Yes, the first five saturdays devotion is necessary and most Catholics that I know have made them - many times. However, the list of Fatima items you presented are not directly tied to the conversion of Russia - most of them are not. 1. “I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me.” - this is part of the message but not necessary for the conversion of Russia - nor is the wearing of the brown scapular etc. (although highly recommended.) Your list was actually irrelevant to the topic.

**According to Sister Lucia and Fatima scholars, the following points are necessary for the conversion of Russia:
  1. “The essential request . . . was . . . ‘Will you be willing to accept whatever God will send you and to offer it up for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary?’ . . . she emphasized that it is the fulfillment of one’s daily duty, according to one’s state in life . . . which is the primary condition for turning back of the tide of evil which threatens today’s world, and which will also bring us the great favor of the conversion of Russia and an era of peace for mankind.”
    (from her Diary)
  2. Five First Saturday Devotions. We are directed to go to Confession, go to Mass and receive the Eucharist in reparation for the sins of the world as well as the conversion of Russia.
  3. Recitation of the Rosary. The Blessed mother said at Fatima that we need to pray the Rosary daily for sinners and for reparation of the world’s sins.**
Unwittingly you’ve proven the point that Russia has not been converted. When is the last time you’ve heard from the pulpit the necessity of the first five Saturday’s devotion or of Our Lady of Fatima at all? The fact is you’re more than likely not going to hear it from your Priest nor your Bishop yet you’ve stated the fact that people must do their part before Russia is converted. How can they do their part unless they’re told to? How can that happen if nobody cares about the message and think it irrelevant today?

A survey back in 1977 revealed that less than 22% of Catholics had even heard of Fatima or the requests that were made by Our Lady. When the pope made the third message known in 2000, less than half of that percentage had even known what the Vatican was talking about. Since the Fatima apparitions have been approved by the Church at the highest levels, it is up to the laity to do their part and spread the message and requests. We shouldn’t be waiting for priests to do it.

In an interview with Fr. Robert Fox, Sister Lucia also stated that there is much misunderstanding of what “conversion of Russia” means. Our Lady didn’t mean that Russia would convert to Catholicism. It meant that millions of people were enslaved by an atheistic system that stopped them from worshipping God in their churches and tried to eradicate the Faith all together. Since the fall of Communism, the Russian people now have the opportunity to attend church and deepen their faith. Remember - three generations of Russians were persecuted for the Faith. And the orthodox church is still a valid church.
Peary, my brother, you dig yourself deeper with each post. First you say the conversion of Russia has not taken place because the laity have not done their part & now you say it’s done according to Fr. Fox and that conversion means one of two things; a) a political conversion away from communism or b) a conversion to the schismatic (& heretical I might add) Orthodox Churches. In essence you make Our Lady out to be a politician or a promoter of schism which both are absolutely wrong and it’s utterly absurd to think that the Mother of God would ever mean ‘conversion’ to mean anything other than conversion to the one true Faith.

Also, for the record, please post the Fr. Fox interview you mention. I’ve read much on Fatima and have never read anything with the interpretation of ‘conversion’ you ascribe to it.

The Russian Orthodox Church is a big improvement on Communism, but it’s still a schismatic church with a reputation for being quite anti-Catholic at times. I have a rather hard time believing the Blessed Mother meant a conversion to the Orthodox Church.

**This discussion has become a round robin for both of us. We will have to agree to disagree on those points mentioned above. Sr. Lucia said that the Consecration was fulfilled in 1984. Communism as a political entity dissolved itself in the Soviet Union by 1991. Those are two facts that cannot be argued with.

Also, the Blue Army was and is the only official world apostolate of the Fatima message.**

You’re right, the Blessed mother couldn’t have been referring to a conversion to one of the Schismatic Eastern churches, such as the Russian church, a true conversion would only be to the one true Catholic Church, of which the Pope is the earthly head, which holds to the holy apostolic faith. She definitely did not mean conversion to one of the Schismatic Eastern churches.

That the Orthodox Churches are in schism is not disputed, but they are not heretical as RosaryCrusader believes. We are still moving toward union with the Orthodox Churches. Wouldn’t it be even more miraculous if, after having return to their own roots, the Russian Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church are re-united, thereby bring a total conversion overnight? Of course, that pre-supposes that the Conversion of Russia has not yet taken place, but I don’t think that that should have any effect on the validity of the Consecration of 1984; like Peary says, the latity needs to do its part.

I have macular degeneration and it helps me see. Hopefully, this will suffice your curiosity.
No, it doesn’t. And it doesn’t make sense. The bolding doesn’t even show up until after you write and post it, it doesn’t make anyone else’s postings bold, and there are simple settings on all major web browsers to override the fonts on webpages for people with disabilities. Multiple other individuals in other threads have asked you to stop and noticed this as well. So kindly cease and desist.

Wrong. And had you actually bothered to read some of the postings to this thread before you jumped in you would know this.

All of this has already been posted:

(From “The Devil’s Final Battle”, by Fr. Paul Kramer):

September 1985 - In an interview in Sol de Fatima magazine (a publication of friends of the Spanish Blue Army), Sister Lucy affirms that the Consecration of Russia still has not been done because, yet again, Russia was not the clear object of the 1984 consecration and the world’s episcopate did not participate.

1985 - Cardinal Gagnon, in an interview with Father Caillon, acknowledges the Consecration of Russia has still not been done.

1986 - Maria do Fetal publicly quotes Sister Lucy (her cousin) as saying that the Consecration of Russia still has not been done. Maria do Fetal will consistently maintain that Sister Lucy told her this until July 1989

July 20, 1987 - Interviewed quickly outside her convent while voting, Sister Lucy confirms to journalist Enrico Romero that the Consecration of Russia has not been done.

