What people mean when they say that Fatima is more than private revelation is not that it’s public revelation - that’s impossible - but that it’s more than private revelation in the sense that the demands of Our Lady apply to the whole human race - unlike an event in a saint’s life where Mary or Jesus appears to that specific person and tells him something specific to them only; like when the Cure of Ars conversed with Our Lady about things particular to him and his parish.

The miracle of the sun was the greatest miracle ever witnessed since biblical times and this fact alone puts it on the scale of being probably the most important private revelation we’ve experienced yet.

As far as the secrets and consecration go; as Catholics you can believe we didn’t get everything or not believe it - it’s not part of the deposit of faith so you can hold your own oppinion.

I’m in there with Mother Angelica as well that we didn’t get the whole thing. Nothing in the official release has anything to do with the line “in Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved etc” and the prior two secrets don’t deal with this either. Then we have the famous Italian journalist, Socci, who did a complete 180 on this topic after looking into the matter as well as Cardinal Capovilla admitting that there are two distinct texts of the third secret of which only one was revealed in the “official” account. Our Lady clearly desribed the vision of hell to the seers - are we to believe that she didn’t explain the 3rd secret vision?

Why people attach such great importance to Fatima is that in each age God raises up Saints to inspire us to the ways of God - to put us back on track just like the prophets of old. Our Lady came as the loving Mother that She is and told us far more than what is often regarded as the message of Fatima; of simply praying the rosary and hanging up a picture of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She told us about how war is a punishment from God, that fashions will be introduced that will displease God very much, to stay on guard against impurity, the value of suffering and penance in converting sinners, that hell is real and people go there in great numbers and that devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is key to our day and age as well as the necessity of the daily rosary and wearing of the brown scapular.

We have a great and loving Mother and Her message is quite profound and very relevant to our day. Ave Maria!

In my opinion, the 3rd Secret still hasn’t been published, and a proper consecration
hasn’t been accomplished yet, either. Pope JPII published a small part
of the Third Secret in his homily in Fatima on May 13, 2000 when he quoted the
book of Apocalypse (Apoc. 12:3-4) and said the “message of Fatima” was
a “warning” to “have nothing to do with the tail of the dragon whose
tail swept a third of the stars from heaven.” This chapter and verse
has been interpreted in Catholic commentaries to be referring to 1/3
of Catholic clergy coming under satanic influence during the
Apocalypse. This corresponds well with the approved message of Akita.
Of course there’s nothing about this in the official 2000 release cooked up
by Sodano-Bertone-Ratzinger, where Cardinal Ratzinger even explicitly denies that it
contains any such content about the Apocalypse despite the fact that his Pope
explicitly stated that it did.

So what did the highest authority in the Church, Pope JPII say in 2000 about the
message of Fatima? He said it was a “warning” about the Apocalypse. Last I knew,
this homily was still available somewhere on the Vatican website.

Cardinal Secretary of State Sodano got in front of a crowd on the same
day in 2000 and stated that the Pope had decided to release the Third Secret,
only Sodano said it was about something completely different than what
Pope JPII himself had said the very same day, a possible act of defiance.
Cardinal Sodano announced that the Third Secret was all about the failed
assassination attempt on Pope JPII, and that they needed some time to draft an
appropriate commentary.

In a November, 1984 interview with Jesus Magazine, Cardinal
Ratzinger stated that he had read the text of the Third Secret and
that it dealt with the “importance of the end times” and the “dangers
threatening the faith and lives of Christians.” Realize that this was
already three years after the failed assassination attempt, and
Cardinal Ratzinger didn’t say anything about it. Then in 2000, he
completely contradicted himself by stating in the official commentary
that the Third Secret didn’t deal with end times prophecies and was
primarily about the failed assassination on the Pope.

Then, as just one of many examples, we have Cardinal Ciappi, Pope
JPII’s personal theologian, who read the Third Secret and stated the
following: “In the Third Secret, it is foretold, among other things,
that the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top.”
This is another reference to the end times. The great apostasy is an event
that precedes the advent of antichrist.

And again, for example, Sr. Lucia told Frère Michel in an interview
that the Third Secret can be found in the Apocalypse and Gospels, and
specifically to read Apocalypse Chapters 8 through 13. Remember from above
that on May 13, 2000, Pope JPII quoted Apocalypse 12:3-4.

