I’m good with Republicans not changing if they want to keep losing national elections in Presidential yrs.The Republicans have no need to change.

Where’s the strawman? The storm was a large as Europe and only a miracle (or a magic wand) could fix all the damage to utilities in one week. Heck, it takes some college kids that amount of time to clean their dorms.Wow, a quick resort to strawman.
The US cannot go backwards with healthcare. It needs to move forward, and keep the good parts of Obamacare, and scrap the parts that the insurance companies got to write. I think that the mistake was trying to pass one large bill, rather than piecewise improvement to our system.Assuredly I won’t vote in the midterm elections, but I will pray that Republicans keep the House to prevent a repeat of the years 2008-2010. An unfettered Democratic government will yield the equivalent of another ObamaCare.
just curious, how can one be so comfortable inferring racism to someone they don’t even know personally based on a single question posted on a internet forum.Did my comment hit a nerve? That generally means there is some truth to it.
If they want to no longer maintain the status of a national party, who can stop them?I’m good with Republicans not changing if they want to keep losing national elections in Presidential yrs.
They’ll get over it. Just like a kid’s tantrum, some things you just have to ride out…Wall Street sure isn’t liking the outcome![]()
Well, people still blame Bush for Katrina. There will be people that blame Obama for Sandy. That’s what happens when you are president.Obama sent a Europe-sized storm and hid the magic wand to fix its aftermath within a week?Strange, after Dolly did much less damage in a smaller area, the wand was also missing…
When you have leaders who put the goal of defeating the other guy FIRST, before the good of the nation then you end up with wasted time. The US cannot go backwards with healthcare. It needs to move forward, and keep the good parts of Obamacare, and scrap the parts that the insurance companies got to write. I think that the mistake was trying to pass one large bill, rather than piecewise improvement to our system.
But the insurers wanted it that way, and the politicians thought they might only have one opportunity. I doubt that any consumer would have objected to eliminating pre-existing condition bans, or the introduction of competition, or allowing young adults to ride their family policy for a while, etc… Each of these could have been enacted as separate measures.
What was passed was so large, and had the (name removed by moderator)ut of so may special interests, that nobody even knows what will happen with it. Over time, it needs to be amended and tuned to make it work as intended.
The House really does need to stop wasting its time with the symbolic and futile efforts to repeal it. How many times now? 30? Each one wasted. They are acting like a bunch of monkeys who keep forgetting that when they grab the banana in the box, then can’t get their hand back out. Talk about silly. It is time to move on to practical matters, and getting things done which can be accomplished.
Could be. I believe beyond human finite understanding. Forward indeed.Could it be that God’s will is actually done through, with and in his people, his creation…and this is it, the majority has spoken? Dare to believe in something beyond our finite understanding. Dare to believe that this is the best result for our day…forward.
FEMA couldn’t even supply water. Apparently it never occured to them to have a couple trucks of it. Nor could they supply generators to gas stations. My basement is better prepared for something like this than FEMA.Where’s the strawman? The storm was a large as Europe and only a miracle (or a magic wand) could fix all the damage to utilities in one week. Heck, it takes some college kids that amount of time to clean their dorms.
If you’re making Katrina comparisons, then you need to start them around now I believe…it’s been about 10 days now, right?Well, people still blame Bush for Katrina. There will be people that blame Obama for Sandy. That’s what happens when you are president.
Right now, I only blame FEMA. Seems they are good at taking money but being absent when someone needs help.
You don’t have to ask how I am either.Thanks. I don’t have to ask how you’re feeling this morning. :extrahappy:
I don’t buy the false equivalence argument and have no sympathy for white working-class resentment. There are plenty of white men who don’t lament the loss of “white male privilege” and voted for Obama.bellasbane;9986705:
You’ve made some really racist remarks in your post. And you’re putting all white men in the “landed” category. Some of the best people in the world have been white men, such as John Paul II, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Moore, etc. Granted, white people can be bad but so can people of color.Anyone who thinks things were better in the “good old days” of this nation are in essence not so different from someone who would prefer that only landed white men were allowed to vote. They do not lament the loss of a reality, but the loss of white male privilege in a world marked by racism, sexism and discrimination.
Don’t think that racism and sexism only go one way. You’ve demonstrated that in your above statements.
You are far more charitable than I, and God bless you for it.Can we pray this together?
Lord, in my weakness and sin, I fail despite my best intentions. I ask your forgiveness and love, and ask that you fill me with the same.
I partly agree with you, in that crime, punishment, and aid to victims should be a state issues, but the fact is that, especially for a US senator, the issue does come up when they vote to confirm federal judges. Rowe v Wade could have never happened if Senators had only given their advice and consent to Supreme Court justices who stuck to the Constitution instead of making new law based on their own opinions. With all due respect, there is only one answer: "This issue is one that will never come before Congress. " Or if one adds a comment, it should be something to the effect that it is LIBERALS who are most often soft on crime! Rob
Remember - its a revenge vote. You are far more charitable than I, and God bless you for it.
The fact remains that millions of Christians, and maybe the majority of CATHOLICS, voted for the guy who has befriended terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, and race hustler Jeremiah Wright, OVER a man who gave his ENTIRE lucrative inheritance to charity. I can’t wrap my mind around the insanity of this.Rob
I seem to remember HLN statistics on the amount of bottled water FEMA handed out - but maybe you watch different channels…FEMA couldn’t even supply water. Apparently it never occured to them to have a couple trucks of it. Nor could they supply generators to gas stations. My basement is better prepared for something like this than FEMA.
I OTOH have never missed voting in any election and will continue to do so.I’m done with political shows, just as I’m done with the political process. I will never vote again. As a result of last night’s election, I am joining the millions of Americans who ignore elections, legislation, and judicial decisions, regardless of how it affects their individual or family lives. I will pay my taxes and abide by the law. If Catholic charities, universities, and hospitals are forced to close because of the HHS mandate, so be it. America has spoken. I will not listen anymore.
