They have to own it, like the Dow plunging,

Like Romney’s administration would have created jobs, Obama creates none, that’s the great charity of Obama and his supporters. They deny other Americans jobs.

They should own up to it, better to try to do something.
Why own any of it? The robust recovery of Wall Street was not attributed to Obama, but their tantrumming today must be? Really?

Nate had his opposition including here on CAF. But it was amazing how right he was.
CMatt, the polls were right. Silver works for Newsweek who can’t even sell magazines anymore. He was shooting off his mouth and he had about 50% of a chance of being “right” simply because the split was about 50%.

Who but God can change the “questionable” things in life which elude our puny human efforts?
Indeed. I think, one day, a lot of people are going to get a rude wake-up call when that happens, too.

This will be 8 years of Democrat presidency. They have only themselves to blame for what happens now. Own it, baby. It’s the Democrat’s fault what happens now.

Yup. Own it. And that goes for Catholics too. When the HHS mandate hits, you get no sympathy from me.
In all fairness, in the Catholic constituency are divisions, Union Members, Hispanics. Hispanics are a long term voting block for Democrats and I don’t fault that. It is part of the scenario.

The only division that counts is the religious one because Catholicism is a religion, not an ethnic stamp.

Most catholics vote exactly like the general population, even when Church teaching is involved, and that should tell you something.

Not mine. I pray for the good of our great nation, the House will decide they must cooperate more than they have in the last 2 yrs.
Thankfully they wont. They will gridlock the country to keep Obama from doing more damage.

The House of Representatives needs to sit right down and watch TV. The voters of this country voted for this, and exactly this. Gridlock will help to keep more carnage from happening.

Exactly! That’s why the GOP should have embraced largely Catholic Hispanics, many of whom share the same conservative values as Republicans. Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush have been the only voices of reason in the GOP for the past few years. No one listened to me either. Hispanics could make great Republicans. Oh well, it doesn’t matter to me anymore. I’m done with the GOP or any political party.

75% of Latinos voted for the President; in the 90 percentile for blacks. They saw the voter registration cards for what they were - GOP efforts to disenfranchise the poor, the “moochers.”.

Outreach to other than white males would have been the smarter move IMO.
I agree. I know some thought this should have been a gimme election for the Republicans due to a slower economic recovery than we would all like. The GOP has a lot of soul searching to do IMHO.

Yes,…but what exactly does that meen? I am asking sincerely. I hear everyone say this but what in you mind would be them being cooperative?

The huge secret that no one wants to talk about, Dave, is that ethnic identity does not EVER predict religiosity or fidelity to Church teaching and practice. It doesn’t work that way.

It only used to LOOK that way because of all the immigrants who came into this country not knowing anything else. That’s all gone now. You can’t make someone Catholic for life against their will. It doesn’t really work that way.

Per what?

Example:

2008, Catholics for Obama 54%, Catholics for McCain 45%
White Catholics for Obama 47%, White Catholics for McCain 52%

pewforum.org/Politics-and-Elections/How-the-Faithful-Voted.aspx

Pat Buchanan called Hispanics “big government people”, judge that however you want. Yes, that is a generalization however it is one that some might agree with. Marco Rubio vs. say the Mayor of Los Angeles.

These demographics are still a part of the equation.

Obama supporters will be accountable along with Obama when this country goes over a financial cliff. I’m glad I did not vote for such.

I don’t know where you’re getting your numbers but Catholics don’t vote in a bloc anymore. The last Catholic bloc vote was 1960, the election of John Kennedy.

For the last 50 years, Catholics have been statistically the same as the general population in way too many metrics to count, including voting patterns. In fact, that’s a badge of pride for many Catholics, who have what they always wanted more than life itself–mainstream respectability and lack of shame for being Catholic.
