Amazing how some people are so unaware of the history of this country they think it’s in any way alright to associate the word "monkey"with a black person. That’s not a dog whistle, that’s just a whistle (if you want a dog whistle he also called Gillum “articulate” which has its own long, racist history).

Hillary should be counting her stars that you weren’t Director of the FBI, instead of Comey, when she was investigated. He couldn’t find intention when it was staring him in the face, but you can find it jumping out at you in a single spoken word.

Your thread title is so very misleading. He did not refer to his opponent using the word monkey. He used monkey as a in throwing a wrench into the system - to confuse the situation.
 
He probably doesn’t believe in donations. As an authoritarian socialist, he probably thinks government should just take it.

Nonsense. It refers to the use of words or phrases that may seem innocent to most people but that have a different, more sinister or racist tone with others.

Nonsense. It is a racist accusation against whites, that they respond like dogs. It is far more racist that the phrase “monkeying it up”, a phrase not unlike the one my dad used to use towards my brothers and I , “stop monkeying around”.

I don’t believe Leaf used it that way, but the progressive leadership clearly means it that way, as part of the racist identity politics campaign

DeSantis is one of many “one offs” [admittedly an oxymoron]…the real travesty is the those who are self-righteously indignant about condemning him because it upsets their unholy political paradigm which includes throwing the Gospel out as long as their agenda is advanced.

I think you are seeing something that is not there. Plenty of people use the phrase “monkey it up” without any connotation to race. But I guess some see what they want to see. Almost as silly as the big controversy when Romney referred to a binder of resumes. Any one who has ever shopped at Office Depot or Walmart knows where to find items called binders. Seems to me that Dems are constantly looking for something to be offended at or to call racist. Disgraceful.

Which Gospel? The Gospel According to Hereiam?

Whether or not “their agenda” is or is not compatible with the actual Gospel, the whole of it, is a crucial question. However, bashing others based upon portraying globalist socialism as “the Gospel” is somewhat presumptuous since there is great debate about that at the moment.

Just assuming your political side OWNS the Gospel message, rather than that it has co-opted the Gospel for political gain, may be a travesty and an offense to God’s Word.

You might want to think again about your presumption.
 
When word gets out that DeSantis allowed his kids to play “Monkey in the Middle” and that he claimed that his favorite band was “The Monkees”, he is finished.

Now I like Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz as much as the next guy, but that is just unacceptable.

There’s really no end to it. Does he eat Aunt Jemima pancakes or Uncle Ben’s wild rice? Did he ever say “tom-foolery” with the obvious reference to “Uncle Tom” in it. When he was a little kid, did he ever say “Negro”? Possibly Mueller should investigate that one. Can he speak Spanish, in which the word “black” is “Negro”. Did he EVER sing a song as a child that was written by STephen Foster, even if it was cleaned up? Did he read “Life on the Mississippi” ? And, of course, that “eeny, meeny, miney, mo” child’s game is racist even if you say “fellow” because it once had the “n” word in it.

It just goes on and on. Does he prefer white shirts to colored shirts?

Fact is, simply being white is racist because it’s “exclusionary” right in your DNA,
 
There also is a little game popular with kids called Barrel of Monkeys. The monkeys come in a barrel and you take them out and see how many you can hang onto the tails.

I loved the old tv show the Monkees when I was a teenager.
 
Well…DeSantis…is a Catholic…he is Pro life…and against Planned Parenthood…and I live in Florida…so…guess what

Perhaps. Although “mess around” or “muck around” are probably far more common. Given the overtones, it was an intriguing choice of words.

So many who are posting on this thread with such incredulity that the words could be taken as having racial overtones, also have taken great liberty in putting a very negative spin on the the words of politicians that they oppose. What a surprise!

But it is noteworthy that in the aftermath of this gaffe, De Santis has withdrawn from administering a Facebook group that was littered with racist posts.
