But how do you know you know, you know? I can tell you there is a huge pull for me to go back to my former self.
Hello again historyb.

You are going to go back to your “former self”, from time to time, welcome to the human condition. It is a constant battle but always keep in mind that the only path to true happiness is goodness and virtue.

If you want to approach this question from a more logical standpoint, you can start by reading Saint Thomas Aquinas’ - “A Shorter Summa” or “Summa Theologica”, also Thomas à Kempis’ “Imitation of Christ” and Saint John of the Cross’, “Dark Night of the Soul”.

…if you haven’t already.

I hope this helps 🙂

God bless you!

But how if you don’t know? What if your not sure, because even though I’m back I am and I’m trying to believe that and even saying it, I’m still not sure
Get as involved as you possibly can in your faith. Participate in the Sacraments, Eucharist and Reconciliation routinely. Adoration! Spend as much time with the Lord in Adoration as you do during mass. He will speak to your heart and help erase all doubt.

Develop a good, routine prayer life. All of this is a struggle, but so is life! Immerse yourself in that which is good. This world already immerses you in the bad. Any wonder you have doubts?

May Christ’s peace e always with you.

Thank you both, I am better now. Dark afternoon of the soul is what I had.

It is pure un-Biblical unsupported by logic garbage. Those are my thoughts. Sorry.
Hello SIA,

What is it that you are claiming to be “unsupported”? Is there a specific “Error” that you are protesting?

My first post here includes a link to where this document, “EXSURGE DOMINE” can be found. Are you denying that this event ever occurred?

I’m sorry but I don’t understand your comment here, could you please clarify.

Thank You. 🙂

Hello gurneyhalleck,

Well, at least I don’t have to worry about being torched or hanged, because I’m not a Catholic dessenter.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, and I love God with all of my mind, heart, soul and strength.

I fully and completely surrender to Jesus Christ and to His Roman Catholic Church.

I fully submit to the magisterium and recognize the Supremacy of Roman Pope.

I love honor and venerat the Holy Mother of God and my mother too.

I pray and completly accept all that which is in the Bible and the Creed.

I embrace my Christian history and Christian traditions.

I know with every ounce of my being that the Roman Catholic Church is God’s, one true Church. I Thank God that my mother had me babtized, when I was a few days old, into the Church that I truly love, appreciciate and completely agree with.

People here defend aspects of there faith but do they completly surreder to their Faith?

God Bless you!
That’s quite a litany! Wow! So what you’re saying is that you’re ok and won’t be hanged or burned at the stake because you’re a Catholic? That sounds as if you’re ok with the thought of those dissenters in ages passed being executed for their different interpretations? Or maybe you’re just being funny. Hard to tell with email and forums sometimes. I’m a sarcastic son of a gun so it’s hard to tell my tone sometimes.

The point of my post was this: it is because of the Protestant Reformation that we have modern democracies, the idea of individual Christian freedom, the Englightenment, the sciences, arts and constitution of the U.S. The history of America is steeped in gratitude to protestantism, not Catholic autocratic papal rule in league with monarchies and court intrigue. I’m Catholic. I’m also intellectually honest. The Catholic Church historically flourished and thrived as well as strongly supported limited rights for the individual and for democracies. It’s just a fact.

Yes and the Catholic CHurch was also the one with the educated monks and scholars that preserved our history (including sacred scripture) and safeguarded it down through the years where people would have liked to abolished the Church and God.

Hello gurneyhalleck1,

Interesting point, so let me ask you this; Do you believe that people in general, are more morally and ethically correct today, or 500-1000 years ago? How about 50 years ago? Where has God gone? Why are there so many today who are against Him? Should we be able to “vote” God away?

These questions, are of a general nature but feel free to respond.

Thank you for your post.

Peace.

Hello reen12,

I have been to this site and I have read much of the material presented there… over the years.

Regarding Luther’s Excommunication…My response is - "Good Call!

