Fr. Corapi has a powerful voice. The opening to his program has to be one of the most attention getting and authoratative sounding.

I also like Fr. Groeschel who does not mince words either.

Incidentally, I did not know he was a former army NCO. Good for him. I was well before seminary. Hoooah!👍

Rev Dr. North

I didn’t say I ‘wanted’ to hit him. I said I could ‘imagine’ myself doing so, and that it was an unpleasant thought. No, I would NEVER hit a priest. That’s not what I meant. It’s just that I could imagine myself getting very angry if someone stood in my face, barking what he hollers at the world on TV. I am not a violent person. 👍
I’m curious what you thought of your teachers throughout all of your schooling? (You do realize that he is teaching during a good part of the programing, don’t you?) Did your teachers say things like this is it, this is the way it is?

Fr. Corapi is a wonderful speaker…some people’s voices are more powerful than others, and he does have the knack for hitting the right emphasis in his stories with the tone/lilt of his voice.

I agree with LovedForever, there is something in you that you need to discern for yourself with prayer why Fr. Corapi brings this side of you out. Good luck with that, and God bless.

From what I have read in your posts on this forum, you seem to be a very consciencious and sincere Catholic Christian. I can’t think of anything that Fr. Corapi has ever said that should make you feel uneasy or frightened. His harshness, if you want to call it that, is always directed toward those who have distorted the faith and led the sheep of God astray, or those who don’t take their faith seriously at all, and presume on Christ’s mercy. I just don’t see you fitting those categories at all. 🙂

Don’t be afraid of Fr. Corapi! 😉
The thing that got me is his statement that we parents are responsible for our chilren’s souls, and he told a story of a woman who went to confession to Fr. Padre Pio, who told her that her children would end up in hell due to her over-permissiveness. This just scared the daylights out of me ever since I heard that.

I have not heard all that much of Father Corapi. But I have to say when* first* heard him I didn’t care for his style all that much. I can’t put my finger on why. Then I had a friend rave about how good he is, so I tuned in to listen to him on the radio. I don’t know if it was good timing or what, but the talk he was giving was awesome-- insightful, humorous, stern, profound and well, you get the point. It all sort of came together for me. Now I really enjoy him, but still haven’t heard too much of him.

All I can say to the OP is maybe try ignoring the presentation style and listen only to the message. Usually Father Corapi is right on with what we need to be doing with our lives. If you still don’t like him, thats OK. We are all different.

Tonight’s episode was almost a response to the author of this thread. hahaha wow. Providential. 😉

I’ve seen him once or twice on EWTN. I was actually expecting him to be harsher than he was, believe it or not.

I like him, but then he resembles my father somewhat, very straightshooting and not someone who suffers fools or wishy-washiness gladly. Those, by the way, are actually really good characteristics when tempered with a bit of humour and humanity, which neither my Dad nor Fr Corapi are lacking.

But he was just speaking the truth. Better to be aware of the spiritual responsibility of parenthood than to not give it thought to the peril of your children. And he was speaking to a woman who probably didn’t take her responsibility seriously of instilling spiritual direction into the lives of her children and just let them find their own way, which is unfortunately what a lot of parents do in our culture of “tolerance”.

So don’t be unduly paranoid, but just live and teach your faith to the best of your ability and always ask God for help in doing this. This is all that He asks of you. You can’t make their decisions for them, but you guide them well and let the Holy Spirit take over from there. 😉

I missed it tonight, I was on the forum here and lost track of time.

If I can keep my eyes open, maybe I’ll catch the late night version.

You DO realize he WAS an Army NCO, right?

May Our Lord bless you, PauloFreire2, and may the prayers of the Blessed Virgin strengthen you and draw you closer to the Heart of Christ.

Are you aware that Fr. Corapi was also at one time a millionaire who made his fortune in the Los Angelos real estate market, who partied with movie stars and musicians and hotshot politicians? And that he lost everything because of a cocaine addiction and lived on the streets, eating out of dumpsters for some time? And that he experienced a remarkable conversion in his 30s, and eventually went on to be ordained a Catholic priest by Pope John Paul II?

There’s a lot to this man; to better understand his personality and “style” I think you should listen to an audio recording of his conversion story:

Well worded, and thank you! I have not heard him speak of his conversion story.

