Okay, now you’ve gone too far, honey. Being that I’m an egg-sucking, possum-eating Evangelical down here in the wild green rolling hills of Pennsylvania, me and my husband/first cousin/granpa (that’s one person there, sweetie) is gonna hafta hog-tie you (the hog can go loose fur a bit) and drag you down here to larn you summething. Don’t you worry, we got good eats here.

Or you can just visit Redeemer Presbyterian as stated to rectify your ignorance. (I’m still not sure if you’re kidding through all those posts regarding your ideas of Evangelicals or if you’re really that ignorant.)
👍👍👍

That’s a lot of fear. I trust in God, so I don’t have those issues.

That said, I’m not sure why you are making Evangelicals equivalent to the Westboro Baptist church. Ignorance? You seem to know they aren’t affiliated with other Baptists. Do you understand what a small “church” it is? And, Mormons? Seriously? You are afraid of Mormons? 😛

You just keep digging that hole…your posts have become an odd sort of entertainment.
Yes I am afraid of religions that lead people into evil. I am not afraid for myself, as I too trust in God unlike your insinuation of me, but I am afraid for those who are misled by Mormonism. I am also afraid for those who are led into sin by permissive Protestant religions. I can pray for them but I still fear for the souls misled into religions that either deny Christ or deny His moral teachings. I also fear for the souls led into anger and hatred by rampantly violent Christian and Muslim denominations. As one of my faith advisors said, there are two types of spiritual experiences and only two: those caused by agents of God (angels, saints, Mary, etc.) through intercession to Him, and those caused by agents of the Devil (demons, "arch"demons, etc.)

I don’t think I am digging any sort of hole. Are you suggesting that it is morally good for people to be Mormon (or any other non-Christian religion), and as an extension, deny Catholicism?

Oh…haha…I thought you were LiberalPrincess, but you were just responding for her. You’re like twins! 😃

Not at all. She supports SS’M,’ for one, and I certainly don’t. I am also significantly more conservative than her on a lot of issues.

You sir, are being extremely uncharitable towards me in a lot of your posts, and I would ask you politely to please check your attitude. I don’t think that comparing me to a heterodox Catholic is an appropriate way to act in a discussion.

See, LiberalPrincess? Even liberal Catholics consider you a heterodox Catholic. 👍

If an organization was present in your backyard that stands for so much of what you disagree with (marriage equality, mixing religion and state, etc.), would you not be a little disturbed too?
If I were a tolerant, caring person, no. But then again, those concepts seem to escape liberals and progressives in leiu of their selfishness.

As I told you earlier, progressive liberalism will not last. People need logic in their lives, not empty left-wing promises.
Also, I would have expected an evangelical church out in the boonies…Not the Upper East Side of Manhattan!
Then perhaps you shouldn’t be bragging about your “education” and dump the stereotypes.

I still think your sole purpose on here is to antagonize conservatives.

You’re wasting your time.

Heterodox is defined as opposed to Vatican doctrine. I highly doubt she would disagree with a description of herself as heterodox, as I have many friends who are like-minded (love the Church but support SS’M’ and oppose Vatican I’s affirmation of papal infallibility) and also do not mind being called heterodox. It is unfortunate, but it’s hard to argue.

After all, if they don’t agree with papal infallibility, then you can’t argue that Vatican I’s infallible description of papal infallibility discounts that belief. All I can usually do is affirm my strong belief in the Church’s doctrinal infallibility [and discuss Christ’s establishment of and protection of a strong rock of consistent doctrine] and pray for them.

That was a joke. I think you need to get a sense of humor. Also, please stop obsessing over me. First your rude PM, now dragging me into your little feud.

Basta!

Sure…she probably doesn’t mind being called a heretic.

If believing in the equality, fairness and dignity of all makes me a “heretic” then so be it.

Liberal Princess–

In the interest of helping you have some idea what to expect if you do choose to visit Redeemer Presbyterian, a short article from the current newsletter might help. It happens to be a brief review of 2 books by Christians with same-sex attraction. Rev. Keller’s words seem to me to be in line with Catholic teaching on the subject, but they might give you enough of a different perspective to help you consider the wisdom of the Catholic teaching that SSA itself is not sinful, but it does call for a commitment to celibacy, and living celibately is not somehow ripping men and women off from a “right” to have sex. Anyway, be curious and brave and give it a read and some reflection: www.redeemer.com/news_and_events/newsletter/?aid=484

If believing in **equality, fairness and the dignity of all **makes me a “heretic,” by some tea baggers then so be it.
There is nothing wrong with any of those things. The Church teaches all of them…just not in the way you believe them.

BTW…I don’t think SMGS127 appreciates being called a “tea bagger.”

Cat fight! :slapfight:

I think she’s only on here to advocate for so-called “gay marriage” be against her incorrect understanding of “seperation of Church and state” and anger conservatives that approach the area of violating forum rules.

There’s not a whole lot of substantive conversation in users like that and I see that from time to time, mostly from young progressives who flaunt what they think are superior credentials or know better than the rest of us.

At any rate, this thread is wandering and needs to get back on track. 🙂

Pretty sure she’s blocked me too. 🤷

True. It started out as a positive affirmation about an Atheist converting to Christianity. Bless her! I hope she makes her journey to the Church, where she’ll find the fullness of the Truth, but…baby steps, baby steps… Lord knows, it took me a while in my journey. 🙂

What is quite heartening about the first few posts in this thread at least, is the unmitigated happiness of Catholics over the fact that one of Jesus’s lost sheep has been brought back to the fold of Christianity, although not Catholicism per se.

👍

As I said, “baby steps.” I bought pastor Keller’s book. No fear of me abandoning the true Church, but I think it is valuable to learn how he approaches the secular, Atheist/Agnostic masses. My conversion doesn’t always translate to a good approach to other Atheists/Agnostics, so I’d like to learn.

  1. This isn’t a facebook blog with your teenage friends, and to quote Scott Conant “we’re going to demand a little respect”.
That’s not “obsessing”.

So if you want to have a decent conversation,** dump the teen jargon**. If you’re as smart as you think you are, you don’t need that garbage.
  1. I have no idea what “feud” you are talking about. This is an open forum with multiple users, almost all of whom are mature adults. I’ve been blogging for a long time, and I have a good idea of when someone is trying to start a fight or antagonize other users.
  2. If you really think the message I sent to you was rude, you probably don’t have the stomach to be on political forums.
