I suppose Fox is slightly to the right, but only half of the time. It hardly matters because traditional notions of Left/Right politics have lost all real meaning in this country. Pretty much all of the time though, it is just blatantly sensationalist or agitative.
Yep. Or worse; driven by profit and nothing else.

Fox News is fair and balanced. I’m sick and tired of hearing liberals complain about it. They just don’t want to see any conservatives on T.V. at all. So when there are, they accuse the station of being completely right-wing. That is ridiculous. Just look at Fox’s primetime line-up:

Shepard Smith: Doesn’t even hint at a political affiliation.
Bill O’Reilly: Independent.
Sean Hannity: Conservative:
Alan Colmes: Liberal.
Greta Van Susteren: Same as Shepard Smith.
Brit Hume: Same as Shepard Smith.

Explain to me what is so right-wing about that line-up.

Greta is a liberal. Gerardo is a liberal. Cal Thomas is Conservative. O’Reilly discribes himself as traditional, which is slightly to the right.

I never claimed to be fair and balanced- I’d like to think of myself as a centrist doing my part to cheese off the Anne Coulter and Sean Hannity crowd. It’s a dirty job, but if someone’s gotta do it, they might as well do it with STYLE, man.

But if you need my opinions backed by evidence, check out the film “Outfoxed”- it was put out by MoveOn.org, an organization that, in all honesty, annoys me to no end, but they do a great job in exposing Rupert Murdoch’s agenda of mudslinging, chicanery, Orwellian information manipulation and idolatry of the Republican party. Every time I see the segment on O’Reilly, I am still in awe about how right on the money they are.
While each of us has a different opinion about what “fair and balanced” means, I think that if you’re not trying to be fair and balanced, you’ve chosen the wrong forum to post on.

Outfoxed has several errors in it, as well as half-truths. Here are some references that respond to it:

I don’t see how anybody–right or left–could find Fox to be fair and balanced. I don’t watch it or CNN since I don’t have cable, but when I am at a motel or a friend or family with cable, I check both out. CNN has many more shows with strong, erudite conservatives showing both sides of the stories. Fox’s Colmes is a milquatoast and isn’t very good at challenging the Republicans.

If you’re looking for a Michael Moore type liberal, then you’re right. If you’re looking for a John Kerry type liberal, then Colmes is perfect.

Fox news were the culprits that reported we were monitoring Osama’s cell phone calls. Anything for a news moment, even if it allowed the architect of 9/11 to escape.

I don’t know what this comparison is supposed to mean. Colmes isn’t articulate as is John Kerry. Michael Moore is a terrible debater since he turns most people off with his behavior. I am talking about somebody who is intelligent and a good debater. CNN has their share of intelligent, and good debaters on the conservative side on its shows.

I believe you’re mistaken. During the trial of the mastermind of the first World Trade Center bombing (Yousef?), it was revealed that we were monitoring Yousef’s satellite cell phone conversations. After that, al Qaeda leadership stopped using them. This was before 9/11. Note that that is one reason why we want military trials instead of public trials.

If you can provide a source I will consider your claim.

I meant a liberal that didn’t lie. But I do understand what you mean now.

Thanks for explaining why military trials in these cases can better guard public safety.

I find it shocking that the Clintons did nothing to stop al Qaeda after this group bombed the World Trade Center in 1993.

There’s a documentary that came out a while ago titled “Outfoxed” which is a liberal take view on the biases of Fox News.

Personally, i think it’s biased. A lot of it has to do with the stories that *are not *shown. What does not get reported is a form of bias as well.
Examples, please?

Except he announced the death of the Pope two days before he died.

What can I say? Journalists are idiots.
I watch Fox News Channel. I am not particularly fond of Shepard Smith. Having said that, journalists all over do make mistakes. I am on the EWTN E-Mailing list and they too reported that Pope John II passed away one or two(can’t remember which) days before he really did pass. They quickly sent another E-Mail apoligizing for the mistake.

Nothing like sweeping generalizations.
I wasn’t making a generalization. Some liberals lie, some don’t. Some conservatives lie, some don’t.

I like Alan Combs because he is truthful and fair, even though I disagree with most of his political positions. The earlier poster is correct in that he is not the best speaker around.

Examples, please?
See post #64 for some links. A couple of examples are that some of the people quoted did not work for Fox and others worked for a Fox affiliate station, not Fox News.

That’s not what I was asking examples for. I took this statement,
“personally I think it’s biased. Alot of it has to do with the stories that are not shown. What does not get reported is a form of bias as well,” as he was referring to The Fox News Channel. If he was referring to Outfoxed, no need to give me examples. I was asking for examples of FNC not reporting stories. Maybe I interpreted his comment wrong?
