Sorry don’t see it yet. FAITH ALONE keep trying! Will check back later. By the way, will you answer my questions I posted? They are easy ones. STIll waiting!
Though it is becoming obvious that you are not as serious about learning what is the truth (because we know there can only be One Truth) as I first believed, I’m not tired and will continue on.

James 2:14-26 Faith without works is dead:eek:😃

I think where I’m having problems tackling your question is the way it is worded. “Justified by faith alone?”
I’m made righteous through Jesus. Is it my FAITH in Jesus, or is it Jesus? See what I mean? It is Jesus that justifies me. To me, it’s a funny question because how can I be made righteous by faith alone if I don’t have Jesus? If I don’t believe, I don’t have faith and I don’t have Jesus. It is only Him who makes me righteous, and if I don’t have Him…

I am justified through Jesus ALONE.
THIS I can show you. And I’ll have to assume since you’re gone for the night that with all the legalistic things you’ve been asking about, that at the core of your question is “do we have to DO something to be justified?”
To that I will answer “No. Jesus did it for us when he died and was resurrected. We are made righteous THROUGH Him.” There is no other way, and THAT I can show you.

That’s the same one line out of context that Jehovah Witnesses use to work their way to heaven.
Someone is a bit presumptuous. How could he be taking it out of context? All he did was quote a verse of scripture. And you throw him in with the JW’s? If you have a problem with the verse, maybe you should take it up with James? Or God since He is the author of Scripture and all scripture is profitable remember. Not just the ones that you think fit with your man made traditions.

God bless

A far cry from out of context. See also Gen 22 and Josh 2. I am a far cry from a JW. At least I am not hetrodox!
Context had nothing to do with it. All you did was quote a verse of scripture.* Always* was being presumptuous. He doesn’t like what the verse is saying until he has been allowed to explain it away.

God bless you and welcome to our most holy faith.

I am assuming this is a trend then? 😦
God bless you and welcome to our most holy faith.
Thank you 😃

Ok, it is by faith that I accept God’s Perfect Gift, Jesus Christ. I am justified (made righteous) through Him ALONE. Let’s see what the scripture says:

Acts 13:39
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 3:24
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Romans 4:2-5
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Romans 8:30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

1 Corinthians 6:11
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 3:11
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 5:4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Titus 3:7
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

A far cry from out of context. See also Gen 22 and Josh 2. I am a far cry from a JW.
Didn’t mean for you to be offended.
I was simply saying that taking one line of scripture out of context can be very misleading, especially to people who might not go look for themselves. We should always be true to God’s Word and not just use it to win an argument, right?

James 2 in context is simply saying that faith in Christ would/should produce in you an ACTIVE life that shows. Faith is active. That’s his whole point.

Yes the law does point out our sins. Still does not justify faith alone.

I grow weary of explaining one by one. None of the above prove faith alone without works or Tradition. See the following link.

Have a blessed Easter. He has risen. Will continue Monday maby Sunday night.

Continuing my scriptural answer to Rinnie, searching “righteous”:

Romans 1:17
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 3:21-22
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Romans 3:26
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Romans 5:17-19
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Romans 5:21
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 8:10
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Romans 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 Corinthians 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

There’s more, but with Easter tomorrow, I can’t think of a better verse to end on.
Praise God! Because of what Jesus did for me, I will someday stand before Him righteous, justified. Through His Blood ALONE.

Happy Resurrection Day, y’all! 🙂

I did not know Luther was praying the rosary at his death. Now I feel a litter more at peace about being a rosary praying LCMS member. Maybe we will come back one at a time. Since there are not much for talks between Rome and the LCMS.
Unfortunately, the journey will be difficult as Rome will refuse to make any compromises- leaving all the work up to our siblings in the Lutheran churches.

I did not say we were justified by the law. YOU took out of context.
Workingman, I was answering another member’s question about justification. I’m usually pretty careful about addressing the members I’m talking to. Sorry about that.😊

Evangelical Christianity is the fastest growing form of Christianity right now. That’s why Asia is converting so rapidly.
Why not? It’s so easy to be Evangelical- you don’t have to do anything! No confession, no obligation to serve others, and you can be as greedy and guilt-free as you want! Gimme gimme gimme Jesus! The ease of living as an Evangelical is what drew me to the Evangelical church. It’s also what eventually convinced me of the truth of the Catholic faith and brought me home… Tiber swim team '09!!!

