👍 EWTN…want my testimony?

In town, see on the side of the road one of those benches that people can just take a rest on…well, it was advertising local Catholic Radio…so I tune it (for some reason, lol)

(Now please remember this was about four years ago)…

I don’t remember the program, but they mentioned Priests for Life. Next thing I know, I’m on the computer, viewing that site, and wow, I’m totally Pro-Life now and contributor to Fr Pravone’s (sp?) group.

Then, I would catch “The Doctor Is In” occasionally. Now, I’m only listening while in the vehicle.

Next thing I know, I’ve grabbed a small radio and have it plugged in while I’m cooking supper, listening to Catholic Answers. And then I started to contribute to the local station.

Local station went off the air two years ago. So, I listened to Catholic Radio for two years, I became a member of this forum (heard through radio, of course)…

Now, I’m on my way home.

After four years, which started out with EWTN on radio, I’m becoming a Catholic. (and I started out as a southern Baptist, went Presbyterian, went Episcopalian…)

🤷
Wonderful story! If we knew the amount of people EWTN has brought to or back to the Catholic faith, it would most likely make our heads spin.🙂

I dont think that EWTN dont want to be that traditional with regards to the liturgy. The problem is the suppression by the bishop for them to televise a great traditional liturgy. EWTN converted many unbelievers and i am one of them.

I just hope that the bishop will not suppress the airing of TLM in EWTN. Let them fight the suppression though it is hard for them because of holy obedience.

Did anyone see the advertisement on EWTN last week for some or other program explaining about the TLM? I know there was going to be something on; was it Saturday morning? However I didn’t have time to check it out. Shoot.
Pax Christi,
Ann
PS–EWTN’s fine by me and if it weren’t for them, I’d probably chuck the TV out the window. Seriously.

I was flipping around the channels today and came across the Mass on EWTN…I only stayed on it for about 2 or 3 minutes, but it seemed that it was being said in Latin (?!) Anyone know what’s up with that? It was kind of cool 🙂

Wait…what…? Mother Angelica was “kicked off” of EWTN? I thought she was just getting really old and was having lots of health problems…Too bad, she’s a hot ticket 🙂 I love Mother!

Usually, the Daily Mass on EWTN has portions in Latin, as the Missal of Pope Paul VI was originally written in Latin.

They usually do various parts of the Mas including before and after the readings, the Our Father and the prayers after it, the dismissal, etc. It is still NO but done reverently. I wish all NO masses were like this.

Spin away!! I was "surfing’ one day and saw a nun with a black eye patch. At first I thought it was some kind of joke so I HAD to watch and see what was going on. Well, I just loved Mother Angelica right away and started watching for her. That led to watching other programs, which in turn led me to RCIA and becoming Catholic at Easter of 2006.

I was an Episcopalian and not planning on going anywhere when I started watching “some crazy old nun” on a cable channel I’d never heard of in 1987. I couldn’t quit watching her. My family’s road to conversion took ten years, but we made the journey home in 1997–thanks in large part to Mother Angelica and EWTN.

Helloooooooo. She had a stroke! Hopefully she’ll rebound again from this illness as she has so many others but to say that she was kicked out is quite silly. There’s more than a few of the friars who wouldn’t sit by and say nothing about it if she were indeed kicked out.

Fr. Corapi’s good…Even better I like Fr. George Rutler, ‘Christ in the City’ and Fr. Bing Arellano, ‘One in their Hearts’–ever watch these shows? I really like both of 'em.👍

Ann

EWTN is a good Catholic network, but remeber this they are still under their Ordinary Bishop so they can’t just do whatever their like from liturgy to whatever.

EWTN has brought countless souls home to Christ in His holy Roman Catholic Church.

Just last weekend I was visiting a hospital and praying with a Catholic lady. As I was leaving her roommate called out that she enjoyed hearing our prayers and that even though she is not Catholic, she watches EWTN. So I prayed with her too and told her it was not too late!

Mother Angelica had to retire due to her strokes. She prays and suffers behind the scenes.

WE MUST PRAY FOR A HOLY AND FAITHFUL NEXT BISHOP FOR BIRMINGHAM!! Then we will see the televised TLM. When Bp. Foley would not allow the televising of the ‘ad orientem’. Mother said, “Fine, then we will not televise the sisters’ Mass which is said that way and we will have a separate Mass for televising.” And that is what they did. It is in the book.

Mother Angelica and her EWTN have been evangelists ‘par excellence’.

Hi Tim:
Since you like Fr. Rutler too, I’d like to share a little story with you…

My Cousin was married a few years ago during one of the worst snow storms Manhattan has seen in a long time. As we approached the Church of our Savior, I was astonished to see Fr. George Rutler outside quietly shoveling snow before the ceremony began! I had no idea that the wedding was taking place at his parish! So he finished shoveling, and then officiated at the ceremony.

The Church of our Savior is truly breathtakingly beautiful, and of course Fr. Rutler’s homily was first rate. My only regret: there wasn’t a nuptial Mass—my cousin had married a non-Catholic……Oh well, my family and I went back for Mass there the next morning before leaving New York.
Pax Christi,
Ann

I just wish we got EWTN on digital cable here in Sweden! 😉 I hate having to watch it through broadband connection when I watched on tv for real when vacationing back home in WNY. 😉

ETWN was a big part on my conversion to the Catholic Church. I have it on all the time. Love it and love Mother Angelica. I went up there and it was awsome. Went to a live “Life on the Rock” show and got a picture with Father Francis. Some people have athletes as heros…my heros are priests. God bless EWTN.
