President Trump is not short mentally like Mr. Biden is. Good grief, just go look at some of Biden’s video’s. This is a clear case of elder abuse by his family. Notice how his wife steps in time and time again to answer for Old Joe.
This is probably a whole separate thread, but…really? Are we sure about this? He’s really ill?

My mother-in-law has Alzheimers, and it’s really really sad. We’re at a point where jokes about Alzheimer’s don’t seem funny at all, although we realize that keeping a sense of humor helps us to deal with the sadness of watching her lose all that wonderful intellect that put her 1st in her graduating class and helped her to hold down a job in computer technology for 30 years while raising a family.

Has VP Biden actually been diagnosed with any kind of mentally-incapacitating syndrome like Alzheimer’s or Parkinsons?

Of course, I realize that if he does have a diagnosed condition, at this point, it is probably being kept secret from the public, and the plan is to have Sen. Harris take over the Presidency shortly into the Presidency after the condition is announced to the public. I fear this, and I think it will bring about disaster for the U.S. and cause many who voted for Joseph Biden to regret their vote.

But isn’t it more likely that Pres. Biden is just kind of goofy and that he often gets his words tangled up? That he’s a poor public speaker (common condition!).

My work supervisor has been doing this for years–turning her words around and coming up with goofy phrases. It’s really kinda funny, and she laughs at herself all the time. But we all know she is as smart as most of the doctors in our hospital and makes good decisions regarding our Microbiology dept.

ALL of us do this from time to time, and usually in a public setting where we are really trying hard to look intelligent! We bumble through a toast, or a greeting, or a presentation, and we kick ourselves afterwards for being such bad speakers.

Fear of public speaking is the Number One Fear of most Americans, and many Americans refuse to get involved with local clubs, events, organizations, etc. because they are not willing to speak up in public. (BTW, I do not have this problem. I have the opposite problem–diarrhea of the mouth, which is what I believe that Pres. Trump has!)

And yes, VP Biden is elderly, and yes, his memory has many decades of stuff in it, and occasionally the memory has to search through the brain files to find that name, place, date, etc. As people get older, that just happens, but it doesn’t mean a pathology or “condition.”

So…is his bumbling way of speaking due to a diagnosed condition, or just part of his personality?

They are organized. Protests everywhere have some organization and if violence and vandalism breaks out, yes, there are culpable groups.
That’s right. First start with the black uniform and masks (pre-Covid ) they all wear, then look and see how they operate just like a military units. They have Scouts who see where the police are and then report back by radio. They are anti-capitalists and they hate everything America stands for. The word to describe them is “anarchists”.

When group A shows up to confront group B, that in no way gives group A a moral edge over group B.
I said nothing about morality, I was just stating the facts about how some people will react. If there had been no ANTIFA there would have been no Proud Boys.

However in quantifying the danger posed by this group, the DHS still sees white supremacy as a bigger threat.
Where is all this “white supremacism”.?
I trust that DHS knows what they are talking about.
Is anyone saying that any non-white person should be denied the rights available to all American citizens?
It is not fashionable to say it publicly anymore. That does not mean it doesn’t happen.
The only thing I am seeing is BLM supporters bothering people with bullhorns…
There’s no accounting for what “you are seeing.”
This is a fake claim, just like somehow the whole system we live under is racist.
It is also a straw man claim.

That is factually false. You need to review this interactive map again and see how many Proud Boys events were not in response to an Antifa event.

I have heard that the appearance of searching for words, delays between words, quick corrections, and similar actions is actually a byproduct of overcoming or compensating for his stuttering issues. How true that is I am not qualified to answer, but if it is true, it puts an entirely different face on his speaking mannerisms.

But if someone wanted a Proud Boys and there were no Antifa (or an Antifa that was not an actual organized group) one could be invented. Wouldn’t be the first time in history that a boogeyman was invented to justify what someone wanted to do in the first place.

The video I mentioned in post 123. See at time 1:10:42
Thanks, @Naga!

So, here’s my take on it: the caller framed up the question in a pure one-or-the-other context, and Tim responded to it as such.

Personally, I think his endorsement to “not vote for anyone in that race” is off-base. In fact, it seems to me that it runs counter to the recommendations that the USCCB makes in its “Faithful Citizenship”.

So, I think there’s room to ask him, in the context of a call, to discuss the option of voting third-party. (And, of course, to be ready to respond intelligently to the response “that would be throwing away my vote”.)

Perhaps you should call in sometime and ask him. It would be interesting to hear what he has to say.

Is there an example of this happening in American history? I don’t think there is, unless you go way back and describe the demise and replacement of the Whig Party. These times were so different though–the communication was very slow between the states, and there was the ever-approaching inevitability of the Civil War, as the issues of slavery and states’ rights were huge.
Modern voting is a lot different than voting back then, particularly because the president is now no longer elected by electors, but by the citizens themselves. Still, the popularity of parties like the Free Soil party allowed for the creation of the Republican party, and the end of Democrat hegemony.

As a psychologist, I can confirm that Biden’s manner of speech and communicating is consistent with typical stuttering compensations. If one were to put all politics aside (ha!) the manner in which Biden has adapted to his disability is quite impressive and admirable.

A bill supports abortion, but is more restrictive than current law. Given that the bill supports abortion, to that extent it is immoral, so how can a conscientious politician vote for it?
If it reduces abortion it sounds like it should be assessed as a good.
What we are choosing is to do as little harm as possible. That’s the choice before us, and we are obliged to take it.
We are doing no harm at all - the net effect is a good.
