I can’t believe he took VA.

I totally thought VA was going to go GOP.

I just think I have been spending too much time on CAF and it shaped my perceptions.
Me too Ringil. I had Obama winning with OH, WI, and PA but gave VA along with NH, FL, and CO to Romney. Boy was my math off! 😉

What? How did you get that from what I posted???

You will have companies that hold on to money, not hiring as many employees. They have a chance to survive. They will have the cash on hand to pay for all of Obama’s handouts.

Then you will have companies that will not hold on to money. They are the competitors of the above mentioned saving companies. They will not have the cash on hand to pay for the coming entitlements. They will end up out of business. And, could, rightly, blame Obama.
Sorry that’s the way you see it. The businesses I see playing selfish (and NOT ALL of them are, by any means) are the ones trying to maintain a life of luxury for those at the top, regardless of what’s happening at the bottom. We should not begrudge people their success but there is no inalienable right to be rich at the expense of the rest of a country.

Actually their competitors will be bankrupt if they try that. They face the same business climate and the same taxes, regulations and healthcare mandates.

I started at my company in 2000, at the time we were $14 million a year in billings - our competitor down the road was only $6 million a year. In 2007 we were $34 million a year in billings, our competitor was $70 million a year. In 2009 we were $24 million a year, our competitor’s owner had blown his brains out at his desk. This year his company is gone, our billings are $26 million a year.
Yeah, and Obama caused all of that, single-handedly. There was no recession that spanned the globe…that must have been a figment of my imagination.

I thought that Romney would take FL. I was not sure about VA. Without Ryan, he could have taken VA. The average federal employee saw Ryan’s ideas as a direct threat to their financial well being. I wonder how much of the threat to put the elderly on vouchers played a role in FL which has a large retirement population. That was a bonehead idea, if he wanted the conservative elderly vote.

I figured that Ohio would be the fight. But once FL went blue, the election was over.

How does one become rich at the “expense of the rest of the country”? There does appear to be an inalienable right to be leasure at the expense of the rest of the country though.

It is not selfish to hold on to cash to pay taxes.

I know many business owners. Not one of them live a life of luxury. Everyone of them works as hard or harder than any of their employees. That is how small businesses make it.

Yes, yet in all this God is still in control. We are still the created, and He is still the Creator.
👍

Those who disheartened and dispirited over the results of the election need to remember that. 🙂

God is our God. Not politics, not party affiliation, not whether we win or lose and election, not even our great country.

For those who need a spiritual boost and a refocus, I highly recommend “City of God” by St Augustine.

Puts things in and eternal perspective.

Actually, I think the Bishops were as united and as bold as I have ever seen them act. However, I also think the weak faith held by more than half of all USA Catholics made the Bishops statements meaningless to them. So many Catholics have aborted their babies, and so many Catholics have/use contraception, that they refused to listen. People do not want to hear about their own sins.
They should have dropped the tax exempt status and just spelled it out. I’d rather have a financially bankrupt church than a moral relativist nation where the church is irrelevant anyway. It’s hard to keep the faith in times like this.

20 democrat senators, 12 of whom are in swing or red states are up for reelection in 2014

I agree…yet I am not sure it would have done much good. It will take years for the Bishops to make real changes in hearts. I believe God is also speaking powerfully. It could just as easily be that we are now in a period of minor chastisement, brought both by man and God, in order to help turn us back to God. I suspect (sadly) that the pain for the USA, and for the world, will continue. A Romney victory might very well have messed with the very thing we need the most.

God!

If that’s the way you choose to word it…I would rather avoid the R word and just stick with the concept of basic respect for all human beings whom you wish to have support you. All disrespect is not racism, unless it is selectively applied based on pigmentation.
Seekerz, you just used an R word… RESPECT. 👍

Thank you for your suggestion. I read “City of God” and St. Augustine’s autobiography “Confessions” in college. I’m going to pick up where I left off with “Padre Pio Man of Hope” which, by coincidence, I started just before the election. If Padre Pio can deal with such life-long suffering as he endured, we can survive November 6th. Nonetheless, I am resolved to withdraw from the political process. I will devote my energies to my family and Catholic faith. I have no confidence in America’s government or the Republican and Democratic Partys.
