Quite frankly I figure that I could witness you under a table in a heartbeat considering that I come form a long history of practice and that when I was off playing prot games, this WAS
my thing.===============================================================================
Hi C.M. You need to get rid of your prideful attitude. It would be better for you to retain the good and throw out what you consider the bad. This is not about PLAYING GAMES. The salvation of the lost is not a game. Its the commission Christ called us to obey. Any one who has no desire to witness to the lost is not saved themselves. God Bless

Spoken,

What is the retention rate in the methods you implore? 10%

In Ray Comfort’s Book, *Hell’s best Kept Secret *he states that the average fall out rate in the type of evangelism you espouse in 90%! 90% Spoken. That is 90% of people you “win” eventually walk away and are worse off for it.

Christ and His Apostles evangelized through relationship, true relationships, long lasting relationships. This is the way to do it, not your tag’em and bag’em method.

Peace

Really??? A 90% fallout rate??? That is amazing!!! Or…maybe not. I do believe that relationship is one of the best ways of evangelizing. In fact, some of the “best” evangelizing denominations actually teach their members to build friendships first, and then convert.

Spoken, you seen to be the one with a prideful attitude. Reading your posts you accuse all of us of not properly “witnessing” to other while telling all of us how you do such a great job following Jesus’ commission. I think it is you who need to take a look in the mirror regarding pridefulness. The people on this thread have been more than willing to share the ways in which they evangelize, and you have constantly “looked down” upon them because they don’t evangelize in the way you think they should.

PeaceHi Dennis, I ve personally have not read the book. Yes it is an amazing statistic. Then by the same token Jesus said many are called but FEW are chosen. Actually 10 out of every 100 are true converts. Its not about numbers its about true conversions. 😉 God Bless P/S Dennis did you read this book?

Hi Tk. Personally I believe you will see many die before relationships have been established. God Bless

You are correct tkd. Every time someone shares their method of evangelization, SW responds with, “just more excuses”

That kind of response is rude and uncharitable.

PeaceHi Dennis , I believe you really need to pick up a copy of this book and read it. You are misquoting a statistic here. What Ray is talking about is the way modern evangelization is taking place not the method I,m talking about. He cannot because Ray Comforts book ,called the way of the Master is the book on how to evangelize the way Jesus did. So please get your facts correct. God Bless

Are you saying that Ray Comforts’ statistics are wrong? They are his, not mine.

Are you saying that the 90% is a false reference to his work?

His book is about presenting people the Law which says if they do no follow it they will be condemned, and so they must choose Christ in order to avoid hell. His premise is that people need to know what they are being saved from in order to truely understand salvation. His biggest beef with modern evangelization is it offers people a cookie instead of a parachute as the plain goes down.

Peace

This is what I have posted on the “Should We Evangelize Protestants” forum thread:

I think one major error the Protestant churches have made collectively is this “ambush evangelism,” whereby they approach even the slightest of acquaintances and assault them with the “are you saved” pop quiz.

Seems to me this has become popular just within the past 100-200 years, and even more so within the past 75. We have people shouting from street corners again, a la John the Baptist! And they’re handing out tracts in shopping malls, at parades, at concerts, at nightclubs, in theme parks, and everywhere else they can find large masses of heathens. Why? Gotta make those instant converts.

Clearly you can see by now what I think of modern evangelism. At it’s best, it captures a few desperates who will most likely revert to their old lifestyles for lack of real commitment and/or proper discipleship. What’s more, these people will be twice as hard to convert the second time around. Now they’ve been burned by religion and they’re all the wiser.

Having said this, I think there is a very real need to be a witness to the lost, but in a FAR, far different manner. We are called to be candles of light, not flame throwers. People need to notice that we live differently without our religiously pointing it out to them. This past week I have welcomed several people into my home, and all of them asked what the ribbons on the doorpost meant. Next thing you know we were talking about John Paul II.

These types of conversations are much more natural and therefore more conducive to true evangelism than overt proselytizing. The last thing any of us wants to do is to turn someone away from the Church forever by being overzealous. And let’s not forget, it is God Himself who has to change their hearts. The very BEST we can do for them is to PRAY.:bowdown2:

And personally I believe the way you are espousing as the only way to truly evangelize will see many turn away that wouldn’t have if you would take the time to actually talk to them instead of throwing religion at them from the get go.

And personally…it doesn’t matter what you or I believe, only that we follow the will of God and what HE believes!

Spokenword,

Just out of curiosity, I’d like to know how many people you’ve personally converted to the Church, and out of that number, how many have stayed more than a year?

Hi Tk, Of course I have to disagree with you. But I do agree with your last statement. I believe it is the will of the father that we preach the Good News. It,s what Jesus did. 👍 God Bless

If he is honest, he will tell you none… only God can convert. And He will convert SW in His time.

If you wouldn’t mind…could you give us your exact definition of evangelization? Seems maybe we’re all looking at evangelization from different view points.

Hi Dennis,The 90% Ray is refering to is the way of modern evangelisizm, not his way.His way of presenting the Law to the lost brings true conversions. They see through the Law the need for a Savior. Rays way is biblical because its the way the Lord did it. 😉 God Bless
