War isn’t waged with the expectation that every individual battle will be won. That’s unrealistic. Of course the pro-life movement will lose some battles. That’s why war is a series of battles, not just one big battle.
We’re guaranteed to eventually win because we’ve got God’s truth while they’ve got only zeitgeist which passes with time. The problem isn’t whether we’ll win, we eventually will, the problem is all the babies’ lives that will be lost before we win.
Here are some words of encouragement from the Priests for Life website (posted during election day yesterday):
“Ready For Anything,” Fr. Pavone says
“Our movement is ready for anything tonight,” Fr. Frank Pavone said this evening from his New York office, where he and his communications staff are assessing the election returns as they come in and preparing for media interviews tomorrow and the massive national conference call to take place tomorrow night with pro-life activists and leaders.
“There is no possible outcome of this election for which we are not prepared,” Fr. Frank asserted, “and no scenario in which we will not know what to do next. As I have taught across this country, the pro-life movement is winning, and the dynamics by which it is winning go far beyond the political realm. The abortion industry itself is in a state of near collapse, as abortion mills close, the number of providers shrink, and the utter corruption of the industry continues to be revealed.
“Moreover, the voices of women who have had abortions – as those in our Silent No More Awareness Campaign – continue to awaken our fellow citizens that abortion doesn’t solve any problems, but only creates new ones. At the same time, the voices of young people – aware that they are abortion survivors – continue to drown out the frantic, incoherent voices of ‘my body, my choice.’
“This movement is winning. We have worked for the election of pro-life candidates today, and for the passage of pro-life initiatives in various states. We are prepared to work with the public officials who are pro-life; we are prepared to challenge the public officials who are pro-abortion. In fact, those elected tonight who favor legal abortion will not have a single day in office when they will not have to answer the challenges of pro-life people who will ask them why they cannot tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public.”
