I have been active in prolife activism for several years. Not in front of clinics (the frontlines) but with legislative action, different political groups, etc.

Right now, I just feel like giving up. I can’t ignore the reality of what is going on with our legislative direction - local, state, federal.

Last week I did go to a PP and a man said he was paying for his girlfriend’s abortion because otherwise she was going to through out his “stuff”-clothes, music, etc. And he didn’t deny it was a baby.

I haven’t been on CAF for months. I don’t know where to turn. I can barely pick up a rosary, listen at Mass or utter a short prayer to God.

Thanks for listening.

I see your green light is on.

Don’t give up. People like me who don’t know how to help and the unborn babies who can’t help need your dedication.

While I think the loving Father takes care of the innocents, we are called to be a part of the body of Christ. Your action, no matter how trying, will make a difference.

If you need courage to hang on, if you need inspiration to keep going, look at the Crucifix. Jesus could have came down off that aweful, aggonizing cross, but He didn’t!

God loves you for helping the little ones. I’ll pray that you get your courage.👍

Thanks for your post.

Right now it just seems too much to handle and it seems like so many people don’t care. If FOCA becomes a federal law it leaves us with little recourse, and no one knows this. There are people who want to allow killing a baby until the parents leave the hospital with the baby. Where does it stop?

Some days I wish I could be someone else, so I didn’t know about any of this going on.

This is a very lonely battle…

Lynnie,
Please do not despair! All of my friends are right now, as we speak, praying the 40 Days for Life outside of local abortion clinics. I have been receiving daily updates and already babies have been saved! Although I have been unable to join them physically, I have been praying with them at home and staying in touch. The good news is there is much to be hopeful about! There are so many young people involved, throwing caution to the wind and witnessing fearlessly for life. Many of our local priests have stood on the prayer line and even a few local Evangelical Pastors have joined the Catholics outside the clinics! We’ve gotten a bit of local press as well.

As difficult as it is to commit to “front line” work, I feel it can be so beneficial for us because it is on the street where we see the immediate impact of our work. Those who are praying are filled with joy and zeal. From our group:
THIRD BABY SAVED !!!
**On Monday, October 20th, 40 Days for Life sidewalk counselor Theresa D. and her sons, had the opportunity to speak with a girl who was going into Olympia’s Planned Parenthood for an abortion. In fact, it was Theresa’s three young sons who were very instrumental in the saving of the unborn baby’s life. **
Theresa was indisposed at the time the girl had arrived for the "procedure." Thus, it was the boys who made first contact and spoke with the girl for some time while another son went to retrieve their mother.
**Theresa arrived and after considerable discussion, including the use of the little unborn baby model and card, the girl chose life for her baby! What a blessing! **
We will be helping her, and at this time she is considering adoption.
Just a note: Theresa was instrumental in the saving of a baby last year at 40 Days for Life.
PRAISE GOD !!!
God bless you and yours,
And another reflection:
I can’t help but throw in another important reason why many people may not be involved. Many people feel that shouting slogans is not the best way to change the world. They feel that slogans like “Abortion kills children” just alienates people who don’t believe that a fetus is a child. I was such a person. I didn’t believe that a fetus was a child, and I was alienated by these slogans. And when I started to believe, I avoided people shouting slogans for that very reason.

To get people like me involved, you need to convince them that this event is a prayerful meditation and invitation to a conversation about the value of life. You need to convince them that you will not respond with shouting or anger to anyone who approaches you with shouting or anger. This is what I saw last year, and that’s what won me over! I truly saw that Christ was present.
Don’t give up hope! Remember, God is in control - even when we can’t begin to guess what He is up to!👍

I am like you, it’s all a big joke, nothing will ever change, vote pro life or don’t vote at all it makes no difference. For 25 years I have fought the good fight and it makes no difference. I am just going to spend my retirement years watching game shows on TV.

Don’t give up! Even if you save just one baby, that’s one more human life! God doesn’t give up on us, so why should we give up on our unborn brothers and sisters?:o

Perhaps a Holy Hour or two may help revitalize you. I know it helps. Just be present there with Jesus in silence. Let Jesus help you.

Hi LL,

I’m feel somewhat like you. I feel that it is going very bad for the pro-life group, anywhere around the world. Laws are being made that makes it harder for pro-lifer to do their ministry. If FOCA passes, it will be so much more difficult.

But I do have a recommendation for you. I tend to think like St. Therese, the little flower. Each one of us will probably not be able to do big things, such as change the laws to protect children, but we can do little things. We can pray for expectant mothers who are thinking of abortion, we can educate the few around us. We can pray the Rosary, Adore Jesus during Holy Hours.

