Yes, thankyou I did check them out. I was led by one of those links to a page offering various books for sale. I will quote from the ad of one of them:

.
I would be interested to hear exactly what it is that a Catholic would consider as “attacks on the Blessed Mother”
Perhaps the book explains what the author means by that.

Do you have any comments on the articles themselves, or to the posts I made. Rather than discuss a new topic, I would be interested in hearing what you thought in response to the explanation for why Catholics choose to honor Mary, and the role she played in Jesus`s life.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

So this is my question for this thread:

Why does the Adventist Church persist in claiming that the Catholic Church teaches things that she emphatically does not?

Hi MarysRoses

I decided to come back to this first post you made for this topic as I was reading through this thread; I found it difficult to decipher just what it was we were talking about here.

One thing I am wondering is, Can you illustrate for us please, just what your conception of official Adventist teachings are on the subject of Mary?

Reading through all 5 pages (or so) of this thread you started; I am not so sure you understand this very well.

They may have been deleted in the computer crash, but Marys Roses wrote some excellent posts on this in the past. Have you tried looking under other threads by Marys Roses. They might be there (if they weren`t deleted in the computer crash).

I never thought of this, but I will try that search you are suggesting. In the meantime, are you able to offer anything on your own personal conception of how Adventists teach and believe about Mary?

Did God drop the Bible out of the sky as a book? If so, why there so many different versions? If it did not just fall from the sky, in a complete edited binded book, than how do you personally know what books belong in it and what don`t? If you are using your personal opinion, than perhaps, you could be wrong.
I disagree with many parts of your post, but must end here for now.
Sincerely,
Maria1212
Just out of curiosity, would you consider the **possibility **that **you **might be wrong in some of your beliefs?

Dear Protestant 101,

Do you have any comments on the articles I posted above? Rather than discuss a new topic, I would be interested in hearing what you thought in response to the explanation for why Catholics choose to honor Mary, and the role she played in Jesus`s life.

After we finish that discussion, I would welcome examining Adventist views on Mary.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

Of course, in fact I have been. In the past, I faced challenges accepting some parts of Catholic teaching. I decided to study those particular teachings I had difficulty with, and due to God`s grace, came to understand why the Church follows that doctrine/teaching. Learning the reasons behind the teaching helped me grow in faith. Even now when I struggle with particular aspects of my faith, I recognize that the Church has the ultimate authority on matters of doctrine, not me personally. And I am thankful for that!!

With every particular aspect of Catholic teaching I initially struggled with, as I studied why the Church taught it, I learned that Scripture, oral tradition passed on from the Apostles and early Church Fathers, backed up that position. It made my faith stronger.

So, I am the first to admit that I could be wrong on some of my personal beliefs. But I always do my best to humbly submit to the authority of the Catholic Church on this areas. That way, I do not lead myself astray. But it is not blind faith by which I do this. It is through the grace of God, combined with much prayer and study.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

I’m LDS but not SDA, but still it seems like both LDS and SDA are in simular boats as compared to the Catholic Church. Even though I’m LDS I still have needed the Catholic church to get through the hard times I been in with my health that is shot.

Fr. Benedict Groeschel, is a person that has attracted me to the Catholic Church, and It would not hurt to have him speak at an LDS conference, and an SDA conference, many minds would be swayed toward the goodness of the Catholic church, with people like Fr Groeschel.

Hi Geoff,

I am glad that you were open enough to explore Benedict Groeschel`s writings. I have posted on his books on other threads.

He has been a tremendous blessing in my spiritual life and has helped me tremendously. All Christians will benefit from reading his books. I am so thankful for Groeschel. He has brought me so much closer to God. I am reading his book on the Beautitudes right now. And his book Arise from Darkness is something everyone should read and own! It mades a great gift for friends who are facing tough times, sudden loss, or health issues.

Sincerely,
