This, like Obama not being born in the USA, has the Clinton machine written all over it

Jim
Actually, it has Trump written all over it. During the primaries, when this kind of thing comes out, it is almost always coming from someone inside the party. My guess is Trump, or even the GOP establishment. They don’t want Carson or Trump as the nominee.

Trump indicated last week that he had plenty of dirt on Carson. This is probably just the beginning.

A friend’s son received an appointment to Annapolis. Believe me when I say that he was fully aware what that entailed before he even began the admittance procedure. And he was fully informed of all the ramifications every step of the way.

Between this, the pyramid debacle, the tax plan that won’t work, and the health care plan he’s already scuttled and replaced with an even more complicated and unworkable one, I have absolutely no doubt Dr. Carson has very little idea of what is involved in the complexities of running for office, let alone governing.
There’s something to what you say. But I think maybe it tells more about candidate quality in general than it does anything else.

Think about it. The public elected a man whose only prior experiences were making poor people angry, and teaching a constitutional law course and not voting when he was elected to vote.

And it might well elect a woman who would have long since been indicted for influence peddling if she were not a Democrat.

So, as between someone who has no meaningful experience in anything other than politics and someone who is manifestly intelligent and did meaningful work that required talent, but didn’t realize politics is a minefield for the unwary, I would take the latter every time. Carson is not my favorite candidate, but I would vote for him in a heartbeat over Clinton. What he thinks about pyramids or how well he understands West Point would not matter nearly as much to me as someone selling out her country to fill her own coffers.

He should be discredited.

Its a lie that was too easy to check and being he didn’t know that, shows a deficiency in his not only in character, but also his ability to grasp the political arena he’s playing in.

Jim
Going up against Hillary who is by nature a serial liar,Carson is a piker. However, maybe the point you were trying to make is Ben Carsen needs to hone his lying skills,to keep pace with Hillary?😉

The Politico story has been debunked already. Just another racist hit job by a pseudo-jounalistic source.

I listened to the news tonight on this.

It turns out, no one in the media made it up, Carson wrote it in his book.

They also pointed out that a representative from West Point said that the academy does not offer scholarships.

You have to apply and go through the process. They either accept you or reject you.

Actually, from my experience, you need some political connection to get in.

In return for your education, you’re required to serve on active duty, for 6 years.

This will probably benefit Rubio, who was 3rd place in the pollls

Jim

But regardless, the proof that Carson made the statement is out there and his staff trying to tap dance around it is not looking good.
Tap dance?

Nah, it looks more like a full-out performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker.

This could be another of those sensational headlines which upon examination turns out to be something quite different from what a readers’ first impression of the headline usually is. A pet peeve of mine … especially if I think the headline choice of deception is not incidental or accidental.

A major national news commentary program was all over this this morning (see below).

I do agree with some of the previous posters that (true or not … or should I say “based on some truths that are misleading in their presentation or not …”) Carson’s candidacy is likely to take a hit.

He may become the Herman Cain of the 2016 GOP nomination process - an intriguing black Republican who skyrockets into a brief lead in the polls, only to stall when the first negative media stories are aired. Even though this “scandal” of Carson’s is more of a tempest in a teapot IMO.

Despicable Politico Lie Spreads Around the World as American
Media Attempts a Political Assassination of Dr. Carson

November 06, 2015

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
**RUSH (Limbaugh): **This whole story from The Politico is based around the flimsiest of things.
Carson never said he went to West Point.
He never said he accepted an offer to go to West Point.
This is media malpractice, what The Politico has done here. The Politico just says, they’re ***taking Carson’s story that West Point was talked up to him.

Basically what he said is
he met with Westmoreland when he was a top ROTC guy (when Carson was) and that
Westmoreland started talking up West Point to him, promoting West Point, and
“among the things, he offered me a four-year scholarship.”
Now, everybody that goes to West Point or to the Naval Academy pays nothing,
because you are making a minimum five-year commitment to them: Four-year undergraduate, two years commissioned service. It’s minimum six years, and can sometimes be more.
But nobody pays. That’s the whole point.

Apparently they are referred to as “full government scholarships.”

Or…

Oh, it will hurt him. No question about it. But when you really look at it, he failed to make a proper distinction in a subject regarding which he probably knew little of the details as to how West Point admission works. But, granted, he should have checked it all out before writing about it.

The slightest defect in telling your story can bite your head off, unless you’re a Clinton.
Indeed.Remember Hillary claiming she was named for Sir Edmund Hillary.

Are we going to blame a man who doesn’t know how military academy appointments work? Is that really what this upcoming race is about? His aides can always help with that if he is elected. In my opinion he still has more integrity than the current office holder…or his opponent (last name also starts with a “C”).

You mean this?:
This is a textbook example of a left-wing media hit.
Looks like The Daily Wire has their own agenda.

Jim

No, actually, that is no where even near the bottom.

I meant the West Point Academy ad where the words “full government scholarship” is used to describe what is offered to prospective enlisters. Meaning that if the Academy uses the word “scholarship,” then it appears that was precisely what was offered to Carson.

So this has to be a LIE, & not a mis-remembrance? As an 18 year old, if someone told you, “we can give you a free-ride to West Point”, would you not assume it was meant as a scholarship? I had no idea that students went there at no cost, & I’m in my 50s.

But no surprise…the MSM sure didn’t investigate the current Prez to this extent.

There may be something out there that sinks Carson, but all that these attacks have sunk so far is many media outlets’s reputations.

I am sure we will soon be hearing apologies for being fooled

I don’t think so. ALL that we will hear is the RETTIP–RETTAP of backtracking little feet. 😉

If the US Army Chief of Staff calls the Commander of West Point and says, I just met this terrific kid, the kid needs to apply only as a formality. Seriously.

First, Ben Carson was a terrific candidate for the school at any time. Second, he would also have helped the racial balance. Third, Carson was applying to colleges during the Viet-Nam era, when entry into the military was lower than usual.

So I see this whole tempest in a teapot as a canard against a truly admirable person.

He put it into his book, plus said it in interviews.

So, its not a case of memory malfunction.