I have never seen Fr. Corapi (my carrier doesn’t have EWTN), but the feelgood, group-therapy, Carl Rodgers, hippie-dip style of “preaching” is truly a serious problem in the Church. We have a right to the truth and to solid Catholic teaching from the pulpit, and we’re not getting it …

If you would like to see Fr. Corapi in action, I think you’ll find the following links helpful; yep, you can watch EWTN over the Internet!

First rate! Thanks for the links – I will check them out first chance I get.

Use the first link to find out when Fr. Corapi’s programs will be aired on EWTN. Then use the second link to connect to EWTN’s Internet video stream (there are several stream selections on that page, pick the one that best suits your computer and Internet connection).

I watched him last night on the ewtn internet (thanks for links). I think I know what original poster is responding to. Fr. Corapi talked (just a bit) about praying the rosary every day. He mentioned that if he gets to the gates of heaven before you (the hearer), that he may testify/speak against the hearer if they haven’t done it. Also, he says the hearer could speak against him (fr. c) if he fails in this. Something in that image can come across as harsh, I think. I wish I could quote it better, but there is no transcript of the show.

I enjoyed his presentation. I’m just noticing what I think OP is talking about. Also, he looks different from his voice!

I think what some mistake as “harsh” - is, in reality, Father Corapi speaking with “Authority!”
He has the rare gift of “apostolic preaching.” Authority. Truth. Seriousness.

There is a much needed PLACE for this kind of preaching! God knows what he is doing. We would do well to pay attention to it.

On a side note - I can’t help but wonder if this complaint from some that Father Corapi comes across as “harsh” - doesn’t have more to do with WHAT he is saying (that they may be uncomfortable hearing) - than the far less important “delivery” of it.? 😉

“If that style bothers you, you’d propbably be annoyed by 99% of the Saints who have walked this earth and who each lead more souls to salvation than you or I ever will.”

I can see why you like him. You sound exactly like him. Your statement is rude and chuck-full of nonsensical assumptions. YOU did not know '99% of the Saints", unless of course, you’re almost 2,000 years old (you do sound sufficiently cranky. I’ll give you that). AND, you don’t know anything about me, so speak for yourself, thank you. As far as ‘esto vir’, goes – it takes MORE manliness to understand people and try to effectively reach them than barking orders and acting like a drill sergeant. That’s fake bravado, and usually folds when directly confronted in kind.🙂
Whoa
Some get a lot of benefit from Fr. Corapi
Some get a lot of benefit from (fill in the name)
I could say a few things about your obvious feelings toward authority… your reply to posts sounds like you are looking for a fight??? maybe do not respond to a thread if you are not prepared for a response… we are discussing topics and ALL trying to learn

Well, we’re all different. I find him refreshing, informative, and a welcome ‘voice’ for Catholicism. Which doesn’t make me right and you wrong–nor you right and me wrong. 😃

If Fr. Corapi is not for you, don’t watch. But lots of us do enjoy him.
I agree with Tantum ergo, and I’ve really gotten alot out of Fr. Corapis talks, he gives me a new perspective too.
There are quite a few threads on this forum about Father Corapi if you do a search, I think you’ll find he has alot of supporters here.

‘Me thinks’ that if Father Corapi is ‘kind’ in person, he should show that side of himself on TV, instead of acting like a drill sergeant. You DO realize he WAS an Army NCO, right? Perhaps he’s hamming it up a bit for publicity’s sake. Could that be interpretted as falsehood? I wonder.👍
He’s not “hamming it up” He’s filled with the rightous spirit of God and telling it like it is. You must not have the full picture of him, listen to his conversion CD and you’ll hear who he really is. I’ve seen him several times in person and really look up to him for speaking out. God uses our life experience , like being in the Army and being homeless, etc. to his advantage, meaning he uses our life lessons to help us bring the unreachable within reach of Gods Love and Mercy.

HELL is a Harsh place to go &
Fr. Corapi doesn’t want to see anybody go there!
Sin & Hell Do Still Exist!
Imagine that!!!
“And I thought that was only taught before Vatican II &
everybody goes to Heaven now” (lol)

We need more Priests like him who are Not afraid to speak the truth
even if it hurts. No Wishy-Washy Sermons!
He feeds his sheep well!
Quality Steak not Hambuger Helper!

God Bless Father Corapi!!!
