The election of Trump is more the symptom not the cause of division.

There already was an idealogical divide in the US even before the the election of Trump.

I don’t doubt it, it’s quite some time since we lived in the US but the signs of division were clear even to foreigners like us.

However, my reference to ‘divisive’ was within a UK context (he says divisive things), I don’t talk about the US, it’s not my business.
