No, I was just stating that to some Saudi women, as shocking as it sounds, they actually like the system. Although interestingly the campaign about loving your guardian was launched by a Saudi Princess.

It’s not being an apologist, it’s a fact. In the same way, when women were campaigning for the right to vote in the UK and US there were women who were campaigning the opposite - to not have a vote.

That does not appear to be the case in practice.

For instance, the Islamic Republic of Iran (a Muslim theocracy) fought as brutally and ruthlessly as they could during the Iran/Iraq war of the 1980s (source: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/4260420.stm).

And some Blacks fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War (a few even owned slaves themselves).

Who cares?
What does it prove?

That even victimized groups can have members that are comfortable with or even profit off of the system that oppresses their people?
I already knew that.

That is interesting;)
Considering the fact that Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy the fact that a member of the royal family started this movement (which supports the status quo) seems to imply that it is not a grassroots movement at all.

Can you cite reliable un-islamic as well as islamic sources regarding the “strict rules on warfare” and that “peace is generally the preferred option in all cases”.

I don’t have a Qur’an to hand, or indeed any of my notes from my Islamic studies course, so I can provide sources, but not now.

I’m glad you added the ‘as it is practiced’ part, because that is truly the problem: culture. In India, which is majority Hindu, with significant Muslim and Christian minorities, practices like bride-burning, honor killings and polygamy are seen in all communities to different extents. People tend to behave in ways that are traditional, sometime regardless of religious faith other times using their faith to excuse their practices.
