Because those regions are still Mission territory for the most part… It makes sense there would be less Catholics, and therefore priests, and therefore cardinals, and therefore Popes from those regions.
Maybe someday. Would love to see it happen. The Filipinos or Vietnamese deserve a Pope in my opinion. Heavily Catholic countries. Somegreat priests too.
If that ever happens, I’ll get a Celtic Cross tattoo to commemorate it.What about Irish? I’ve yet to meet an Irish priest that wasn’t awesome!
Actually those are more of a problem because so many people dismiss these forms of supremacy. They are allowed to fester. It is no more a problem than black power or La Raza.
This is true as far as it goes, but probably not in the sense that you intended it.Not too much is wrong with heritage, especially if it is based in Christ.
And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham. (Matthew 3:9)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. (James 2:8-9)
No human heritage matters-- yes, that’s true even (especially!) of ‘Western’ culture. The myth that the West is built on Christianity or is somehow inherently Christian should be refuted before more folks wind up thinking that Jesus was an American who loved BBQ, apple pie and the Star-Spangled Banner.Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment. (John 7:24)