Luther was, in my opinion, a rude, disrespectful, sarcastic, name-calling, confused, trouble making -egomaniac, who misinterpreted the Bible and wasn’t even consistent in doing that, because his positions changed so often.

In his his letters, he refers to Catholic Popes and other people as being “satanic”, calling them “donkeys” and “fools” and so on.

In Luther’s letters regarding so-called “reform”, he appears to be obsessed and blinded by his hatred of Catholic Popes and others and more concerned about himself and matters affecting the German Government and the German Royal family, then he was with the rest of the Christian (Catholic at the time) world.

He seems to have put himself and Germany before all other Christians (Catholics) of the time.

As you may be able to tell, I am no big fan of Martin Luther.

The more I read about him, the less I like him. He was a man who appears to have had lot of hatred in his heart.

Maybe, he missed the part in the Lord’s Prayer, where it is written, “And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”.

Thank you for your post.

Peace 🙂

Jimmy, you say that you love your fellow Christians that don’t follow your ways, yet the overwhelming majority of your posts are spent bad-mouthing their beliefs. Regardless of whether you agree with us or not, why say you love us and then say nothing but bad things? That seems slightly hypocritical.
JimmyB has a jaundiced view of Protestants, his questions are demeaning, his views are very narrowminded. Very few of his fellow Catholics call him on it. I started a thread similar to this but on one of Luthers 95 thesis but that thread was moved to a much less traveled forum. This is a Catholic website however this is a nonCatholic forum, to allow this individual to carry on without reproach is certainly appalling. Protestants are treated better on Islamic forums. It is interesting to note that originally the Copts found better treatment form the muslims than from the Roman Catholics.

And the Protestant Reformation happened as a result of corruption and abuse of authority in the hierarchy during that time period.

So ultimately, it’s that corruption and abuse of authority that we have to grateful to!

🙂

And they mastered that form of corruption and abuse of authority at the feet of the Roman and Greek Empires…So really, we should be thanking the Romans and the Greeks 😃

Never mind the corruption within the Church, what really matters is what Jesus said: You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against.

the corruption in the Church has been greatly exagerated by protestants who desesperately needed to justify their actions.

which one of you can point out to me any of the protesters of the reformation who had a holy life? if you are truly honest you will find their history to be nothing but hate and confusion between them and it remains to this day.

ML broke the commandment of God that says love one other. when we love we do no harm to the other. ML did the opposite. he not only sought to harm but to destroy the Church so he could build his own. i can hardly say he was a holy man worthy of leading people to the Truth.

the devil will attack the Church and will use some, this he will do to keep many away from the Church Jesus found. that is his busisness to keep people from salvation.

Jesus mission on earth was to teach and prepare for His Church. one of many was when the woman was brought to Him, and the people wanted to stone her to death, but Jesus said: throw the first stone those without sin.

So ML has no right or was given the right to judge and condemn the CC. it was not his Church. this Church belongs to Christ. this Church is meant to teach and offer refuge to those who are called by God to commune with Him. some may fall but only God is the Judge.

It is written, many times the Hebrew people fell into temptation even to the point of worshipping other gods. but the Lord never broke His Covenant with His people. His New Covenant with His Church will never be broken. those who are dissobedient will be punished but in no way Our God would brake His Covenant with His Churchl.

Romans 13:1-2, **
“Let everyone be subject to the higher authorities, for there exists no authority except from GOD, AND THOSE WHO EXIST HAVE BEEN APPOINTED BY GOD (6). Therefore, he who resists the AUTHORITY resists the ordinance of GOD; and THEY THAT RESIST BRING ON THEMSELVES CONDEMNATION.” **

Hey, don’t make me call in my Catholic Police on you! :tsktsk:

Ah so now I’m finally getting the real story: Martin Luther wanted to destroy Christ’s Church.

Somehow I got it into my head that he was just misguided.
