Yes, there are those who do use a missal to follow Mass in their native tongue…and for the life of me I cannot understand why. I have never used a missal or a missalette to follow the Mass when celebrated in English simply because I see no reason to: I understand every word the celebrant and the lectors are saying…and I know all the parts that the congregation are expected to say by heart.

Now, once the revised Missal is published, it will make sense to use the Missal again, at least for a little while, until we’ve committed the revisions to memory. For most people, that should take about a year. For many, it will be alot sooner. The changes on the way, after all, are not terribly extensive.
No, but there sure has been a lot of :crying: about them from some quarters!

Good, then you won’t have a problem rememorizing them (such as the Creed or Gloria) every few years.

But don’t be surprised to hear a few complaints from your fellow parishioners. I already hear those complaints on my own block when talking about the “changes” and I don’t even go with them to Mass.

I’m sorry but I see all attempts to babelize the Mass have only resulted in less understanding of the Mass. Vernacularization is costly and imprecise. Vernacularizing wasn’t necessary for over 1600 years except for the Protestants. And the earth didn’t tilt its axis one degree.