Just as Jade said, if you can change just one person to save a life, then you’ve accomplished much. Since abortion was made available, close to 1 billion of the world’s people have been aborted. Just imagine that 1 billion souls praying to God to send people like us to help save their brothers and sisters.

God bless you!
Ben

The eleventh chapter of Matthew came to mind when I read your post. “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy burdened, and I will give you rest…”

Let me offer a reason for not giving up. Later on this school year I will be putting together a “Media Month” for my high school class at St. Patrick’s. My students and I will explore the various catholic media outlets - radio, magazines, TV stations and websites. Catholic Answers will be included. So I need plenty of good example threads to show them.

Also, if you have any resources you can recommend to me concerning life issues that would be great.

Trust in Jesus

I know how you feel. I have intensely involved in pro-life movement for many years.

It seems that when I really get down, a priest will come forth and restore my confidence not in the pro-life movement but in GOD.

Last week the priest at the church I attended reminded us that God is in charge of this planet. No we can’t see him and we don’t see the whole picture. We are just called to believe.

Mother Teresa says it best when she says we are not called to be successful but only called to do our small part.

The battle was won 2000 years ago.

never give up. never say quit. look into the eye of evil and dare not blink. you are stronger than you think. ask for streangth and it shall be given unto you. give up and you facilitate evil. that, is something you cannot permit.

trust me. once a righteous person turns his back to Truth, it will eat at him or her forever----------------forever. and it never lets up. day and night it reminds us of our moment of weakness. I know.

do not make the same mistake i made years ago. keep up the fight.

We all need to remember that. To sit back and do nothing because we feel we aren’t effective isn’t an option. I don’t know if anyone of you is familiar with the children’s story, “Horton hears a who,” but I think the story has an idea of what can happen when that final “yolp” is cried out. En masse, we can be heard.

I want to thank everyone for the great incouragement. I too feel so over whelmed and even on the urge of crying when I think that today may change everything. But someone said that we cannot give up because God is in controll. What incouragement. Thank you and all of you who offered such great advice and insight in this war.

Don’t give up.

We may never be able to change legislation… but we ARE reaching young people with our message that it’s a BABY. At the life chain recently, I was literally surrounded by teenagers holding signs. It was beautiful. 👍

Hey guys…do not give up. Do not DESPAIR. Above all else, God rewards faithfulness.

Remember how long the Israelites wandered around the desert before they finally found the promised land.

Think about Simeon, praying constantly in the temple that God would deliver Israel. His prayers were answered but not until he was an old man.

Think about Elizabeth & Sarah, how they prayed for children EVEN after it seemed impossible & went through menopause.

In our country’s more recent history, think how long slavery lasted & how we still to this day are struggling with the ramifications of it.

Pray for a spirit of courage & strength. Ask God to help you in your despair. Remember if abortion upsets you this much, think about how much more it upsets our Lord & Savior who sacrificied His own Body & Blood to save us. You are sharing in Christ’s suffering when you are working to abolish abortion.

While I have not given up yet , Im very very close to it. I have to put my energy into things where Im effective. If I give up, that means I no longer vote anymore. My purpose in voting was to bring us closer to equil protection for the unborn. If my vote doesnt do that my vote is a waste of time. When God’s punishment comes to America for accepting abortion and yes the infanticide that Obama is fanatically for, I will not stand in the way.

:gopray2: :gopray2: You know, Jesus fell 3 times on the road to Calvary…and He got back up to carry His cross so that we can be redeemed. He didn’t die needlessly…and neither will the efforts of our cause. We are His hands and His feet now on earth, and we can never give up fighting for those babies who lost their lives.

We have to pick up the cross and carry it again…and again until we meet God face to face one day in heaven.

We are in this together no matter what. And if God is for us, nothing is against us, nothing!!!

I feel the same way. I am currentlly listening to the pro-life candidate for president concede defeat to the candidate who promised that his first act as president would be to sign the FOCA into law.

Right now I want to run screaming from our country. I want to beg God to take me now so I can spend my afterlife praying for all those poor babies who will now be murdered in the womb.

But I know that God is bigger than I am. That’s all that’s keeping me going.

Ill be working on other issues where I might succeed. I have so little time outiside of work and keeping up my survival, I have to pick my battles. Mark my words America is in big trouble, once punishemnt starts coming from God I am not going to be a dummy and stand in the way. Im just going to tell alot of people , " I told you so" and let the punishment begin.

But what do we do to convince people to open their hearts to the Holy Spirit, when listening to a man who’s comparing his presidency to Rosa Parks or MLK’s service to their county???
