For police, the goal is vigilance, not vigilantes

But he continued to follow TM, and eventually killed an innocent 17 year old.
Actually, he didn’t. Martin returned safely to the backyard of his father’s house, where he made a cell call stating such.

During this time, Zimmerman went out to a main street, well away from where Martin was, to record the street address of where their initial encounter too place.

But then Martin left the backyard of his father’s place and went off in the direction of Zimmerman.

They encountered each other again that that is where the shooting too place.

All of that came out in the trial and was supported by evidence.

Here is the map of everyone’s location at various points in time

If you want to make a point, it is best done using actual facts, not made up ones.

There are just three streets in that complex, and GZ should have known them quite well.

TM backtracked to ask GZ why he was following him, an innocent question.

So TM was not scared of GZ? By this point, TM was not on his way home or on the way to the store? TM did go back willingly to meet with someone he felt was a creepy *** cracker?

So many admissions at once, my heart just skipped a beat.

So now TM was following GZ?

Doesn’t that make TM the vigilante?

I disagree with the notion that walking or driving around your own neighborhood, presumably on public ground or ground you’re otherwise allowed to be on, constitutes “seek[ing] out criminals.”.
I didn’t say driving around was seeking criminals. I said “when one goes arms seeking criminals…” If one is just driving for some other purpose, then what I said does not apply.

I’m not really seeing the distinction here. Armed or not, approaching or confronting a criminal or violent criminal is dicey. I would argue that neighborhood watches aren’t really about seeking out criminals either. I can’t imagine disarming just because I participated in a neighborhood watch program either.

I would, like I said for liability purposes. However, for those that want that security, I think it is more incumbant to maintain a safe distance and use the phone to let the police do their job, even if it lets someone “get away” for a little while.

a large part of the problem is “men” leaving the duties of men to others,“trained authorities”. it has become expected if not fashionable to be cowards .

I believe Christian virtues are relevant in this topic:
*
Matthew 5:39
But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other:

Matthew 26:52
Then Jesus saith to him: Put up again thy sword into its place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Matthew 5:44
Love your enemies:… *

If GZ was not a vigilante, he would never have profiles and followed TM in the first place.
What is wrong with 'profile"? Observing a man walking around in the rain looking in windows is called common sense and justifiable suspicion.

Again, why did GZ need to follow in the first place?

Pope Francis makes a remarkable role model for all of us in that he downplays the need for security. I’ll bet that he never owned a gun in his life. When his time comes, he’ll probably be rejoicing with the saints in Heaven.

Agreed. Expections are that a person should only tell how terrified they were until the “proper authorities” handled the situation for them.

Source?

As for his security - the Swiss guards are armed with weapons that are illegal for Americans to own.
