The visions of Pope St. Pius X have been mentioned before. The 1909 vision specified that the Pope would leave Rome. The 1914 vision referred to a “successor of the same name” who would take refuge in some hiding place after leaving Vatican City. The easy interpretation here is that the second vision is simply a supplemental clarification to the first. But I have come to the conclusion that these two visions refer to different people: the first to the active Pope and the second to the “successor of the same name” who is not the the acting Pope.

That interpretation would mean that these visions can only apply to the present situation where we have a retired Pope living in Vatican City who additionally shares his first name with Giuseppe Sarto. Note that the second vision does not require its subject to have to walk. He could be carried if unable to do that.

Of course. Some of us sooner than others.

And remember: it’s only our BODIES that die. Our souls are immortal.

Well, according to St. Thomas Aquinas, we’ll have the bodies we had when we were 30. IIRC, that’s the age when we are at our prime as adults. (This is assuming you didn’t die before age 30.)

Yeah, from a secular view, those 3 are contenders. I’m surprised no one pointed out that even if we don’t kill the planet, or the planet kill us or drop the population, eventually the sun gets us.

There’s a lot of world-building that goes into a doomsday story. You have to figure out both what you’re blowing up and why you’re doing it. So in one sense, it matters whether the world dies of Our Stupid versus the world dies because of the Second Coming. But I figure we’ll die of lack of water long before we have to worry about the sun. See On world-building and Things Go Boom.

I heard something different. We are going to have our bodies around the age of 33

I’m kinda hoping for an exemption. I really, really, really don’t want my 33 year old self.

As well as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, strolling through the streets, crushing friend and foe alike, smiling and waving all the time because, you know, he’s the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. That’s what marshmallow men do.

There remains the question as to the cause of the disaster that is predicted by the two visions of Pope St. Pius X. An intervention by ISIS troops bearing small arms might cause many casualties, but such an event would not seem to allow for the escape of prominent persons.
Those same persons might be able to shield themselves from a poison gas attack and then make an escape by either using protective devices or by waiting until the gas has dispersed.

If there is a breakdown of the social order (think widespread rioting and looting) it would be possible during the confusion

Hmph. I thought I had posted a reply to this but it’s not showing up.

If there is a large amount of social unrest (IOW, lots of rioting in and around Rome), it’s possible prominent people could escape in the confusion.

Prediction number 112 mentions a “persecution” of the Church which would mean an aggressive act by some human force. It’s my belief that this prediction is tied to the visions of Pius X.

It’s seems a simple push pin would solve that problem. 😠 or, the horn of a narwhal, but seriously, where you gonna find a narwhal horn?