October 25, 1987 - In an audience with a dozen Catholic leaders, Cardinal Mayer publicly acknowledges that the Consecration has not been done according to Our Lady’s specific request.

November 26, 1987 - In a private meeting, Cardinal Stickler confirms that the Consecration has not been done because the Pope lacks the support of the bishops. “They do not obey him,” says Cardinal Stickler.

1988 - Cardinal Gagnon attacks Father Gruner for publishing the Caillon report of his 1985 statement that the Consecration has not yet been done. Cardinal Gagnon admits speaking to Father Caillon, and does not deny the truth of his report, but says it was not meant for publication.

1989 - More than 350 Roman Catholic bishops respond to a letter from Father Gruner, confirming their willingness to consecrate Russia with the Pope as requested by Our Lady at Fatima.

July 1989 - In the presence of three witnesses at the Hotel Solar da Marta in Fatima, Father Messias Coelho reveals that Sister Lucy has just received an anonymous “instruction” from unidentified persons in the Vatican bureaucracy. The “instruction” states that Sister Lucy and her fellow religious must now say that the Consecration of Russia was accomplished in the ceremony of March 25, 1984, even though Russia was never mentioned and the world’s bishops did not participate.

After this development, various witnesses — including, it is claimed, Sister Lucy herself — begin to repudiate their own prior statements that the Consecration has not been done. These witnesses previously clearly stated that Russia could not possibly have been consecrated as requested in the Fatima Message because of the failure to mention Russia and the failure to obtain the participation of the world’s bishops. Thus begins a process of “revising” Our Lady’s request from the Consecration of Russia to the Consecration of the world. At the same time, powerful forces from within the Vatican apparatus begin to target Father Gruner and his apostolate for suppression.

It was in a publication of the “Blue Army” that Sr. Lucia stated that the 1984 consecration had failed. This interview appeared in Sol de Fatima Magazine in 1985, a publication of the Spanish Blue Army. And the 1990 letter to Fr. Fox is a demonstrable fraud. Among other things, in this letter Sr. Lucia supposedly states that she had always said the 1984 consecration had been sufficient. This is a proven falsehood. Aside from the interview above, she told reporter Enrico Romero in 1987 that the consecration had failed. And her own cousin, Maria de Fetal, in 1986 stated publicly that Sr. Lucia told her the consecration had failed. And on, and on, and on. And Fr. Fox is himself a subject of controversy with regard to Fatima. Fr. Coelho revealed in 1989 that Sr. Lucia and her community and family had received an order from the Vatican directing everyone to begin saying the 1984 consecration had been sufficient.

And you would know all of this (and a lot more) if you actually had the courtesy to read some people’s postings before you jumped into a thread with a over a hundred responses and splashed bold text all over everyone’s screens.

Unless a moderator tells me, you are on your own. Just put me on ignore if it bothers you that much. You have an evil cold heart, as far as I am concerned.

That the Orthodox Churches are in schism is not disputed, but they are not heretical as RosaryCrusader believes.
I’m not sure what else you would call it when the Orthodox reject the dogmas of Papal Infallibility, purgatory, and most reject the Immaculate Conception as well as all of the Church’s councils post 1200AD, the indissolubility of marriage etc.

That’s only because they don’t believe they can, without the Bishop of Rome present in their own councils, develop doctrine any further past the time of the Great Schism. This is a subject for a different thread, though.

The Orthodox hedge and haw about papal infallibility (though they postulate something called “first among equals”), about purgatory (they have a theological tradition about “different levels” of Heaven), the Immaculate Conception (which is still wrapped in their theology of “Theotokos”) and even the Assumption (which they refer to as the “Dormition”), and true, they only accept the first 7 Church councils though they will
support other councils when it suits their purposes.

They have a valid priesthood, and they have valid sacraments. Heretical, no; schismatic, yes.

When the Immaculate Heart converts Russia, that will include uniting the Orthodox Russian church under Peter, a great miracle; as would be the conversion of five million Russian Muslims. “Pray the daily Rosary for peace.” --Our Lady of the Rosary, Fatima

This thread has turned into a circular mess.
I agree, and in addition, it seems to be a place where a great deal of sniping and character assassination is occurring. I also see postings that seem to be obsessed with conspiracy theories. All of this distracts from and leads us away from the Blessed Mother and the message that she was delivering to us at Fatima. I urge everyone to table the rancor and focus on the Blessed Mother and what we can do to please both her, and her son.

What a hulabaloo about nothing, the forum allows for bolding, it allows for colours as-well, if we want to write in pink with black for full-stops, then that’s the posters choice.

Writing in uppercase is seen as rude though, this is making a mountain out of a mole-hill, 🤷 start a thread on how we all should write, now back to the discussion please.

What you say is true. The focus has been taken off our Blessed Mother and into areas that produce no good fruit, only division. Some real soul searching needs to be done when we approach God through the Rosary. Jesus is Lord and judge, not us.

Very well. Start us off then. 🙂

I had to go back to the OP to remember what this thread was about. 😃
This thread has been very educational for me, I might have agreed with certain posters at the beginning, but as time went on, the true nature of their posts began to be obvious. THEY made up my mind for me.

How about praying the Rosary for peace in the world and conversions, not just for Russia, but worldwide? Those kind of humble prayers, I believe, do more good than people realize.

I see Fatima and other places and times in which our Blessed Mother Mary appeared were God’s idea of a “WAKE UP CALL” Mary had a message to deliver in person to humanity that God wanted delivered immediately . I know this sounds simplified but its the easiest way to understand things and get to the heart of the messsge which was REPENT, CONFESS , PRAY, BELIEVE , GO TO MASS as often as possible
I agree 100 %. All She is doing is trying to warn her children in these appearances.
