CNN is the only US news channel I see regularly because it comes free as part of my TV package.(I wouldn’t pay good money for it.) Do you remember when the US ambassador was killed in Libya? CNN started what appeared to me to be little more than a witch hunt on the guy who made the offensive video. (The video maker was arrested under the guise of some other offence. Has anyone else ever been arrested, charged or convicted in connection with that assassination?). Their biased and hysterical reporting became so embedded that even when the rest of the world was convinced that the video didn’t prompt the attack it was painful watching them clinging on to their initial conclusion and then trying to back off without losing too much credibility.

From what I watched last night, CNN appeared to be back to their old tricks with “experts” intimating that the Boston bomber is likely to be anyone who doesn’t vote Democrat but tacking on a little hint that it might be Islamic terrorism…making sure they can’t be accused of failing to cover all angles. If we go down that road of in your face bias that fosters prejudice, bigotry and discrimination we are no better than the likes of them. Let’s try not to lie with the dogs, albeit dogs of a different breed.
If you think CNN is bad, you should try watching the other mainstream media outlets… far worse in my opinion.

CNN, reported first George Zimmerman used racial words in a tape and later back tracked, CNN, virtually ignored Dr. Gosnell, the man on trial for killing live babies, 20 seconds so maybe that outpaces ABC, NBC and CBS, yes, unless you are biased, CNN is bad.

I do see Obama changed his terminology to calling Boston a Terrorist Attack for those who were criticizing O’Reilly’s statements yesterday, looks like Bill O’Reilly got it correct.

A couple of British channels show NBC and CBS nightly news. I rarely watch because I fail to see how America’s news can be summed up in about 20 minutes of sound bites. Could there be such a thing as candy floss news? If so, it’s NBC and CBS. My sister gets Fox News which seems to be almost as extreme in the other direction.

I watched the CNN programme about Dr. Gosnell. After the programme, they had someone on to explain why that was their first time to cover the story. He said that they only covered newsworthy stories. Is America so innured to death that medical professionals finishing off live babies with a scissors is not considered newsworthy?

Now, if I were the type to be into conspiracy theories, how’s this for an example…
The Boston bomb serves the purpose of pushing the Gosnell trial down the ranks of what the likes of CNN consider to be newsworthy, and Catholics are to the forefront of the pro-life debate in America. Where will you find Catholics in America if not in Boston (granted they’re most likely to be nominal Catholics, but Catholics nonetheless)? Any pro-abortion, Catholic hating nutcase wanting to keep the Gosnell story buried while taking out Catholics would be well served by placing a few strategic bombs in Boston. I know it’s far-fetched, but so was CNN’s attempt to downplay the murder of a US Ambassador. That’s the trouble with extremism of any shade. There’s no end to it.

Are there any news channels in America that even try to give balanced coverage?

Let’s see, they have not doctored 911 tapes like NBC did with George Zimmerman to make him appear racist, they did not analyze tapes of George Zimmeran and accuse him of using racist language as CNN did and later backtracked on, they covered the Gosnell trial as a norm WHICH NBC, CBS and ABC did not and which CNN only had a short blurb on.

Gee! You already mentioned the news service that can be called “Fair and Balanced” relatively, Fox News.

This is off topic but all news services can be accused of having biases but to report the news in ways to depict someone as racist by doctoring tapes as an example as NBC did is beyond the pail and inexcusable. MSNBC has been shown to be at least 75% opinion.

The BBC in the past has possibly been an unbiased news source in the past, so they say. Not so sure about that.

Now, that’s back up I have provided, nice to see people actually give some backup as to what they say, you provided NO backup for calling some news service extreme and that should be said.

Also from the above article:

So now the right is trying to criticize the President for cutting spending?
While he’s increased spending, but he cuts security?

Federal budget under Obama has gone from 2.8 trillion to 3.63 trillion.

There are certainly other news outlets covering this story, not sure what to make of some of them.
****Official story unraveling for Boston marathon bombing; clear evidence points to bomb squad’s prior knowledge

(NaturalNews) It’s now becoming clear that members of the Boston bomb squad had advance notice of the horrific bombing that took place at the marathon today. As an eyewitness reports, once the bombs went off, officials began announcing, “this is just a drill!” This logically means they were all informed of the “bomb drill” beforehand. Otherwise, why would they respond with, “this is just a drill” ?
According to Local15TV.com, a University of Mobile’s Cross Country Coach said there were bomb-sniffing dogs at both the start and finish lines, long before any explosions went off. He said:

I am not sure why this is news worthy.

