First Lady booed at NASCAR race

Nope, if Palin can’t handle the boos, she should get out of the game too. If you are in the political arena (and don’t try to sell me that line of junk that Michelle is not a politician) and you cannot take a “BOOOOO” then you should find another line of work.

I heard Douglas Schoen(liberal) on the radio today, he seems to think that the Obama’s are tired of the political life, particularly Michele and the kids. He and Pat Caddell wrote this very interesting article on why they are hoping Obama drops out of the race. Doug figures that if he does decide to drop out it will be within the first three months of the new year.

From his analysis of the way Obama’s ignoring even the top leaders of his own party, he thinks he may end up taking his hat out of the ring.

Something tells me he will be wrong though.

My brother recently returned from the event’s preceding one of these races. As much as I’d like to boo the Obama’s for their political views, I don’t think I would do it, more that I just wouldn’t feel like wasting my breath than anything else. But after what he described to me as to what goes on before the races begin, this doesn’t surprise me the least bit.

I was aware that it was a quote from Jude, but I still unsure of the connection, unless you’re saying that in the way the Michael did not disrespect the devil, we should not disrespect Michy. So Michy was the devil, after all? No, she’s not; she’s only an unpaid assistant at the White House, and she doesn’t merit the type of respect from us that Satan merited from Michael.

Edit for full disclosure: I would not have booed them, because I was not there and would not have been there under any circumstances. I watch events like this from home, where I can mute the evangelical pre-race prayers, the embarrassing renditions of the National Anthem, and political/economic figures for whom I care not a fig declaiming “Gentlemen, start your engines.”

I admit I chuckled when I read the article.

I’ve noticed that Mrs. Obama has been getting out among ‘the people’ more often in recent months, and this kind of thing is bound to happen in a free society like ours, perhaps even more so at a NASCAR event.

Yes, the booing reflected bad manners and a lack of respect among some people, but I could’ve figured out how low some people are by going to the grocery store.

What this topic has taught us:

1. Booing the President’s wife is disrespectful.
2. Mocking NASCAR fans for how they look stereotypically is perfectly fine.

I don’t watch much NASCAR, but you have to love people who post in a topic about “staying classy” and subsequently making fun of other human beings.

It WAS tasteless and disrepectful what they did at NASCAR, and I would say the same thing if it was either Laura Bush or Hilary Clinton or any other First Lady. If one cannot respect the person, then respect what she represents----the wife of the democratically elected leader of the free world.

I was just pointing out the less conventional choices of public presentation I have seen present at NASCAR and other racing events. Maybe this lack of conventional standards may give some explanation with problems in operating under normal decorum in a public setting as demonstrated at this event.

I have a friend who was at the race (a Republican) and he says there was widespread, not sparadic, booing.

But yes, he did say it was less than some driver which folks apparently don’t like. He states that there is a culture of “booing” in NASCAR- plus drinking can add to this.

I was watching and I heard little booing. But OTOH I was not looking for it. I would not have done it had I been there, but I am not surprised that it happened.

She was using a captive audience to promote her political image, that is rude. She has not been elected and she is stepping way beyond what the role of first lady should cover. To me is quite rude to use an acceptable flimsy political showoff to give the impression of having widespread public support. She does not hold any office and so we should be very careful in not creating or accepting an aristocracy when there is none.

There are many images of this at NASCAR events, but no I have never been to a NASCAR race. I did go, once, to a race in the lower brackets of the sport (don’t know what that was called) and it was riffe with really interesting attire. It was quite an experience.
