I want to make myself very clear. I have no animosity towards any CA posters or Barack Obama, for that matter. Once more, I say God bless you all. Congratulations on a hard fought victory. Because of my strong philosophical differences with the course Americans chose yesterday, I’ve simply decided to withdraw from the political process. I’m relinquishing my Republican Party membership and focusing my efforts on Catholic causes. Nothing wrong with that. I am Catholic, first and foremost.
You may be on to something-what if we ALL did that? What if we took all that energy that we have put into electing political candidates into Catholic causes?

If you’re making Katrina comparisons, then you need to start them around now I believe…it’s been about 10 days now, right?
Didn’t blame Bush for Katrina, don’t blame Obama for Sandy. It was weather. Everyone has weather. Sometimes it is bad, sometimes it is good.

The lack of response for Katrina lies with local politicians, they wouldn’t allow federal help.

The lack of response for Sandy lies with FEMA. FEMA seems to know how to take money but doesn’t seem to know how to provide aid. Typical government job.

You are far more charitable than I, and God bless you for it.
The fact remains that millions of Christians, and maybe the majority of CATHOLICS, voted for the guy who has befriended terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, and race hustler Jeremiah Wright, OVER a man who gave his ENTIRE lucrative inheritance to charity. I can’t wrap my mind around the insanity of this. Rob
If I give away all that I have and offer my body to be burned…and never repudiate the ‘lamanite’ doctrine - what have I gained? I can’t wrap MY mind around how some Christians might not appreciate this.

75% of Latinos voted for the President; in the 90 percentile for blacks. They saw the voter registration cards for what they were - GOP efforts to disenfranchise the poor, the “moochers.”.

Outreach to other than white males would have been the smarter move IMO.
I see a need for the Republicans to push for real immigration reform and it will involve compromise. The Democrats don’t care about reform and they did nothing about it in four years–they already get the overwhelming vote from Hispanics.

Second, we need a lot of evangelization for a group that is overwhelming Catholic, but has a majority of babies born to unmarried mothers, a high abortion rate, and votes 75% for the most pro-abortion president ever.

Catholics just voted for 4 more years of this, so why would you be hopeful that it will turn around???
God still happens to be in change - even of the Democrats. I have no illusions this will turn around until much suffering is endured and He ordains it; indeed, God might see fit to let us stew a bit in our own perversion and blindness, but that does not give us permission to despair, nor to stop praying.
The Church was sheepish and did not do ENOUGH to spell out the desired result, and will pay the price for it’s weak leadership.
I agree the bishops did not have a united voice, but the purification of the Church is a huge part of this. People are confused…they mistakenly thought this was a political process when in actuality it is a spiritual battle - as old as time itself. The Good News - we know what will happen in the end.

It was weather for which neither POTUS is to blame, but the responsibility for lack of response is local in one case and federal in the next? How does that work? To read the posts on here, FEMA is responsible for distributing water so why was there water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink in N.O.?

The money I previously donated to Romney could have gone to a Catholic cause. The time my daughter spent working on Romney’s campaign could have been devoted to a Catholic cause. Instead of attending a GOP rally, I should have scheduled myself for the Stand Up For Religious Freedom rally. I will now prioritize my Catholic faith over previous concerns I might have had for America, while continuing to render unto Caesar what is due Caesar.

I believe we are in a historic (for the USA) time of spiritual battle.

Note how your mind avoids my question of how you can choose Obama, a pal of Wright and Ayers, over an insanely generous man, Romney. I am sorrow-filled knowing that there are so many decent people such as you who have somehow gone astray from goodness and Truth.
I’ll say no more today. I’ve expressed enough of my thoughts for one day.

I voted for him too.

Can we still pray that together?

Keep gloating, sir.
I merely stated a fact that Allen West lost his election and I am happy with the election results. That is a far cry from the definition of gloating. I am not dancing up and down. 🤷

You did have good Electoral College numbers though. You just had them assigned to the wrong candidate.
Can you stop with the smug, juvenile remarks today? We are in for a four-year hangover for you guys doing something that felt great in the moment, Dude. 😦 Rob

What makes Wright’s doctrines better or worse than those Romney has embraced? I’m not the one ignoring the obvious. Wright was repudiated by Obama, whether you accept that as genuine or not. When has Romney repudiated the doctrine of the lamanites?

How many Catholics did so? I thought I saw someone on the thread said 50%?

You can, Dave, say you tried, and your daughter will never forget her experience in opposing what, I am sure, she saw as the evil in the Obama administration. Sometimes even losing is worthwhile if one can recall that he tried. Not criticizing your reordering of priorities, but we are also called to act on our faith in the city of man. There is always another day.
