This parish music director was fired after announcing his marriage to another man. Then he sued the parish and the Archdiocese of Chicago, alleging illegal discrimination.
Code:
At the time he was fired the Archbishop of Chicago, Cardinal George, said Collette was dismissed for his "participation in a form of union that cannot be recognized as a sacrament by the church."

The judge, ruling in favor of the church, said that "the Supreme Court has recognized the right of religious organizations to control their own affairs," Kocoras wrote. "This right includes the freedom to 'decide for themselves, free from state interference, matters of church government" and "to select their own leaders."

Good!

True. Our Archdiocese is having enough money trouble and having to close parishes and schools due to insufficient funds already.
Since he filed a court challenge after a Supreme Court decision that stated that "This right includes the freedom to 'decide for themselves, free from state interference, matters of church government" and “to select their own leaders,” it seems to be frivolous, so he should have to pay legal fees.
