Well when Paul had a problem he went to others to get it sorted out, in the end they couldn’t sort it, Peter stood up, and Peter spoke, the whole assembly fell silent, case closed, Paul silent.
Peter had his day. Paul had his day. Case closed. 😃
Appears ? lol very sound reasoning if I may say so Dr Watson.
Its your abbot, not mine.
It has happened in the past, it is happening now, but what would it matter since photographic evidence you don’t believe.
photographs are easily edited. dont believe everything that you see.
You don’t have an answer to the material that is used in Our Lady of Guadalupe.
see previous post.
You don’t have an answer to why there is an image of people standing reflected in the Virgins eyes.
an artist’s idea.
You remind me of the rich man who died asking that a warning be sent to his brothers…
oh I wish I am a rich man! Oh St.Thomas, patron saint of Skeptics, please convince god to have me win the lottery! 😃
You also said you believe in a creator based on what you see around you, but if I didn’t believe in God I wouldn’t think your explanation a very good one.
Hey I agree with you on that. My explanation isnt a very good one. Its really just a matter of faith. Its what I choose to believe. 🙂
Anyway nothing would ever make you believe
How about the virgin mary appearing right in front of me? Jesus showing me his wounds? Jesus appearing in a flash of light and saying “Ron. Ron, why do you persecute me?”. Or a white cross in the sky, while a booming voice from the clouds: “By this sign, post!”.

Actual evidences, dude. Not hear-says and hoaxes.

Exactly, hey thanks for the corrospondence, no use in me trying to raise the dead. 🙂 Adios.

God did speak to you last week-end. Why should he show them to YOU personally? You admit Jesus existed. His followers wrote about Him, but you choose not to believe their writings because they are hearsay. YET, you believe what Plato and Aristotle wrote, they wrote. You even follow their means of logic. Jesus already showed Himself to many people. He is present in the mass and in the Tabernacle.

If you admire St. Thomas Aquinas so much, why don’t you follow him into the Church?

I challenge you to you make a Holy Hour this week-end. Just once. Promise to LISTEN. If you commit to this, I will do it too. (I’ve only done two in my life, and they were 15 years ago).

I need something that I can sense, not just something that I can imagine.
YET, you believe what Plato and Aristotle wrote, they wrote.
That is much easier to believe since there are nothing fantastic about them. Like if a stranger tells you she saw Brad Pitt, would you believe her? Why not! But if a stranger tells you she saw the Virgin Mary riding a Pink Unicorn, would you believe that? I dont think so, not without proof of equal magnitude. Fantastic claims always require fantastic evidences.
Jesus already showed Himself to many people.
There are also many stories of UFO sightings & abductions. People meeting fairies & ghosts. People visiting their past lives. Shiva statues drinking milk and eating food offerings. Mohammad making date fruits dance and splitting the moon. Should we believe all that too? Hear-says are unrealiable.
I challenge you to you make a Holy Hour this week-end.
whats that? 🤷

I would not believe that because it is not in line with CC teaching.

Also because it’s not in line with universally accepted standards.

You never did Adoration in Catholic School? It’s when the Eucharist is Exposed in that Cross with the little glass casing I believe it’s called a Monstrance. You go and sit with Jesus for an hour.

We did a lot of religious stuff in Catholic school but it was more than 15 years ago and the many little catholic terms mostly dont trigger anything in memory anymore.

So why are you challenging me to do that? What do you expect to happen?

A miracle, huh? According to the stories, Paul and Constantine were both out in the roads when they got their miracles. If God is everywhere, he can just me the little miracle I need wherever I am. 🙂

You’re trying to order God around again. You need to spend some time with Him and LISTEN.

Hey I wasnt ordering anybody. Its you who try to boss me around. 😉

And both Paul & Constantine werent listening when they got their divine surprise. 👍

Maybe a miracle.
Funny thing, when I got a little “miracle” during Adoration once, the Catholics I told about it told me not to pay any attention to it, it was probably Satan…and the “message” I received was NOT out of line with Catholic teachings.

I am at a loss if/when/why/what to ever take seriously. Even when one experiences it firsthand, and it is not a big deal, one is told by people in the church to disreguard it, yet when one does NOT experience it firsthand, they are told they should accept it.

I am sharing this story so that you may have a clearer understanding of how mixed up and confusing this can be for “outsiders”

yikes.

hey can you at least share with us what it is you experienced? thanks. 🙂

Agnos, I admire your outstanding faith in skepcticism.
you must need a lot of faith in order to remain arguing in this thread, avoiding to believe in all that we have talked about in the previous posts.

I offered you a challenge and that I would do a Holy Hour too. 🙂
And both Paul & Constantine werent listening when they got their divine surprise. 👍
You know you don’t believe Paul and Constantine got Divine surprises. Do you believe that Paul immediately believed it was the God the father of Jesus who knocked him off his horse? He believed in God, but not in Jesus. He was blinded for three days, which gave him some time to think and listen about what happened. But should you inadvertantly get a Divine surprise, you are telling God how to do it to you. That’s the only way you’ll believe. You might have already gotten a lot of Divine surprises, because you don’t listen.

Again, I challenge you to a Holy Hour. If you go, I’ll do it too. We’ll find one at the same time. Doesn’t have to be this week-end.

there is a forum rule against sharing private revelations. Sorry.
Really, it was meaningful for me at the time, but not a big deal or anything meant for anyone else.

Just a little “hug” when I was suffering a adolescent heartbreak.

As I am also an outsider (I am not yet Catholic, but strongly considering becoming one), even more an outsider, I wouldn’t know.

I would expect, if a hunk of what seems to be bread is really Jesus that miracles would happen a lot around it. More than in other places. And Catholics should know this.

i just have a lot of logic. afterall thats how i make my living. error-control, troubleshooting, programming and making sense of things. i’m in IT. 😃

you are telling God how to do it to you.
I’m just living my life normally. I did not tell God to do anything. Its all up to him. If he doesnt like the way I live or the way I think its up to him if he wants to tell me about it or not. As for me life goes on with or without surprises, with or without religion.

On the contrary going to that ‘Holy Hour’ is like telling God “*Ok God, Im all here and doing this supposed holy stuff. I expect something to happen. Do your work.*.”
