Favorite TV or movie theme songs

I’m having a lazy Sunday afternoon flipping through TV channels looking for something to watch and I came upon reruns of Star Trek Enterprise, which reminded me that the theme song of that TV series is one of my favorites ever. And I thought, why not make a thread about it.

What are some of your favorites?

Not the theme song, although that too was darn good. But one of the more beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard in a movie comes from “The Song of Bernadette.” Namely, when Bernadette first encounters that “mysterious lady” at the grotto of Massabielle. It is by Alfred Newman and is entitled “The Vision.” It can be viewed from the movie itself immediately below at 16:20. Or from the soundtrack below that.

I really loved the musical score for The Thornbirds miniseries by Henry Mancini.

But I also like the theme to Cheers and Gilligans Island.

The Small Wonder theme song is bad and the composer should feel bad.

Love the music from the movie “Last of the Mohicans”, it is SO beautiful…

Love the music from “Pirates of the Caribbean”…

The movie “The Mission” also had very beautiful music…

I have literally dozens of favorite themes. For me, the theme over the opening credits is often the best part of the show.

Here is one of my favorite film themes. Many consider it to be one of the best, if not THE best, movie themes ever. The producer hated the theme and wanted to get rid of it, but was talked into keeping it. The movie itself (“The Bad and the Beautiful”, starring Kirk Douglas and Lana Turner) is also pretty good.
