La-Petite-Fleur this is in no way pointed straight at you, I just wanted to say this so you know I am not trying to ATTACK you…
Ok, I have read this so many times but something just keeps striking me in the head that I need to get it out… When I hear statements like these, from both catholics and protestants, it gets me a little frustrated.
People, YOU ARE YOUR BELIEFS. So if you hate a belief you essentially hate the person who believes it. I can tell you right now that what I believe is my very core. It’s WHO I AM. If I were to try to deny what I believe it would be like trying to cut out my beating heart without any antisthetic (I know I spelled that wrong). So when someone says they don’t hate me but hate my belief I first chuckle but then I am saddened by this because it truly feels like someone is saying that they hate me. I may not agree with the catholic faith on many levels but I in NO way hate it.
When you ‘rag’ on someone else’s belief you are ragging on them because that is what they believe. It makes them feel ‘less than’… What needs to happen is if everyone took on the role of understanding and try to find out what someone is believing instead of attacking them you will find a MUCH better response.
Two examples:
~When a protestant comes on here you find it much more pleasant and refreshing when the respectfully ask questions and if they disagree they don’t do it out of anger and you go away from the conversation not feeling huge frustration but looking forward to the next time when you can discuss beliefs and try to get them to see it from your angle. Right?
~When you visit a protestant site you prefer the ones (like mine) that don’t automatically shut you down and ban you because of your belief but let you talk openly and are able to ask questions regarding their beliefs.
I have a feeling that some of the issues that protestants and catholics have with each other is just because of anger. A lot of our beliefs come from the same core but are expressed differently.
So don’t say the whole, I don’t like protestantism but I like the individuals because I tell ya right now. You hate my beliefs then you hate me for they are WHO I AM.