Have a blessed Easter. He has risen. Will continue Monday maby Sunday night.
Cool!
Ok, to bring you up to where we are, Rinnie ask me if we are justified by faith ALONE. I posted the only scripture I knew that said we were “justified by faith”, but she wanted something that said “faith ALONE”. Well, the question itself is odd to me because it’s by faith that I received the Gift of Salvation, and then I was justified. Justified by Jesus ALONE. So rewording her question to one I could answer, I posted a ton of scripture that says it is through Jesus we are justified.

So now you are caught up. 🙂

I should have wished y’all **“Happy Justification Day!” **Check out how this awesome scripture ends:

“The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.** He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”**
~Romans 4:23-25

Do you want to hear my answers, or God’s? There can only be One Truth, right?

"If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. ~1 John 5:9-10

Do we need to eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood in order to have eternal life?
No. If we needed to to have eternal life, Jesus would have said “Do this in order to have eternal life” because He didn’t leave anything about salvation to chance.
We don’t do it to get something, especially something not promised! We do so solemnly and with reverence, glorifying Him for His sacrifice for us.

“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”~Matthew 26:26-28

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” ~1 Corinthians 11:23-26

So what does God’s Word say about the purpose of the Lord’s Supper?
  1. To do it (take the Lord’s Supper)
  2. To do it in remembrance of Him and of His Blood that was shed for the sins of many
  3. To proclaim His death on the Cross until He comes again.
Do we need to labor for the food which endures to eternal life?
(Jesus speaking to some of the five thousand that had been fed)
"Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” ~John 6:26-29

Do we need to keep the commandments in order to have eternal life?
No. If we needed to keep the commandments in order to have eternal life, Jesus would have said “I go to prepare a place for you. Keep My commandments and you will be saved”. Did He say that? No. He said “Whosoever believes will have eternal life”
We keep His commandments because we love Him.

John 14:15
If you love Me, keep My commandments.

1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

2 John 1:6
This is love, that we walk according to His commandments.

Does Love have anything to do with our Salvation?
Love has EVERYTHING to do with our salvation.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes shall have eternal life”.

Listen to the seriousness of this message where Jesus is quoting the prophesy of Isaiah:
Code:
" ‘ These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
~Matthew 15:8-9

Your first three questions are the doctrines of men. They are not Biblical. If they are taught to you as commandments, Jesus is saying that your worship is in vain.
Sorry, but I do want to learn the truth. Now Do we need to eat the flesh, You said no. Scripture says yes. John 6:51-54

Do we need to labor for the food which endures to eternal life. Again you said no. scripture says yes John 6:27.

Do we need to keep the commandments. Once again you said no. scripture says yes Matt 19:17

No according to salvation by faith alone. the answer to all of these questions should be no. Because they are works. But scripture tells quite a different story.

Last but not least Does Love have anything to do with our salvation, you got that one right, but there is a problem with that. You said yes. but if you said yes, You just shot yourself in the foot. In order to be saved by faith alone, Love has no role in our salvation, Sorry Love is a work. Now here is scripture that kicks you salvation by faith alone. 1 cor 13:13 tells us that Love is greater than faith, How can that be if faith alone saves us?

Now you want to learn the truth, how can your truth be completely against the word of God. For all Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Cool!

You darn right I did. And you can’t answer it can you. Show it to me then, why is the question odd you keep preaching it. You said we are justiied by Grace ALone not works did you not? SO show me the scripture, OR did you add to it? By the way loved the scripture and believe every word of it. Its my faith. Do I agree that we are justified by Faith, heck yeah I do the bible tells me so. But you said we are justified by faith ALONE no works. thats what this is about. Now all I did was ask you to show me where it says faith ALONE. You have refused or been unable to do so to date, Now why. If you are correct and My Church is wrong why cant’t you prove your point. Still waiting? I can prove my point. ANd can’t wait to. But you first. Will be gone most of day for Easter so may not be back till later or tommow. But take your time. I will give you every opportunity.
