Interesting in light of the fact that many are proclaiming Hillary Clinton was the winner of that debate. Surely it would have been expected she would of got an increase poll-wise.

Trump supporters will take this. Hillary can take the debate win and we’ll take the votes. After all, she didn’t pass out or had difficulty with her words, so you can say she won.

I think Trump is a liar. We can easily evaluate the ridiculousness of his accusations through simple math. If this woman gained 55 pounds in 9 months, through basic math we can determine that he is accusing her of gaining 4.9 pounds/day. 1 pound is 3500 calories. To gain 55 pounds in 9 months that would mean that she would have needed to be eating 17,150 calories/day, everyday for nine months straight. Which is ludicrous, and I just dont believe him.

Your math is way off. So before calling anyone a liar, perhaps you should double check your facts and the resulting figures (pun intended.)

Nine months is 9X30 days (approximately.) That would be about 270 days. Divide 55 pounds by 270 days and you get .20 pounds per day or about 700 calories if your 1 pound = 3500 calories claim is correct. Quite within the realm of possibility.

Now feel free to take back your “ludicrous” comment and how your “evaluation of the ridiculousness of his accusations through simple math” is completely bogus.

And since the poster quies used your calculations as his basis for ripping into Trump University, it appears that at least two of you could use “mo betta edumacation,” at least where math is concerned.

I would never vote for Hillary and I’m not from the USA, but seriously I’d be a little embarrassed if my fellow countrymen were won over to Trump’s side after that debate performance. There is no question that he did abysmally. Anyone being objective could see that. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that a candidate tanked a debate and still voting for them for whatever reason.

I suspect the polls are being overrun by followers of “The Donald” Reddit thread; it’s the only logical explanation.

I suspect the assessing of “winning” is a far deeper matter than mere scoring of debate points where something like the leadership of a country is involved. Most people who are serious about the question are asking whether they would want the kind of person who presented themselves through the debate to lead their country.

I also think the kind of person Hillary is working hard to mask under the guises of competency and coolness still came through and the audience got enough of a whiff of that person to be slightly put off.

Watch O’Reilly’s no spin analysis starting at the 2:50 mark to get what perhaps more than a few viewers picked up on – the smug self-satisfied gloating which also came through the following day.

I give the debate to Hillary on points even though I’m against her. Trump didn’t help by interrupting her repeatedly.

As for Trump his excuses for not releasing his tax returns are weak to non-existent. I’ve always suspected they might show he isn’t anywhere as rich as he claims but then I saw this article in Fortune, it speculates that in the 90s he might have declared himself insolvent to avoid taxes.
On the same subject, the pretty much admitted he pays little or no taxes, “it would just be wasted” and “that makes me smart”. I wonder how that goes over with his base?

I agree with Silver on this. The effect of the debates take a few days as people discuss them with their friends and family.

I don’t consider myself part of his base but I do plan on voting for him.

I do everything I legally can to minimize the amount of taxes I pay, it would be “dumb” not to in my opinion. If not minimizing your tax burden is “dumb” then would minimizing it be “smart”? I think so. I think I can spend my money better than the government and I think the government does waste a lot of money. I don’t see a problem with his remarks on this subject.

The following day then he goes on Fox and Friends and instead of saying, “I don;t really remember interacting with Miss Machado, and I never intended to cause any animosity between us.” That would have been a good answer.

But he reiterates and says she was the worst Miss Universe ever. Why can’t he ever be diplomatic and or at least pretend?

Now, he’s claiming his microphone wasn’t working, It was. We all heard all his answers, and all his interruptions, and how his son is really good with computers.

I will never understand why, when Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate, this man is the Republican candidate.

Well, the fact is that “stop and frisk” was approved by the Supreme Court. One federal judge does not make something “unconstitutional”. So why should Trump not be believed in this instance?

And Holt was absolutely biased. Not all the way through, but definitely at times. A moderator is supposed to elicit candidate responses, and not enter the debate as a participant himself, which he did in challenging Trump’s assertion that he opposed the Iraq War and that “stop and frisk” has passed constitutional muster with the only court that really matters, ultimately. Holt incorrectly just said Trump was wrong, becoming a debate partner for Clinton. Holt entered the argument himself. He should have left any “rebuttal” to Clinton.

As to the debate itself, I was initially inclined to think Clinton won it, and still am, though less so than I was previously. In the first part of the debate, Trump’s assertion that Clinton has had 30 years to propose all the “changes” she now wants to implement, but didn’t, was effective. Toward the end, he didn’t do at all well, in my opinion.

But there are those who claim Clinton threw her advantage away toward the end by adopting a smug and mocking attitude. About that, I couldn’t say.

Eric Bolling was in the audience for the debate, and he talked about the mic issue or something on the ‘The Five’ on Fox News and there does seems to be have been some issue or something with Donald Trump’s mic in the room were the debate was taking place.

Eric Bolling said it was hard to hear his voice in the aud. So was the mic on his jacket turned up, super loud? Hills down low? Opp 4 others

A one point shift could very well be just ‘statistical noise’ in the poll. Now if they said there was a 5-8 point shift, that would be something to look further into.

How many calories one would have to eat in order to gain or lose weight depends on many factors, including your level of activity, your current weight, your age. The algorithms that calculate these things are rather complex.

Agree. I think Trump did well at the beginning but then degenerated. He let Hillary get under his skin. I don’t blame her for gloating. Her strategy worked.

And I’m tired of these tabloid questions, birther, etc. Let’s stick to policy questions. I expected Lester Holt to ask more mature questions, and was disappointed.
