The undertaker I used, who is an old friend of my husband’s family and used to have my father-in-law and brother-in-law do volunteer work as pallbearers and chair setter-uppers and such back in the day, turned out to be Catholic. So he had no problem getting the priest to come out (especially since his non-Catholic wife works for the priest’s Catholic school). A bunch of Knights of Columbus came over to be pallbearers and drive the hearse to the cemetery. Whole thing was about as Catholic as one could get for a deceased Protestant. For that I am glad.
