Jesus redemptive work on the cross did not take away “all” punishment. The redemptive work of Jesus saved us from eternal punishment. Temporal punishments for sin can remain. Scripture makes this quite clear in the following passages:I will keep posting them as long as you deny that accepting our punishment was part of the redemption. There are other parts as well but this is one part. God promised death for sin and God does not lie. Death there had to be.

Hebrews 12:4-6
In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation which addresses you as sons?-- “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor lose courage when you are **punished **by him. For the Lord disciplines him whom he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
Romans 12:16-19
Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; never be conceited. Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Hebrews 10:29-30
How much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the man who has spurned the Son of God, and profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
