Why does everyone here hate homosexuals? Or, you know, what they do?

They’re not poisoning children, just telling a kid that homosexuality isn’t bad doesn’t mean they’ll become one. And even if it did, who cares? The Earth is overpopulated, and gay people are fun at parties.

If this is what Christianity is, then I’m glad I left.
Whoa. “Everybody here” does not hate homosexuals. Personally, I resent everything being about gay or straight but I have no problem with Google’s banner or whatever it is. I think that harsh laws directed at gays just feed into the whole “whoever does not agree with everything we do is a bigot” narrative. It’s counterproductive.

As for you leaving Christianity, it’s your choice, but these argument are NOT what Christianity is about and frankly you sound intelligent enough to know that. Christianity is about Christ - that’s it, that’s all. It’s your choice to get to know him or to allow yourself to be put off by distractions.

You fail to account for people who simply cannot have children, which happens. Women who can’t produce eggs and men who can’t produce sperm. What about them?
I do not know about the morality of heterosexual couples being simply unable to have children no matter what. The Catholic Church teaches that the purpose of sex is for children, this is why even heterosexual Christian couples are forbidden from having anal or oral sex.
Also, LGBT couples can also have children through other means, lesbians can use donors to artificially inseminate themselves, gay male couples can use a separate female to develop a child of theirs.
That’s what I’m saying. The purpose of sex is to be between two individuals so they can create a child. If the egg or sperm of a third party is required, it is unnatural.
Your arguments simply don’t stand up.
Well, I’m trying my best.
Lastly, you don’t simply hate gay people, and most of these people do. I’d say that makes you better than them. Trying to follow the scripture doesn’t make you good, it makes you gullible. Have you read that bronze-age text? It’s more filled with hatred than any other book I’ve ever read.
Jesus taught to love all, and that’s all I’m trying to do. 🙂 I doubt these people hate homosexuals, they just don’t want to be exposed to gay rights propaganda everywhere, and that is their personal opinion and their right to feel that way. They gathered on this forum to discuss these feelings with each other peacefully.

I try to follow the Scriptures and I’m not gullible. I went through a period of harsh questioning of my beliefs, and I ended up coming back to the Catholic faith, so I’m not following blindly. I have also read most of the Old Testament (which includes the Bronze Age Hebrew texts), and you must remember that these books were written by many different authors. That means many points of view and many different ideas and opinions of God and how He handles things. People back then were also much more violent and severe in everything they did. In that time if one person was murdered, the victim’s family would probably react by killing the murderer along with his family. Just because heinous acts were recorded in the Bible doesn’t mean those heinous acts were supported by God or got His approval. Judas’ deception of Jesus is recorded in the Bible, that doesn’t mean that what he did is to be imitated or approved. Quite the opposite, in fact.

They are just a bunch of liberal goons. Really, you should feel sorry for them. I use them because they are good at what they do, I can’t help it if they are insane.

I haven’t watched T.V. for over two years but I do watch some things on U-tube. It has a lot of good content, but I refuse to sign up.

Linus2nd.
As opposed to right wing goons? Seriously I haven’t used Google since I got my current computer which comes with Bing. Does Bing have politics that I am unaware of?

Google is really out of line in this doodle. What Russia banned is LGBT propaganda directed at minors.
…
But corrupting minors with LGBT propaganda is quite another thing.
.
By LGBT propaganda they mean anything that acknowledges that homosexual relationships exist and can be just as good as straight ones or that LGBT folks deserve the same rights as everyone else. I fail to see how that knowledge could corrupt anyone.

It’s not like when you find out the nice guy down the street likes men you think “cool I gotta get me some of that,” unless you already are that way.

Although the law says minors, the emforcement reality has been far harsher.

I know it’s not everyone, I just didn’t add the word “most”.

I don’t understand the second part of your first paragraph, it’s barely comprehensive.

I know that the Christianity of most people isn’t about hatred and death, but the book they worship is.

I don’t know what you mean by the last sentence, because it’s hard to get to know a random guy that died 2,000 years ago, who was depicted as an imaginary deity in human form. I mean, he doesn’t exist anymore. If he ever did exist, he’s a pile of bones in the ground, not some divine being.

You seem to actually be quite reasonable. I mean, your faith in the Bible is not a good thing, but I can’t convince you since you would inevitably just shrug away everything I present against your belief in that book…

If you don’t hate gay people, that’s good. But it’s their right to do what they please, and I don’t care if it offends your imaginary friend.

On to the last part, you cannot say that you are not gullible if you have faith in the Bible. It’s contradictory.

If you have read the old testament, then you must realize how ridiculous the Bible is. And you justify it by saying that it was a bunch of peoples’ perspectives, but the Christian faith says that the Bible was written by the hand of “God”, using the authors as puppets. So it would only be one being’s perspective.

And you say that the horrible or violent acts in the Bible were not executed with “God”'s direction or approval. What about the stuff that “God” directly ordered or did? Genocide, smashing babies against rocks, etc.

Dash Lambda. Be respectful while discussing with people, and don’t slander the bible as false or make assumptions about the people on these forums. We’re to retain some form of civility on these forums.

Why, thank you. 🙂
I mean, your faith in the Bible is not a good thing, but I can’t convince you since you would inevitably just shrug away everything I present against your belief in that book…
I wouldn’t shrug it off, I’d try to explain my belief of it to the best of my ability. Feel free to hit me with your best shot.
If you don’t hate gay people, that’s good. But it’s their right to do what they please, and I don’t care if it offends your imaginary friend.
I don’t hate homosexuals, not at all. And it is indeed their right to do what they want; what goes on in someone else’s bedroom is not my business. Also, I would appreciated if you didn’t refer to God as my ‘imaginary friend’. I believe in Him and to me He is not imaginary. I have been respectful of your beliefs and opinions and I would appreciate if you were respectful of mine.
On to the last part, you cannot say that you are not gullible if you have faith in the Bible. It’s contradictory.
Just because I have faith in the Bible, I’m gullible? Would you care to explain why?
If you have read the old testament, then you must realize how ridiculous the Bible is. The books were not directly written by God. Christianity teaches that He inspired the authors to write the books using whatever literary devices or point of view they desired. So, technically they are different perspectives since the authors weren’t possessed or anything when they wrote the books.
And you say that the horrible or violent acts in the Bible were not executed with “God”'s direction or approval. What about the stuff that “God” directly ordered or did? Genocide, smashing babies against rocks, etc.
Many of the stories in the Old Testament are allegories or metaphors for other things. If the genocide you are referring to is Noah’s ark, it is becoming more accepted that the story was an allegory for the creation of baptism (cleansing waters and all that), to give an example.

It seems my conversation with Dash Lambda was deleted/reported. If this is the case, please disregard and delete my previous post, as I began writing it before the conversation was deleted.

Sorry for derailing the thread so much. :doh2:

I’ll preface this by saying I’m Dash Lambda. Hello.

It’s funny how you people decided to delete all my posts and lock my account because I disagree.

Christianity: Intolerant, censoring, ignorant and lying. Locking me out of this account won’t do much good either because I have a lot of aliases and a lot of computers. It’s useless to lock a computer engineer out of a website.

I was surprised that I was blocked. It means that the people running this forum are intolerant to other people’s views and want to eliminate anyone that disagrees from your community.

I’d like you guys to debate me, not plug your ears.
