Which is why CBS News runs “Fallen Heros” all the time. And why Democrats in Congress staged a marathon reciting the names of those lost.

Honoring the fallen is a good thing. Our casualties have been so light compared to the numbers who died in Vietnam that it is worthwhile for Americans, most of whom don’t know any soldiers who are in Iraq, to be reminded of the ultimate sacrifice some have made.

It’s one thing to say, “Two Marines were killed in Fallujah today,” and another to recite the names of PFC John Doe of Oil City, PA and SGT Bill Roe of North Little Rock, AR in public. The latter personalizes the tragedy and honors two men who will otherwise go unrecognized except by their families and friends.

I found reading the list of the fallen and seeing their pictures to be most moving.

Liberals don’t honor the fallen.

The schtick is to report in detail every death, not report positive developments, and end a piece by saying “What does this mean for the war? Are we in a quagmire? Some think so”.

For cover they get all teary eyed about the fallen. The recite the names not to honor them but to demoralize the public and thereby encourage the terrorists.

All the left cares about is regaining power. To liberals if dead Americans will accomplish that, good.

Go to any liberal forum. They monitor deaths 24/7, post everyone and gloat about how this latest death is bad for Bush.

As a general rule I disregard anything Christopher Hitchens has to say. The guy hates Mother Theresa, Catholicism, God, and religion in general. I see no reason to care about his viewpoint about the war or anything else.

MoveAmericaForward.com is organzing a talk radio host junket to Iraq. It was sparked by a Sgt in Iraq. Washington Post reporters visited his area, saw the schools and clinics being built but reported on nothing (no Americans being killed in his area).

Ellis Henican (sp?) was just on FOX NEWS screaming that this is a propaganda trip, the military is paying for it (it isn’t, talk radio people are paying $3,500 to $15,000 each) and they will see a sanitized version of the war.

Liberals aren’t out trying to use the war for their political advantage no matter how many Americans die as a result?

Tell it to the troops. They think the liberal media is doing exactly that.

Chris Hitchens is one of those reporters just like in the nursery rhyme about the little girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead, when he is good, he is very good and when he is bad, he is horrid.

I know this isn’t really about the topic of the thread, but I thought it a good place to make a plug for the Marine Corps. I’m in the Navy and work with about 325 Marines, and every one I’ve talked to, without exception, would rather be in Iraq next to their fellow Marines, than be here stateside. Every one! I can’t tell you how proud I am of these young Marines, who are ready and willing to go fight, and even die, in order to secure freedom for people they don’t even know. Unfortunately, the media agenda is not to show the bravery and selflessness of these young men and women, but to show how horrible and wrong this war is. Whether or not it’s really justified, I don’t know, but we’re there and we should show our support for those who are fighting it. Let’s pray for our armed forces and for anyone else who is making a sacrifice for the sake of freedom.

HOORAH, Marines!!!
