If I had met Sean Bean, my wife would have knocked me down getting to him. She liked Boromir; she is a wild-eyed, raving, Richard Sharpe fanatic. If you say you’ve met Sean Bean I’ll get as jealous as the time you told me you met George Romero! I’m a big Bean fan. He’s a total CLASS ACT! He’s the man!

I see Larkin helped you. But also if you truly are interested you could do like me and look up various sources online and actually go to a source in your community. I have corresponded with clergy of various churches about their churches including ELCA, DoC, PCUSA, SDA, TEC, UCC, UMC. I have yet to ever receive an email in return from a Catholic priest. I have in a couple of instances from a Catholic parish director and a Bible Study leader. Anyway I once asked a UCC pastor what the process of membership is in his church. His answer included a series of questions to which a person would need to affirm. Not the least being:That’s wonderful, but from just that statement of faith, it seems that one could conclude Jesus was a holy man, prophet, or even some strange being a la the early heresies of Nestorianism, Arianism, or modalism.
A local rector of one of TEC parishes near me said very little dissension and no exodus of churches in her diocese. That may be, but my parish is growing steadily every year and if things continue as they are, we’ll be among the largest parishes in the diocese. Can’t speak for the other areas of the country. But even if its true, for us its not about quantity, but the quality of believers.

Do you profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?
So there ya go.Peace.
Ahh now Gurney you know I’m quirkier than you are!Just out of curiosity, why were you asking that pastor about UCC anyway? That wouldn’t even be anywhere on my radar as a possible church!!
That’s fideism and it’s explicitly contrary to the teaching of the Catholic Church (CCC #37.)
Why oh why does it have to be Church Divinity School of the Pacific? I like that school. I have friends who go there, or have gone there. I know Catholic priests who have had classes there.Episcopal Committee Is Working on Gay Rite
Armed with a new $400,000 grant and the support of the Episcopal Church, a Berkeley seminary is convening priests from across the country to craft the liturgical rite for same-sex couples to receive religious blessings.
The new rite, which will take years to complete, will most likely consist of a series of original prayers, Bible readings and two essays: one on the theological meaning of same-sex blessings, and one advising priests who administer the new rite. If approved, the new blessing would be just the third addition to Episcopal liturgy since 1979.
…
you need a flexible creed to have a flexible doctrineFor one, I don’t see the Trinity in there, or any mention that Christ is part of the Trinity except for the word “Lord” which could be interpreted in several ways. It’s rather vague and squishy language.
I have to agree here. When I read it the first thing I thought was, ‘well is Jesus God or just a prophet?’That’s wonderful, but from just that statement of faith, it seems that one could conclude Jesus was a holy man, prophet, or even some strange being a la the early heresies of Nestorianism, Arianism, or modalism.
