To try to make a rather long story short:

I am a 24 y/o man who is more than likely going to become a priest, of what sort I am currently discerning. In a moment of doubt over the summer I returned to a Catholic dating site I’d been at and met a girl in the same situation I was, with whom I hit it off better than anyone I’ve ever met, on a personal and most importantly very deep spiritual level. This very beautifully immediately pushed us both back towards our vocations to the priesthood and the cloistered contemplative sisterhood.

We developed a very special, pure, and spiritual friendship, and she became my spiritual support, something I was gravely lacking. I believed perhaps God had sent her (in part) to be this for me for the year until I entered seminary, about which time she’d be locking herself away with Jesus (something I am extremely filled with joy about :heaven: ) However, after her final retreat to decide whether or not to enter a particular community, the decision (which I anticipated) was made that she not talk to me any more, in order to do what was thought to be best (based on conversations with Mother and past life experiences). We are supposed to resume contact at her entrance, at which point I can visit, write, etc. She really doesn’t want this either in any way other than thinking it was what God Willed.

Now I am left with no spiritual support and a lot of lonliness, due to the fact that 1) other friends of mine can pull me down a lot and I want to avoid that, 2) I saw in her exactly what a person in my position really needs in terms of someone on the same page with God as I, and so now being without it makes me realize how, basically, holy I can be with that, and so where I am now is completely unacceptable, and 3) I really don’t have any close friends to speak of even aside from the faith (and at this point certainly don’t think someone without faith could be a close friend). So I need that.

I have also gotten the indication after 2 weeks of intensive Eucharistic prayer that not talking to my friend may not be God’s Will, and another sister who belongs to the same order as I has suggested the same. I was led to write her a letter explaining all this, which I did in front of Jesus over several days, and which I am now struggling to decide whether to mail or not. I want my decision simply to reflect what God Wills that I do.

I also have no job right now. I have about a month to find one. My problem is that I really am looking for something with the faith in it. Another long story, but basically I believe God is calling me somewhere that is not so worldly, but that has a focus on Him. I just don’t know where.

And lastly my living situation is not well. I am with my family in a very noisy home that is constantly in strife and full of negative emotions. I feel my soul choking for air whenever I am there. I think I need to find a much better place, preferably with a Catholic :).

Sorry to make such a long list, but I wasn’t quite sure how to ask for the prayers I needed without doing so! So, that’s it. And oh, by the way, its possible all my thoughts on all of this are totally off. So pray I don’t get caught up in myself rather than going with God’s Way.

Feel free to PM me if you’ve got any advice, btw. God bless, thank you!

Let me pray for and with you.

Lord, in your love for the Church, you provide bishops, priests and deacons as shepards for you people, and you call men an women to leave all things to serve you joyfully in religious life. May those wohm you have raised up as servants of the Gospel and ministers for you altars show forth dedication and compassion. May those whom you have chosen to serve you as religious provide by their way of life a convincing sing of your kingdom for the Church and the whole world. AMEN

Lazerlike42, I am not certain that you are supposed to have contact with her, because there are two vocations at stake here. Remember that you met her on a dating site. Also take into account that you are in a personally unsatisfying situation at home. There is a strong tendency to seek outside consolation when home and job are less than optimal-which yours are. Try to look as far ahead as you can, past your current situation and concerns, to what God wants for you.

I would stress ultimate caution with this beautiful young lady, as under a situation of bi-lateral personal stress, searching and discernment, there is a strong possibility that your relationship may become more than spiritual. You will naturally tend to lean upon one another for help, which can divert both of you from your purpose. This is only human nature, but reflect on the future of two vocations and your eternal purpose. Remember that Christ commanded us to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him. If you are feeling desolation, your life has become Christ-like. Imagine the desolation that he felt-abandoned and innocent on the cross. He is the eternal example of obedience-one we must strive to follow.

The two of you are at a particularly vulnerable point in your lives, and susceptible to emotions. This can easily cause things to go horribly wrong in a big hurry. You need employment anywhere-as you are called to be in this world, but not of this world. Big difference. You need income, and any legitimate occupation will suffice for the purpose of moving to a more stable living environment. This is a temporary job, not a permanent one.

You need a male friend or confidant, who may very well be waiting for you at your next place of employment. He will challenge you and be a frustration at times, because he may not even believe. But, if you are truly considering a lifetime of consecration to the Lord, this will serve as a wonderful preparation. If you cannot reason with him, it will season you to the failures which lie ahead in every life. If you do reach him, or convert him, it will serve as a confidence builder and proof both to you and to God. May the Lord bless you in your journey.

A Prayer for you:

Lord God Almightly, you created Lazerlike42 from all eternity to suit Your Divine purpose. In your mercy, grant him wisdom as he discerns Your will for his life. Graciously bestow upon him the strength and courage to go humbly forward in his life, respecting first Your will, and the lives and futures of those around him. By the power of your Holy Spirit, give him Heavenly assistence in deciding rightly regarding his vocation of serving You, O Lord. May his life be pleasing to You in every aspect as he continues his spiritual search. Assure him that you accompany him at all times, as you have with every holy man and woman throughout the ages. We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever, Amen.

Praying for you and all of your intentions. I think it is absolutely wonderful that you are planning on becoming a Priest! God Bless you!

LL- Can you find a spiritual advisor? Perhaps someone from a nearby church or religious order? Praying for you.

Praying GOD’S will be done in you life LIVE SIMPLY,while you wait.

I pray for you and all men discerning a call to the priestly vocation!

Lazer, your situation sounds like one of my past. I was in my twenties and wanted to be a nun, a man I met was also in his twenties and wanted to be a priest. We were very close spiritually and talked hours on the phone and met a couple of times at his apartment to play board games. He saw me as a “special friend” to whom to talk to about spiritual matters for we had our faith in common and he had no other really Catholic friends. I moved out of state and we kept in touch with letters and once in a while phone calls. We would visit when I returned to visit my parents. Long story short, I feel in love with him, but he did not. I did not become a nun and probably would not anyway due to another reason, but he became a priest this last June. God had other plans for this man and they did not include me.

Accept the decision your friend made and see what God has planned for you now and for her. I will pray for you though and your vocation. I hope you will find a job in a good Catholic environment, if that is what you need and feel God calling you to. Try EWTN or Catholic Familyland, they hire people. I also agree with someone already suggested, try to get a spiritual advisor in a priest if possible.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I have placed your petitions within my heart and will carry them with me to Mass and I will remember your petitions in my daily prayers.
:signofcross: :gopray2:

I will be praying for you and the intentions that you have posted and will add them to my daily prayer intentions

May God Bless you

May the Peace of our Lord Jesus Be with you

I can feel your need through your words. I pray that you will be able to feel Gods presence in your prayer life, and ask for His grace to bring you peace…to pray for your friend to find her way also. Obedience is hard, and especially when we aren’t sure of what God wants of us. I pray your will find what brings true peace to your soul.

May your vocation be placed under the protection of the precious blood of Jesus, and Marys mantle.

Will keep you in prayer. Have you thought of posting in to the Vocations or Spirituality Forums?..
