But, along with conversions, there needs to be a supernatural element. All of the approved Marian appearances, even dating as far back as Sta. Maria Maggiore and the miracle of the snow, had a supernatural element that was unmistakably divine in nature. As I said before, Guadalupe had roses blooming in the dead of winter. Lourdes had a miraculous spring. Fatima had the miracle of the sun. Nothing like that has ever happened at Medjugorie.Yes, I’m right there with you. And our Holy Father has made no statement against Medjugorje. In fact, our previous Pope John Paul II was very much in favor of pilgrimages to Medj.
The fruit of these apparitions are the conversions about which volumes have been written. The pastor of our church is one.
All of the approved Marian apparitions have had a cnosistent thread that has bound them, even though they are diverse in their scope, seers and locations. Prayer, a supernatural event and the building of a church have all occured. To my knowledge, none of that has happened at Medjugorie.
Now, as far as the conversions are concerned, the Lord can even use what may or may not be a true apparition to move the heart, thereby allowing some good to come out of things.
Remember, though, that public revelation ended with the death of St. John, the Apostle and Evangelist. While the Church holds a deep veneration for our Blessed Mother, belief in any apparition is not a part of the Deposit of Faith.