The above are just a few examples.

People who want to know more might want to read the following book by
Father Paul Kramer: devilsfinalbattle.com/content2.htm

The Vatican also lied about the second assassination attempt on JPII that
occurred in Fatima. A Spanish priest lunged at him with a knife and drew blood.
An official press release from the Vatican originally denied this. One of Pope JPII’s
secretaries just recently released the full details.

In my opinion, Cardinal Bertone’s book is full of vast lies and misrepresentations.

Hmmm, your opinion or the word of the Church, the pope, and the visionary Sr Lucia?

I think I will go with the latter.

So, according to you, our current Pope Benedict XVI is a liar and deceiver. Why do I just feel that I can’t accept this?

Could I just recommed the film ‘Miracle of Fatima’ made in the early 50’s. It is not a strictly factual account of the surrounding events but is accurate in the essentials. I was not aware of the recent film made about Fatima but will definitely take a look at it. When I was in Catholic school aged 6 in the early 50’s in the UK, the cinema next to our school gave us a special showing of the ‘Miracle of Fatima’ and I never forgot it. I was six but had been told all about hell in school (just like Jacinta) - I suppose a teacher would be banned for telling 6 year olds these days!
When I started to doubt/ignore the Church in my late teens, I read a booklet about Fatima and the doubts went away - I’ve never stopped believing since. I was also present in our local Cathedral in 1984 when the local bishop joined in the consecration ordered by the Pope (just a year before the Communist bloc started to disintegrate!) which Lucia declared to be “sufficient” and which clearly was.
Curiously Fatima seems to be connected with the apparitions centuries earlier of Our Lady of Good Success in the Americas which related to the appalling spiritual situation in the 19th and 20th centuries (no mention is made of the 21st so perhaps things are about to change!)

I would be very careful about calling people liars, especially when the person is the Pope. I also have reservations about Russia and the third secret, but prudence is called for when addressing these issues.

The miracle of the sun was the greatest miracle ever witnessed since biblical times and this fact alone puts it on the scale of being probably the most important private revelation we’ve experienced yet.
I have said this before and some people did not like it but I am going to say it again.

While many people did witness the Miracle of the Sun, I did not and can not really use that as an event to make me believe or not believe in Fatima (notice I have not said if I believe or do not believe, for me this is a private matter and no one’s business) for if I do then why should I not take the word of the hundreds of witnesses to UFOs over Phoenix, AZ?
As far as the secrets and consecration go; as Catholics you can believe we didn’t get everything or not believe it - it’s not part of the deposit of faith so you can hold your own oppinion.
I am sorry but I can not agree with this. To have an opinion that says that the consecration did not occur and/or that the third secret has not been revealed is to say that Pope John Paul II, Sr Lucia, and other Church officials (the current pope included) were lying to us when they said that the consecration occurred and that the full third secret has been revealed.

Following your same logic you would have no reason to believe in the miracles of Christ either. Comparing a miracle attributed to the intercession of Mary to believing in UFO sightings is asinine - especially when the Church has declared Fatima to be worthy of belief.

You should read a few books on the topic because the evidence is overwhelming to the point that even the famous Italian journalist, Antonio Socci (a personal friend of Cardinal Bertone) who once snubbed his nose at “Fatimists” BUT when presented with all the inconsistencies and looked into the matter determined that we didn’t get the whole thing and did a complete about-face.

Do you think Mother Angelica was wrong in saying she didn’t believe we got the whole secret either? Was she being disloyal? It’s not a matter of the Pope or anyone lying - it’s called mental reservation. If the Vatican think the words of Our Lady concerning the third secret were actually a figment of Sr. Lucia’s imagination and consider them to be non-authentic then they could quite truthfully say that the “entire” or “authentic” third secret has been revealed - “authentic text” being the exact term that Cardinal Bertone and Cardinal Sodano have used over and over again in describing what was revealed to the public.

