Rev. Rob Lee IV, descendant of Robert E. Lee, continues to speak out against the white supremacy that has crept into some parts of Christianity in America.

This is needed. One of the causes of this infection in the church is the merging of politics with religion, and a greater loyalty to the state than to the church.

The church is a nonpolitical force in the world; it transcends party affiliations. Arguments about which political party is or is not racist or which party started the trend toward white supremacy crumble in the face of this:

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands” Revelation 7:9

I’m not sure the influence of white supremacists is a new phenomenon. I think it’s been strong in various denominations for many, many years.

Should we eradicate black supremacy in the African Church while we are at it?

There are 7 continents. Africa is one of them. (1 / 7)x100 = 100%?

White supremacy is being hyped up in the media while other supremacy groups advocating racial inclusiveness and self segregation are being put on a pedestal and labeled as “brave” and “pride.”

White, black, or any ethnic tribalism does nothing but divide people. We are so much more than our skin color but so many people including both progressives and extremists seem to forget that.

Not too much is wrong with heritage, especially if it is based in Christ.

He isn’t part of the Church, he’s part of an insane splinter group.

Whatever he’s part of, it would seem that paranoid delusions are a bigger problem.

I think MLK Jr had paranoid delusions. I also think much of it was caused by the way he was treated by the FBI.

The notion that “white supremacy” (whatever that is) is pervasive today is most certainly a paranoid delusion. This is obvious.

Not just Nazis but any group that advocates harm towards anyone. We treat radical islam as terrorists because of what they do. Why hasn’t the government labeled these other groups as terrorists groups too and get rid of them. Nazis, BLM, street gangs, they all fall into this catergory.

What groups are you talking about? Who advocates harm to who?

The government hasn’t gotten rid of groups you disagree with because we have freedom of speech. People are allowed to disagree with you.

I would hesitate to use the term “eradicating”. The whole purpose of being an American is freedom of thought. White Supremacy can only be “eradicated” by punishing thought. If unorthodox thought is punished, then any one who thinks differently than those in power, Christians included, are at risk of “eradication”.

As a church, we must work towards conversion, charity, and repentance, not “eradication”.

True. Maybe stronger nowadays.
Stronger might not be the right word - I’d say “emboldened.” Part of it is the wide dissemination of information via the internet, making it easier for white supremacists to connect with people of like mind, as well as increasing their visibility. The garbage fire that is our current state of politics definitely has something to do with it as well.

“white supremacy” in the Catholic Church as well?
We haven’t had a Black or Asian Pope yet, have we?

I’d say it’s more “Italian-centric” than white supremacist. JPII was the first non-Italian pope in centuries, and a disproportionate number of canonized saints are Italians. Even Pope Francis is an ethnic Italian.
