Forecaster Blasts Gore on Global Warming

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A top hurricane forecaster called Al Gore “a gross alarmist” Friday for making an Oscar-winning documentary about global warming.
“He’s one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he’s doing a great disservice and he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Dr. William Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, where he delivered the closing speech. A spokeswoman said Gore was on a flight from Washington, D.C., to Nashville Friday; he did not immediately respond to Gray’s comments.

I know that climate has changed over the centuries. After all, Greenland (currently under a glacier) was once a place where grapes grew. Back in the 18th century, the Thames used to freeze almost every winter. I think we are in a period where the earth is warming. But Algore and others like him seem to place ALL the blame on mankind’s activities.

Meanwhile he and his wife have 3 homes, jet all over the place and solemly tell me (one small home, one small car, have never flown in my life) that I must do MY part. Other than beating my dirty clothes clean on a rock by the river, I don’t know what else I could do.
 
The thing is, I just read an article this week that scientists now think that Mars is going through global warming.

Mars.

No people.

No SUVs.

No man-made pollution whatsoever.

So, on Earth, it’s clearly our doing, despite the fact that our own data shows that Earth’s temperature has gone through changes long before we ever entered the industrial age.

Go figure.

But don’t try to challenge this or any other article of faith for the Left – the debate is over. Gore said so. The Left has said so. We should just accept the conclusion.
 
I know. I’ve read the studies about warming on Mars too. Some scientists think that the sun is the main force driving the warming/cooling of the earth (and mars).

I have no doubt that mankind does exert some influence, and I believe we must be good stewards of the earth and its resources, but too many people associated with global warming movement seem to be gaia worshippers. And they want us little people to give up our small comforts while they keep their houses and private jets.

“Global Warming” scare tactics are just another tool of the left to control people and the proof is their action.

This guy is being contradicted by a major international study by the world’s scientists that was just released. It is very dire even with political types soft-pedaling the report:

Exactly. Don’t get me wrong… I think it’s morally wrong to be wasteful of the earth’s resources. But that’s a different thing than automatically concluding that we are the sole or even major cause of Earth’s temperature fluctuations in order to exert control.

And let’s face it… that’s what the Left really wants – Control. And so far, they’ve been very good at chipping away democracy bit by bit, using the court system (among others) to thwart democracy.

In New York, Mayor Bloomberg made trans-fats illegal. So, a person doesn’t even have the ability to decide whether or not they want to eat food with trans-fats – the state makes the decision… for people, for restaurants… Control.

If Gore is so right, why does he need to claim that the debate is over? Why not invite the debate and prove his point? But he automatically labels anyone who disagrees with him a shill of big business… while flying his private jet and consuming more energy than the rest of us, of course.

True. And let’s keep in mind that about 30 years ago, scientists were declaring that we were heading into a new ice age.

Also, about 30-40 years ago, the Left manufactured the overpopulation scare to promote their agenda of contraception and abortion (which frankly worked and has caused people to accept both as sovereign and holy rights).

Oh yeah, and Y2K was going to shut down the world.
 
I remember global cooling, the population bomb, and Y2K is going to kill us all. I remember all those very well.

And now:

Global warming is the big thing, there are several countries that desperately need to increase their population, and Y2K was nothing.

And yet, things that we ought to worry about, we don’t.

Those darn laws! They always try to limit what I do! I mean back in the old days, I could buy all my heroin at Sears and Roebucks, not anymore. Politicians tryin’ to keep me down. And this religion thing, limiting what I can and can’t do. Telling me what’s right and wrong.

A few years back, my wife and I visited Guthrie, Oklahoma, where my father was raised. We stopped in at the drug store – which is a sort of museum now – and in there we saw the poison cabinet, complete with heroin.

There was also the original register, where saled from the poison cabinet were recorded – and sure enough, there was a sale of heroin there, with the reason laconicaly noted as “addiction.”

[If you visit the town of Glen Rock, you can actually see and touch the humongous rock left behind by our glacier.] [It’s the size, roughly, of a city bus.]