Then there is the issue of the two different texts which was stated by Cardinal Capovilla. When Cardinal Bertone says they released EVERYTHING that was “in the Vatican Archives” they can honestly say this with a straight face and tell everyone that “everything” was released and they would be honest in doing so - mental reservation once again. But as stated there is overwhelming evidence that two different texts exist; one in the Vatican Archives (the vision) - the other in the papal apartment (the words of the Virgin which they may think are not authentic - the figment of Sr. Lucia’s imagination). The only one that was released was the vision - which is kept in the archives.

I don’t care to re-write the book here online- you can pick one up yourself. The Devil’s Final Battle can be read for free online or Chris Ferarra’s book is pretty good as well and is based upon a lot of up-to-date info from Antonio Socci’s book which is not available in english.

If you think it’s wrong to question whether or not the consecration took place or if we got the whole truth of the 3rd secret then why did Pope Benedict XVI send a personal THANK YOU note to Antonio Socci for his work on the book, “The 4th Secret of Fatima”? You’re misplacing your sense of loyalty.

As a side note: It’s interesting to note that the issue of the third secret has been handed over to the Vatican Secretary of State (then Cardinal Sodana - now Cardinal Bertone) and not the CDF, indicating that it has political ramifications and an issue for Vatican national security which would also indicate why Pope John Paul II never mentioned the word RUSSIA in any of his consecrations. Which is another topic altogether: Don’t you have to mention the very thing [Russia] you want to consecrate? Kind of like a Bishop consecrating a chalice and instead consecrating all metals of the world without ever mentioning the chalice in front of him.

“Pray the daily Rosary for peace.” Free Rosary CD’s available at catholicity.com/ The five First Saturdays of reparation for the affronts against the Immaculate Heart of Mary are available to all: go to confession within the octave of First Saturday; receive Holy Communion in the state of grace; and spend 15 minutes meditating on the life of Christ, usually done in the context of the Rosary. Our Lady of the Rosary appeared at Fatima in fulfilling John’s Apocalypse 12 prophecy of the great sign appearing in the heavens; the woman clothed with the sun…

The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart by Peter in union with all bishops takes an act of faith–faith without works is dead. The consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart, not the consecration of the world to Christ as done in 1983 and 1984 at Fatima by Peter alone, is given as the “only” means to a period of peace. The Virgin Mary’s obedience to Peter as wielding the power and authority of Christ Himself affirms Petrine Succession. Her conversion of Russia, not unprecedented after her conversion of eight million Aztecs, would include five million Russian Muslims well prepared to bring peace to the Middle East.

Russia, given as the “instrument of God’s chastisement” is still spreading her errors leading to the “annihilation” of nations. Millions of deaths under Russian propagation of Communism have occurred since Our Lady of the Rosary’s 1929 return to request the timely consecration of Sister Lucia. The Holocaust would have been avoided. The Russian arms now pouring into the Middle East would have been replaced by converted Russian Muslim missionaries. That is the terrible power and authority the Church wields. May we be worthy of God’s trust. Pray for the soon-coming consecration of Russia and her conversion for love of the Immaculate Heart that Russia may spread the Way, Truth and Life instead of satanic lies and murder. “Pray the daily Rosary for peace.”

No need to get profane.

You may believe as you wish, I have been told that I should believe in Fatima solely because of the Miracle of the Sun. There are other reasons to believe inteh miracles of Christ besides my being told that they happened.

Miracles are not the only reason to believe in something.
No need for me to read books. You seem to assume that I do not believe in Fatima, I have not said this. I have not said where my beliefs are on this matter, as I said, it is a private matter that I chose not to reveal here.

I chose to believe Pope John Paul II, Sr Lucia, and the other Church officials (the current pope is one of them) who says that we do have the whole Third Secret. I chose to believe them because they have seen it and those claiming we do not have it have not seen it. I think Mother Angelica, if she did say that, is wrong.

Any ways, it does not matter if we have it or not as it is a matter of private revelation and has no bearing on our salvation.

Yes, Fatima (and many other apparitions) has been deemed “worthy of belief” but not required. A faithful Catholic may believe that nothing supernatural has occurred at Fatima or any of the other approved apparitions and still be a faithful Catholic.

I was also present in our local Cathedral in 1984 when the local bishop joined in the consecration ordered by the Pope (just a year before the Communist bloc started to disintegrate!) which Lucia declared to be “sufficient” and which clearly was.
Oh, yeah?

