they can’t afford all of the new taxes. And they will be able to blame Obama, and be right.

As part of his role, Ryan had wanted to talk about poverty, traveling to inner cities and giving speeches that laid out the Republican vision for individual empowerment. But Romney advisers refused his request to do so, until mid-October, when he gave a speech on civil society in Cleveland.
Is that why Paul Ryan ignored Sister Simone’s invitation to actually visit poor people - or did he just want to give speeches?

A group of Catholic nuns say they’re worried about the way GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney will approach poverty and safety-net programs, if elected. So the nuns have invited him, and his running mate Paul Ryan, to spend a day with them, helping the poor. npr.org/2012/08/17/158995048/nuns-ask-candidates-to-spend-a-day-with-the-poor

What? They’d rather play the ‘victim’ than go out there and do their best? Wow!

Obama’s Been Re-Elected, Now It’s Time to Pray for Our Nation
Though pro-lifers are disappointed, grieved and even angry, we must remember that our call to LIFE and prayer has never changed. This isn’t a time to spew negativity or fight with natural weapons. Never have we needed to pray as we do in this critical hour. No man is our answer apart from Jesus, and He wasn’t the least bit surprised. Before the foundation of the world, He knew we’d re-elect President Obama tonight. We absolutely cannot forget the word of the Lord in Romans which says:
13 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.

I read of a man who owned a real estate company. He said if Romney won, he would likely hire 100 people in 2013. If Obama won, he said he would hire perhaps 8 people in 2013. The reason he gave is that he would hold onto excess funds so he can cover whatever additional taxes and fees that would come down. I think he is not alone–many companies have planned the same thing. Yes?
Businesses hire and layoff based on economic conditions. One problem with both candidates was that neither described any sort of coherent economic plan. Besides, the world economy is still volatile. What happens in Europe and Asia does affect the US economy. We don’t know what is ahead. We will never know if Mr. Romney would have been a better president with respect to the economy. He made some bone head statements. But he also has a lot of practical experience in the world of business. Couple that with his ignorance of world affairs, which he demonstrated frequently. But none of that matters now. It is speculation.

One thing about Obama is that since he didn’t outline any plan, he is free to do anything without being accused of failing to meet his promises. He has a clean slate. I hope he uses it wisely.

The realtor you read about was just blowing smoke. If the real estate market heats up, and he can make money by hiring people, then he will do so if he wants to make money. He probably does. If the real estate market crashes again, then the opposite will happen.

I also believe that, no matter what happens, the president will be blamed for something bad. This will happen no matter who is in office.

It will not be a small number–that is the point. Businesses want to remain in business and they want to keep their current employees. 1 plus 1 is still equal to 2.

See my post from CFO magazine. The entire country is doing that. Couple that with the Fiscal Cliff and no one wants to spend or borrow money. It will be a repeat of September - October 2008, only instead of a couple months it will be years.

'cause Sister Simone is as true to her Catholic “faith” as my toaster is.

I do not agree–many business owners have stated the same thing during the last 12 months. When a company has trouble predicting what is coming, they will conserve.

What? How did you get that from what I posted???

You will have companies that hold on to money, not hiring as many employees. They have a chance to survive. They will have the cash on hand to pay for all of Obama’s handouts.

Then you will have companies that will not hold on to money. They are the competitors of the above mentioned saving companies. They will not have the cash on hand to pay for the coming entitlements. They will end up out of business. And, could, rightly, blame Obama.

morality, faith and values are too old-fashioned for a great many.
Pop culture media has destroyed them. Good luck convincing people to turn off pop culture media. Pop culture media is the true god of our nation, as evidenced by the vote, to be our brother’s keeper, while our brother uses his Free Will to indulge in sin, and so many people are blind to the cause.

People voted to help our brother who is in a mess, while ignoring what caused the mess in the first place, while their vote counts to create more mess. I’ll lay a thousand-to-one odds that those same people will pretend to be shocked and outraged while we witness the growth of the mess going “forward.”

I can think of a reason why Paul Ryan want not want to do that. They were funded by atheist George Soros, they went up and down the US criticising Paul Ryan at a time when the Bishops were promoting the fortnight for freedom. Sr Simone Campbell claimed the Bishops condemned Paul Ryan’s budget. Bishop Morlino says not the US Bishops but a committee of the Conference, not the US bishops, offered a prudential judgement and he said we do not look to Sisters who are technically laypeople to engage in political issues

Yes, I agree with you, if your point is that uncertainty fosters conservation of resources. I am not so sure that Romney provided any more certainty of anything.

I rather suspect that businesses will do what they have always done, regardless of who is in office. If things look like they are growing, then they will expand. If not, then they will contract, all in anticipation of what they predict.

A lot of the rhetoric from businesses supporting Romney was scare tactics. They wanted those tax cuts he promised, regardless of what impact it might have on our deficits. I think tax cuts are a good thing too. But we need a balanced approach.

I think that Romney might be in office now, if he had just changed his platform to say that he would cut spending, and then cut taxes. But that no taxes would be cut, until the spending measures were already in place. He did say that he would not cut any taxes without cutting spending, but we have heard that promise before. The critical pieces is to cut spending first, then revise the tax code to match what we can afford. Not to cut taxes and then try your best, but fail, to cut spending.

After going through it twice… tax cuts with promises of spending cuts which never happen, which then result in ever larger deficits, while portfolios swell… people were skeptical This opened the door for Obama to say… Oh, let’s just make the rich pay for everything. That wont’ work either to solve the problem, but at least it won’t increase the deficit as much as cutting taxes while increasing spending would.

I know: that applies to everybody - not just to those in business. I’m not sure how it is we separate the interests of the everyday working person or the student or the retiree from the interests of business. If any one of these segments suffers/fails, all the rest are affected. Individualism never built a prosperous nation.

Yes, yet in all this God is still in control. We are still the created, and He is still the Creator.

Actually their competitors will be bankrupt if they try that. They face the same business climate and the same taxes, regulations and healthcare mandates.

I started at my company in 2000, at the time we were $14 million a year in billings - our competitor down the road was only $6 million a year. In 2007 we were $34 million a year in billings, our competitor was $70 million a year. In 2009 we were $24 million a year, our competitor’s owner had blown his brains out at his desk. This year his company is gone, our billings are $26 million a year.
