yes, but those first groups had to start somewhere- If you do well enough, another nation will step in and assist.

The LV massacre, TX church massacre, FL school massacre.

What do all three have in common?

Legally bought assault-style weapons were used by the perpetrators.

I’m all for banning assault-style weapons all out. They have worn out there welcome.

Support gun legislation!
I’m in Canada where the AR-15 is restricted, not banned, and our gun laws are much stricter.

If you look at it rationally, the same damage could be inflicted with any semi-automatic hunting rifle that looks like a modern version of one that Davy Crocket carried (yeah, I know his was a flintlock)

Other nations are typically the US, who have their own reasons for wanting a regime change in those countries.

But in the case of a second civil war, I would very much assume that Russia, China, Iran, and other actors would be more than happy to assist rebels in the US.

I can’t think of any nation that is going to help a rebellion against the US government. Even the Chinese and the Russian’s know that’s a bad idea.

To clear the only actor, if only momentarily, that stands between them and further hegemony? I Think that’s common sense… Russia- drop a Spetznatz team and some weapons to the rebels, and then while the federal government is busy, fully annex Ukraine? I think that’s just smart…

Don’t give these celebrities what they want, attention.

They can talk all they want, we don’t have to listen.

I’m just trying to think how I think an enemy would think… Distraction is a powerful tool.

And then after the rebellion is crushed Russia faces massive economic sanctions from the entire global community and starves.

Not very smart.

Again, the rebellion may or may not work…I wouldnt be so quick to discount the US citizenry.

and the Ukraine thing was just 1 example…

It would be better if more people wanted to address the underlying causes of why kids are looking to mass slaughter their classmates. As we’ve seen in terror incidents, one does not need a gun to take out large groups of people.

But maybe talking about mental health and society’s lack of respect of life doesn’t lend itself to the grandstanding and chest thumping we see after tragedies like this.

If there’s confusion as to the best course of action, which in this case is evinced by the wide variety of thoughts, it is logical for Catholics to turn to the Pope for guidance. I didn’t use the term " shame " , nor the term “sinful” , nor did I accuse all gun owners of being a potential murderer. If, upon imagining what Pope Francis’ reaction would be to an individual’s gun stance, that said individual should feel guilt, that is not my doing.
Gun owners don’t need to feel guilty for the mere act of owning a firearm. You are, in fact, shaming them, and are trying to use Pope Francis to accomplish that. It’s not appreciated.

Unfortunately the usual reaction is hysteria which actually prevents people from sitting down and soberly assessing what needs to be done to protect people from more gun attacks.

This is where both sides of the gun debate need to get together to discuss rationally what needs to be done instead shouting past each other using the unfortunate victims as leverage to advance their own agendas.

machete, chainsaw
Do you honestly believe the number of casualties would have been even close to what it was had he used a machete or chainsaw?

Comparing a machete to an AR-15 is like… Well, have you ever personally used both weapons?

I have personally trained with both knives and assault rifles - I can tell you right now I am a much more deadly force when armed with an M-16 then I am with a machete.
Have you read any of the links I posted earlier? A knife attack in China left 33 dead and over 100 injured.