(From “The Devil’s Final Battle”, by Fr. Paul Kramer):

September 1985 - In an interview in Sol de Fatima magazine (a publication of friends of the Spanish Blue Army), Sister Lucy affirms that the Consecration of Russia still has not been done because, yet again, Russia was not the clear object of the 1984 consecration and the world’s episcopate did not participate.

1985 - Cardinal Gagnon, in an interview with Father Caillon, acknowledges the Consecration of Russia has still not been done.

1986 - Maria do Fetal publicly quotes Sister Lucy (her cousin) as saying that the Consecration of Russia still has not been done. Maria do Fetal will consistently maintain that Sister Lucy told her this until July 1989

July 20, 1987 - Interviewed quickly outside her convent while voting, Sister Lucy confirms to journalist Enrico Romero that the Consecration of Russia has not been done.

October 25, 1987 - In an audience with a dozen Catholic leaders, Cardinal Mayer publicly acknowledges that the Consecration has not been done according to Our Lady’s specific request.

November 26, 1987 - In a private meeting, Cardinal Stickler confirms that the Consecration has not been done because the Pope lacks the support of the bishops. “They do not obey him,” says Cardinal Stickler.

1988 - Cardinal Gagnon attacks Father Gruner for publishing the Caillon report of his 1985 statement that the Consecration has not yet been done. Cardinal Gagnon admits speaking to Father Caillon, and does not deny the truth of his report, but says it was not meant for publication.

1989 - More than 350 Roman Catholic bishops respond to a letter from Father Gruner, confirming their willingness to consecrate Russia with the Pope as requested by Our Lady at Fatima.

July 1989 - In the presence of three witnesses at the Hotel Solar da Marta in Fatima, Father Messias Coelho reveals that Sister Lucy has just received an anonymous “instruction” from unidentified persons in the Vatican bureaucracy. The “instruction” states that Sister Lucy and her fellow religious must now say that the Consecration of Russia was accomplished in the ceremony of March 25, 1984, even though Russia was never mentioned and the world’s bishops did not participate.
After this development, various witnesses — including, it is claimed, Sister Lucy herself — begin to repudiate their own prior statements that the Consecration has not been done. These witnesses previously clearly stated that Russia could not possibly have been consecrated as requested in the Fatima Message because of the failure to mention Russia and the failure to obtain the participation of the world's bishops. Thus begins a process of “revising” Our Lady's request from the Consecration of Russia to the Consecration of the world. At the same time, powerful forces from within the Vatican apparatus begin to target Father Gruner and his apostolate for suppression.

No need for me to read books.
Oh, I see.
You seem to assume that I do not believe in Fatima, I have not said this. I have not said where my beliefs are on this matter, as I said, it is a private matter that I chose not to reveal here.

I choose to believe Pope John Paul II, Sr. Lucia and other Church officials who stated quite clearly that the Third Secret pertains to the Apocalypse.

The truth is too simple for some people. So they create conspiracy theories to add complexity and spice.

There are and have been, questions that have not been sufficently answered for many Catholics. That is not conspiracy, it is simply looking at the times we currently live in and questioning whether or our situation has changed since 1917.
Since the end of the cold war nuclear weapons have multiplied all over the world. We now have unstable dictators who seem to have no problem threatening dropping the bomb. This generation has never known the kind of war our parents and grandparents endured. I don’t mean ‘brush wars’, I mean TOTAL war, cities being destoryed and thousands of lives snuffed out. Sixty some years is a long time. Nowadays its not uncommon to hear “lets just nuke them!!” We have movies with great CGI effects showing cities being destroyed and the average 20 year old, all wide-eyed says “cool!!”
Really? Cool? Human beings being wiped out, whole cities being anniliated is entertaining? Of course, they never experienced what a total war can do, so they have no idea. That is scary.
Our Lady said war is a punishment for sin. The situation is probably more dangerous now in the world than ever before.
I’m not going to get into a discussion of who is and who is not telling the truth about the Consecration and the third secret.
But I am looking at the world situation…and it makes me wonder.
And pray the Rosary.

The original comments from Sister Lucia regarding the 3rd secret, hardly seem like they could apply to an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate a Pope. I tend to agree with those who believe the 3rd secret was about widespread apostasy in the church, along with modern societies becoming the most wickedly sinful in the history of the world. I think the “good news for some” applies to the faithful remnant.

