Fallen away means fallen into the pit of retained sin. The weight of sin will lead to his destruction, which is now made manifest-all that remains is his realization of that fact. The Lord God, in His Divine Mercy, will never assign more burden than one can carry. He will, however, allow a sinner to overload himself, leading to an admission of weakness and a plea for the Lord’s mercy and compassion. You can help to restore his hope by telling him of the wonderful relief from the burden of sin that reconciliation is. A Sacrament instituted by Christ Himself, who knew exactly what the heart of man needed, can lift the heart of your co-worker. Your patient and faith-filled example will do more than any words you could ever speak.
Merciful Lord, You sacrificed Your Beloved Son for the sake of sinners. Look with Divine Mercy upon the co-worker, and let spangler1982’s loving example speak to the man’s heart, gently calling him back to You, O Lord.