He is a policeman.

In Boston.

There was an attack.

And, as a policeman in Boston, he responded. 🤷

Isn’t that what he was hired and trained to do?
The story is making the rounds in the news and it is a minor story, I might not highlight but so many of these threads are on same-sex attraction subjects and I came across this, I thought I would just happen to post it. After all, MIchael Medved, Jewish Conservative Talk Show mentioned this on his show yesterday and I figured, all of us should be informed.

Some Newtown families were in the stands in Boston, this is not a “major” story, but it’s a detail to this as well and as was said by one poster here, the race was dedicated in a heart felt gesture to Newtown or Newtown families/victims, however it is properly said.

I might not find this news worthy either but it was mentioned in the news, I am repeating myself but it has made the rounds. Since we have some posters who speak up for this side, I will say, I thought maybe that might be of interest to some here in case they did not know this.

I’m not for the redefinition of marriage or same sex attraction marriages but I am fair and try to be unbiased. 🤷

AP: Bombs were packed in pressure cookers

The explosives used in the deadly Boston Marathon bombing were contained in 6-liter pressure cookers and hidden in black duffel bags on the ground, a person briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

One of the explosives contained shards of metal and ball bearings, and another contained nails, the person said.

A second person briefed on the investigation confirmed that at least one of the explosives was made out of a pressure cooker. Both spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
A kitchen version of a pipe bomb?
Yes, the principle is the same. Put low explosives in a container which will allow pressure to build, such as a pipe, propane canister, pressure cooker, etc… Since pressure cookers are common in India and Pakistan, pressure cooker bombs are common there, and it is not very suspicious to see one discarded. In the US, they are used less, and security personnel are advised to treat any stray pressure cooker carefully. Apparently, that did not happen in this case.

The explosive is easily obtained from any supermarket for a small device. Probably from fireworks for something as large as a pressure cooker. The detonator is typically a light bulb with a 9 volt battery as a source. These things are extremely easy, cheap and quick to make. Let’s hope and pray that this is not a start of a new trend in the US.

I’m not like CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS and censor the news. I think all details can be mentioned.

BroomWagon:
I have seen Inspire magazine. It is incredibly well made, in terms of production values. Frighteningly so, as a piece of propaganda. Typically 50-100 pages of “inspirational” quotes and advice. And then there are the “how to” articles on guerrilla warfare. I don’t think it has been produced for some years now.

Epan: Could dogs sniff out a pressure cooker bomb?
Yes, they should be able to. I am guessing that these bombs were placed from the crowd, after the ordinance team had cleared the areas. I don’t want to say what the ingredients from a market or hardware store would be, but a trained dog should be able to find them easily.

Particularly at a public event, or in a public place like an airport, etc… If you spot an unattended package, paper bag, duffel bag, backpack… anything like that. Point it out to a policeman. I actually had the experience of going through Heathrow some years back, and I saw the classic package sitting by itself on the floor in a busy area. Brown paper parcel. It even had oil stains on it. I pointed it out to a bobby, who was standing nearby. He had not noticed it. Everyone should keep their eyes open, particularly in a crowded place. There is no point in detonating one of these devices in an empty field, and they are not powerful enough to do much property damage. They are designed to be set off in crowds to injure and kill people.

What do they use as an explosive?

Sounds like he said he didn’t want to say and I would think I would agree with that view though it might be pertinent, I’m sure one could find the information on the internet and they may well be discussing that on TV, I’ve heard a bit about it, kind of scary, these bombs could be built this way and one wants to be wary of copycats.

Look, the US hasn’t taken security seriously under either the Bush or Obama administrations. If we had, we’d be securing the border. We have intercepted Hezbollah, Hamas and Al Queada operatives crossing. Who knows how many we’ve missed. I live a couple of blocks from a Border Patrol Sector office and talk to the line agents actually out intercepting those attempting illegal entry. Their worry is the OTM non-economic folks and what their motives are, they know they miss most of them. Those folks pay far more to be smuggled into the US.

So, really, the amount funding domesting bombing prevention is almost irrelevent given our inability to stop entry, or refusal to sweep within the US to reduce the community of 11-20 million that terrorists can merge into. Both parties have been willing accomplices to the situation-- and look like they’re going to cooperate in making things worse.

So Obama, Bush, Dem or Repub-- same- same on this.

What is “OTM” in this context. Obviously not a hollow point bullet, or octadecyltrimethoxysilane.