Even secular news sources were skeptical of linking the attempt to assassinate JP2 with the third secret, as I am.
But I am leery of this ‘faithful remnant’ theory. It sounds too fundamentalist.

Actually, more and more is beginning to leak out.\

Before the Vatican published the Vision of the Third Secret, there had been reports that the secret contained two parts: One dealt with the Pope and the other part dealt with the apostasy.

In 1952 Fr. Joseph Schweigl, S.J., was sent by Pope Pius XII to speak with Sister Lucy regarding the Third Secret. This is what he said publicly upon his return:

“I cannot reveal anything of what I learned at Fatima concerning the third secret, but I can say that it has two parts: one concerns the Pope. The other, logically–although I must say nothing–would have to be the continuation of the words: In Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved.”

Most of the quotes that dealt with the Third Secret, prior to the release of the vision in 2000 dealt with the apostacy. The famous quote from Cardinal Ratzinger from 1984, for example, mentioned the crisis of faith and nothing about a Pope being killed. Most of the other quotes from those who read the secret also mentioned the apostasy.

What is beginning to leak out is what is contained in the not-yet-release portion, which begins with “In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved…”.

What does this not-yet-released part of the Secret say? Here’s a quote from a recent interview.

“…Question: Do you see a connection between the Third Secret of Fatima and the introduction of the New Mass?”

“[Fr. Kramer] Sister Lucy of Fatima, said that there would take place a diabolical disorientation in the Church. And there is nothing that could do more to bring that about than a liturgical revolution that would enshrine alien principles into a seemingly Catholic liturgy.

As a matter of fact, there is more substance to the question of a diabolical disorientation. I am referring to the part of the Third Secret of Fatima that has not yet been revealed. I know this to be a fact because **I have personally spoken with a German theologian and a seminary Rector who is a longtime close fiend of Pope Benedict. **

When Pope Benedict was still Cardinal Ratzinger, around 1990 he revealed to his friend that in the Third Secret of Fatima Our Lady warns not to change the liturgy: literally, not to mix extraneous foreign elements into the Catholic liturgy. Now, of course, with the new Mass of Pope Paul VI, that is exactly what was done. Elements of Protestantism, both in symbolism and in the wording of the liturgy, were brought into and mixed into a Catholic framework to the extent that the makers of the new Rite flatly stated that this is no longer the Roman Rite, it is a new creation.”

**“…Our Lady also warned that there would be an evil Council in the Church that would cause great scandal. **And of course, it was the documents of Vatican II-the Constitution on the Liturgy-which gave the impetus for Pope Paul VI to reform the liturgy in such a disastrous manner that caused such a loss of faith and confusion in the Church.”

“…Now after this took place, the German theologian who I am referring to went back to the country in South America where he was Rector of a seminary and he explained to a young priest what Cardinal Ratzinger had related to him. And precisely when he related that Our Lady warned against changing the Mass and there would be an evil Council in the Church, the both of them saw a plume of smoke coming up from the floor. Now it was a marble floor. This could not be anything of a natural phenomenon. Both the young priest and the old German Rector were so impressed they drew up a dossier and sent it to Cardinal Ratzinger.”

“…The elderly German priest, Ratzinger’s long-time personal friend, took note of the fact that when this vision of the Third Secret was published it did not contain those things, those elements of the Third Secret that Cardinal Ratzinger had revealed to him nearly ten years earlier. The German priest -Father Dollinger- told me that this question was burning in his mind on the day he concelebrated with Cardinal Ratzinger. Father Dollinger said to me, “I confronted Cardinal Ratzinger to his face” And of course he asked Cardinal Ratzinger, “how can this be the entire Third Secret? Remember what you told me before?”
Cardinal Ratzinger was cornered. He didn’t know what to say so he blurted out to his friend in German, “Wirklich gebt das der etwas” which means “really there is something more there,” meaning there is something more in the Third Secret
. The Cardinal stated this quite plainly.”

I know of another person who was told the exact same thing by another priest years ago, who also received the information from Cardinal Ratzinger. It seems clear why the promoters of Vatican II would want to bury the Third Secret.
