Is this the one you liked?
Yes, thank you! I posted it at work and it may have caused a problem. It’s caused “Theotokos of Tender Mercy”, and has always been one of my favorites.

i don’t know if this is the best board to put this but what are some of your favorite images of our blessed mother, Mary Mother of God

mine is below, very similar to the image that is on my friends ordination card, his mom painted it for him so cool, and i have it on my night stand by my bed which is desiened as my prayer area.
mine is the one from lourdes. 🙂

I hope you guys realize that she more than likely had dark skin just like jesus did. They were in a hotter area where people were very tan and had darker/thicker hair. The pictures of the jesus looking as a ‘white man’ are simply not true. there is a scripture in the bible that talks about how jesus looked. Mary did not look like your typical white woman, im sure of it.
Well… Jesus was a Jew. Right? Which makes me think Mary was a Jew. They certainly don’t depict Mary with typical Jewish traights… that’s for sure.

I SUSPECT the boy in this picture is TAN… see how pale that baby is? Beautiful Children regardless!

But I know lots of Jewish people, and many lily white. Usually with the ability to tan very well. Can’t see how one might get a tan with the clothing of the day…

This is my favorite I think:

Fantastic image. It really conveys what Mary was like- a handmaiden. She wasn’t rich or powerful or mighty. She was a simple woman who did a great thing.
🙂 Yes. Exactly. I’m not a modern art kind of person. So I really enjoy the striking realism.

bkayw, I must admit, I’m not a fan of that one with the Infant’s mouth on Mary’s shoulder. His eyes are freakishly creepy.

Wow, this one is so life-like. Where is it from?
I found it here: flickr.com/groups/701703@N21/discuss/72157613515385175/

This is what the site says about it:
This is the image of Mater Dolorosa or the grieving Blessed Virgin Mary. The image is eight generations old and is under the auspices of the Laderas family. The image has a silver float or known in the Philippines as “carroza”. It joins the annual Good Friday procession at the National Shrine of St. Anne in the province of Hagonoy in Bulacan, Philippines.
