That too is part of what needs to be reformed.
Why?

Do you understand why we have quotas? Do you not understand that ours are far more lenient than pretty much anyone else’s in the world?

Ever emigrate anyone here? I have. It was a pain, and it was expensive, and it felt invasive (financial statements, property deeds, stock certificates - man, the Feds know more about me than my accountant!) but it wasn’t hard.

They never come out and say it, but that is what it all comes back to.
Liberals want an open invite to anyone who wants to walk/fly in.

At most they might accept excluding those with serious felony records
No need to prove you can support yourself, that’s why we have welfare, isn’t it?

Seems that way.

I had to sign a binding document stating that we would not become a burden on the state for I think it was five years (I can’t remember now) should a green card be issued. I handed over more financial documentation to the Feds than I think I’ve ever given to my accountant (slight exaggeration, but it surely felt like it). Had I not been able to prove I was capable of support, they could’ve denied my husband entry and essentially deported him.

It’s the central issue, not a minor part.
I assume you lean ‘open boarders’ and thus dominance from our immediate neighbor,
while I advocate for the current model that gives us a broad international distribution, much better for our diversity and for melding into our culture.
Straw man. Again. (sigh!)
