Shawshank Redemption, the escape scene.

I second that. 👍
That scene is tough to beat.

Half of the drama of it is that Andy has beaten the devilish Warden Samuel Norton.
And, you have to wonder what effect this escape will have on Norton. 😃

I have a copy of Steve King’s novella, “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption” on which the movie is based. In the novella, there is no high tension between Andy and the warder. Andy doesn’t help Norton steal money and put it in banks under a false name. Norton is the fourth warden during the time Andy is in jail. After Andy escapes, Norton retires. No explanation of why.

The movie greatly improved on the story.
Of course,
the movie only works if you accept the unrealistic premise that Andy could not have any contact with a lawyer or anyone else on the outside world. Not realistic, especially when you consider Red himself had contact with the outside world because he was the man who got you things.

From “Tough Guys” starring Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas.

Two old train robbers are released from prison after thirty years.
They try to assimilate in society but the world has changed. Douglas wanders into a bar and a man asks him to dance. Douglas looks around and sees men dancing with each other. A gay bar is an inconceivable thing to Douglas who wanders out.
He finds Lancaster who is being threathened by a gang of young punks. The two old guys beat the gang off.

Then, Douglas asks:

-when Jesus falls carrying the cross, and the flashback to when he falls as a child and Mary runs to Him. Passion of the Christ.

-the final run into the Fort at the end of “Glory”

-Chuck Norris fight with Bruce Lee in “Return of the Dragon”

-The singing bush in “The Three Amigos!”
also, when Steve Martin is trying to call down to Chevy Chase and Martin Short…
also, El Guapo, “would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?”
 
The very first scene that came to my mind was in the first Raiders of the Lost Ark, where that guy is doing all this “ninja” posturing, and Indy Jones raises the gun and shoots him. 😃

But my very favorite movie scene is in The Blues Brothers. where Cab Calloway and the band are shabbily-dressed, and then Mr. Calloway turns around and he and the band are dressed in pure white tuxedos with tails, and they perform Minnie The Moocher in high-style. THAT’s kind of the way I see life–while others might see something crummy or low-talent, I see beyond it and see the situation as beautiful.

Another scene that I just love, and I could watch it a zillion times is in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation when Clark tells the family what he would say to the boss. It’s not something that I can post on a family online board, but it’s hilarious–he calls him every dirty name in the book!

I love the scene in Bridge To Terabithia (the new one, with Robert Patrick, my favorite actor, as the father), where the father comforts the son. Everyone in the theater cries during that scene.

And I love the first kiss between Charlie Allnut and Rose Sayer in The African Queen.

Finally, even though the movie has way too much bad language in it, I love the scene in Ice Castles where Lexie is doing her first competition after going blind, and no one is supposed to know that she’s blind–and she’s just skated a perfect program, and everyone is applauding madly–and then she trips over the flowers that the fans have thrown onto the ice. The applause stops for a moment, and then slowly, everyone in the audience begins to realize that a blind girl has just skated a great program and the applause gets even louder! Major tear-jerker! For a figure skating fan like me, this is such an awesome scene and reminds me of so many wonderful moments in my real-life experiences with the sport of figure skating.
 
I like the scene in E.T. where the alien goes home. I always thought it was a nice, touching scene.
 
The opening scene of Blazing Saddles. And the scene where Bart rides into town and gives his acceptance speech. ‘He says the sheriff is near.’ In fact every scene in that movie is good. ‘Someone’s gotta go back and get a shitload of dimes.’

Spaceballs, ‘what’s wrong col. Sanders, chicken?’ And ‘I see your Schwartz is as big as mine.’
 
Thought of another:

Wizard of Speed and Time - lots of great scenes, but in the movie in the movie where the wizard (played by Mike Jittlov) falls from the space shuttle into the olympic flame (played by the Seattle space needle) and lights it, and the audience rates him like judges at a gymnastics contest, and one judge (played by Jittlov) only gives it a 9.9 while the others give it a 10, and they attack him.

Maybe an all-time favorite scene for me would be WALL-E and EVE’s ballet-like floating in space dance thing (sorry can’t remember the movie too well but I can tell you that I loved it and I still do)

I like the scene in Terminator 2: Judgement Day wherein Sarah Connor is rescued from pascadero mental hospital with the help of Arnold, then gets chased by a liquid metal cop. I watched T2. It’s funny because almost all action films heavily borrow from T2.
 
Favorite movie scenes:
  1. When Paul Newman and Robert Redford fake being gunned down in the Sting, as Doyle Lonnegan escapes after losing $500,000 on a bad bet on Lucky Dan. After Lonnegan departs, they rise again. Wow - everyone in the theater was thrilled it was a con.
  2. When Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed get $ from all the townsfolk in Bedford Falls at the conclusion of It’s A Wonderful Life.
  3. When Spock arrives at the Enterprise in the first Star Trek movie.
  4. The Godfather Part 1 - all of it.

I like the Scene in Godfather Part 2 with Robert DeNiro and Leopoldo Trieste, who plays the landlord who had evicted the poor widow because she had a dog.

“The rent stays lika before!”
 
The scene near the beginning of MUSKETEER, where the Cardinal asks D’Artsgnan:
